Shelter Island Manor a luxurious, secluded estate which sits on eight sprawling and very private acres. The property encompasses two separate dwellings, a heated pool, outdoor shower, two-car garage accessed by a wide pebbled drive which can accommodate parking for 6-8 cars.
Both homes on the property are professionally designed and decorated to be luxurious and welcoming, making this the ideal place to relax and entertain all summer long.
In the 3-bedroom/2.5-bathroom main house, claim a space in front of the living rooms fireplace, or find a place to call your own in the plush family room, private library, or serene screened porch near the garden. For even more privacy, escape to the master suite, with its own home office. Create a feast for the whole family in the large eat-in kitchen, which features a sub-zero, Viking stove (with a second refrigerator in the butlers pantry), two dishwashers, and two sinks. Then pass the plates and linger over a leisurely meal in the sun-soaked dining room or move to the slate terrace, which has a table that comfortably accommodates eight.
The 2-bedroom/2.5-bathroom cottage is also professionally appointed and equipped with its own office, perfect for guests who want a bit more private space. The cottage boasts its own kitchen, complete with refrigerator, dishwasher, and two-burner stove. On the second floor, find the propertys additional washer/dryer unit.
Shelter Island Manors gardens, with its large lawns and mature trees beckon for those who crave quiet time in nature, away from the city's chaos. A professional lighting system enhances the evening experience as does a professionally installed Sonos sound system with multiple zones inside and out.
The propertys heated pool is reminiscent of a pond, set in a very large, private enclosure with sea grasses and local shrubs. It is secluded and separate from the two dwellings, making it a perfect and very private spot for an early morning or midnight swim.
For those preferring the beach, there is a small and quiet beach a 5 minute walk from the house; an outdoor shower will be at the ready when you return.

Cleaning Disclaimer: One end of stay cleaning is included in the reservation total. For reservations longer than seven nights, one cleaning per week is mandatory. In-stay cleanings are the guest's expense.

Pool Disclaimer: Due to the climate of the northeastern U.S., outdoor pools and attached hot tubs will typically only be available for use from Memorial Day to Labor Day. If your booking falls outside of that time frame and you intend to use the pool/hot tub, please be sure to inquire if they will be available for use prior to booking.
Off-Season Disclaimer: It is typical that spring cleanings and updates do not take place until late April / early May. If your booking falls outside of Memorial Day to Labor Day, please inquire as to whether or not outdoor furniture and equipment will be available for use prior to booking.
Payment/Refund Policy: All payments are non-refundable, however, should the guest elect to cancel its reservation, Marquis will use best efforts to work with the owner of the property to reopen the dates of the reservation in attempt to re-book the property (please note the decision to reopen dates is the owners). Should Marquis be successful in re-booking the property for the original dates at the same or higher price than the original reservation, a refund will be issued to the guest once payment is collected in full for the new reservation. If a new reservation is not made, the guest may use the property for the dates of its original reservation so long as payments have been made in accordance with the payment schedule established at the time of booking and Marquis is notified in writing 72 hours or more prior to the start of the reservation.
Security Deposit Disclaimer: Although rare, accidental damage does happen during a stay. In lieu of a security deposit, guests can rest easy knowing that this property is covered with up to $20,000 of "all risk" damage protection provided by Waivo. Excellent
Our group was a total of four adults and four kids ranging from ages 3-8. We all enjoyed this beautiful property, which was just as advertised —maybe better. The furnishings were elegant but comfortable, the yard was expansive, private, and well maintained (and visited by deer, groundhogs, bunnies, and turkeys, which our city crew got a kick out of), and the pool was a lush oasis. Kim was a great property manager. She was professional, kind, and very responsive. Stay Marquis was a little slow to respond and return our deposit, but it didn’t mar the overall experience.
I recently stayed at the property with my family and young children. We had an amazing stay at the property. The grounds were beautiful, pool amazing, and house clean. Great location to the beach. House had everything we needed. We were all so sad to go.
The house is a peaceful beautiful retreat. Lots of land to enjoy with you family , the pool is beautiful . And then the ticks showed up and we were unable to enjoy the outside. We did tick checks on everyone . We extracted 15 ticks in three days . No thank you ! Just hope and pray we didn’t miss any.
We loved the property - easy to spend time together outside and inside! Kids had fun in the pool. Close to beaches, easy grocery shopping and ordering in options. Kim, the property manager, was easy to reach and very helpful. Hope to return next year!

We have had family reunions in California, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Spain and Portugal and this lovely estate on Shelter Island was by far the most comfortable and accommodating we have rented. The welcoming basket of gourmet goodies set the tone just as you walk into the kitchen and we knew immediately that this was a special place. And Kim, the manor's representative who met us, is a special person: gracious, kind and full of suggestions. The grounds are so secluded that we felt coddled. We loved the easy landscaping and the willowy grasses embracing the pool. We biked the lovely streets and byways (thanks to bikes on property), played badminton (we brought our own set) in the afternoon, cards and other games at night after supper, and even danced one evening. We barbecued vegetables for a pasta salad and baked cakes and lobster mac 'n' cheese. We dined at Sunset Beach restaurant and watched the brilliant fiery sunset and had cocktails at Ram's Head Inn. We toured the ENTIRE island and walked the pebbly beaches (three of them!).. We greeted the deer and the turtle who visited and made friends with a black hen who thought she was an adopted member of the family. Every amenity is provided by the owner -- she must be a perpetual hostess for there was not a thing we needed or could have wanted. You really don't ever have to leave the grounds. Shelter Island Manor is the perfect retreat where sweet memories are made. RA
