The Pike Lane Cabin is nestled in the woods situated on seven acres of quiet natural beauty yet minutes waking distance down the shaded lane to the center of Woodstock. The property was once owned by the renowned water color painter, John Pike, where he taught his hugely popular painting classes in the space which is now our home and art studios. The land itself which has a stream, waterfall, ponds and mountain views is a perfect spot for plein air painters, and contemplation. The cabin isnext door to our home separated by fence and thick wisteria with its own yard, screened porch with barbecue, and dining area as well a large fire pit for quiet night time marshmallows and wine.

A path leads to the upper property where our family is creating pollinating fields of grasses for the butterflies.

While staying at The Pike Lane Cabin, you will have all the quiet and privacy you desire in this magical woodland setting. We are an easy walk to the Town of Woodstock and just up the road from a great independent movie theater Upstate Films and Woodstock Pizza Theater (the best pizza in the area!). Legendary Woodstock NY is the perfect getaway town, just 1 1/2 hours North of New York City and is packed with shops, restaurants, cafe's, historic landmarks, hiking trails, swimming holes, bike rentals, yoga, music and theater venues including the Colony Cafe, galleries, waterfalls, street events, natural food store, Woodstock Art Museum, and The Byrdcliffe Artist Guild.

At The Pike Lane Cabin, your privacy is priority. We are here for your needs and offer housekeeping upon your request. We then step back and allow you to enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful spot.

About us:
Elizabeth and I are both artists as one of our several professions.
My sons Manu and Darin both live here and help manage the property, and help make your arrival and stay easy.
Darin will be your primary contact.

Woodstock NY- Welcome to “America’s most famous small town.”
Ironically, the 1969 music festival happened in Bethel 43 miles up the road. Nevertheless Woodstock pays great homage that legacy. This wonderful town is a hotbed of artisan delights - live, inspired art and culinary wonder.
Main street is the quintessential American small town; lovely shops, clapboard sided churches, an old-fashioned Village Green where residents and visitors gather for events, talk, people watching, and quench that thirst for that “good old days” feeling that modern day suburbia has paved over.
Surrounding this classic conventional small town exterior is the unsurpassed beauty of Mother Nature. Her mountains, streams, lakes and waterfalls release the creativity in all who reside here - from local tradespeople (stone masons and furniture makers) to the artists (screenwriters, composers, actors, printmakers, painters, photographers, filmmakers, poets, novelists) and of course our beloved musicians – from the not so famous, to the those whose recordings most likely shuffle in your iTunes, to just us regular folk who thrive being surrounded by all this amazing energy. It is this laid-back convergence, which gives Woodstock its individuality.

Woodstock is a place of learning and growth. Spend some time here and you’ll soon find yourself sitting in one of the restaurants in town, greeting friends as they come in and holding an impromptu salon on a hot topic of the day. But if you prefer to simply be left alone with your thoughts or to collect rocks from the stream in your back yard, this is place to do all of that.

Leave your car at home and take the Adirondack Trailways Bus to the village green in Woodstock. From there we are an easy walk. We also offer private off-street parking for up to two vehicles.

Unwind from the day, grab your favorite beverage and gather around our grand fire pit for a campfire, stargazing and smores!

Nice, open layout. While we didn't have a chance to hike, the property was located in a beautiful, rural setting, yet very close to town. We felt comfortable walking into town even at night.

Very nice cabin. We loved its location: we could walk (with flashlight in the night) or drive to the center of Woodstock. We also enjoyed our short exploration of the surrounding land. The night sky there was very dark, so it was great for stargazing too.

We arrived in the dark, and it was quite daunting to navigate the forestry off Orchard and Pike Lanes - bear in mind we're UK city people from a land where there are no bears, snakes, possums, etc etc, so our 19 and 15 y/o kids were already on the lookout for grizzlies by our third traverse of the area. Also bear 8-) in mind we have NO cicadas in the UK - none - so the evening cricket noises were slightly overwhelming to us. The lesson is - arrive in the daytime. I know Woodstock pretty well but Pike Lane was new to me. In the morning all was revealed to be very pretty, and only a short wander to Tinker Street. The cabin is rustic/charming but well equipped, with decent AC, a good selection of kitchen stuff, and it's nicely set off by the wooden beams and floors. Darin is a lovely chap and his dog was woofly friendly, even for a non-animal family like ours. I wandered the grounds a bit, although my kids were still convinced there were lions, tigers, etc, but didn't get too far in. It's a work in progress and I like the philosophy of sustainability and eco-friendliness Darin and family are working towards. Woodstock of course is as lovely as ever, and even if you don't want to walk the road to the village it's a 3 min drive, and parking on Tinker St and Mill Hill Rd is free and plentiful. Go and discover Woodstock for yourself and you won't be disappointed. Onto the 'even better ifs' - and our feedback is given in the spirit of positivity, not criticism. Both beds need replacing - no arguement there - and a bed investment will make a huge difference to overall comfort. The overbath shower in the bathroom is shared with lots of incie wincie spiders - yeah I know it's in the woods and there are spiders, but less wood cladding and more tiling could prevent them, and just feel fresher. The bathroom sink plug hole doesn't drain for ages, so you think you're about to flood the basin - an easy replacement. Outside night-time visibility is low, even with the fairy lights in the porch, so automatic lights on arrival would be useful. The porch could do with a spruce-up too. Pike Lane Cabin is what it sets out to be - a pretty, rustic retreat - and if you're expecting suburban delights then you've come to the wrong place. The things we've mentioned would have made our stay better, but you won't be disappointed - if you're nature people and don't mind a bit of earthiness then you'll enjoy your stay. We're not, and we still did!

The cottage was spacious, well stocked with a fresh, clean, airy feeling deep in the woods, nestled among wildlife with a serene stream nearby and two minute walk to Tinker Street. Darrin a and Roger made us feel welcome and we will definitely visit again!

First time visiting Woodstock and we wanted to stay in a cabin. Darin's place really exceeded our expectations--yes, it really looks better in person! It's very modern, cozy, bright, and beautiful. The property is in the middle of construction, but this did not bother us and it still was fun to walk around and explore the woods. Darin was a wonderful and helpful host, we had to change our reservation dates and he got back to us quickly. When we got to the property, he greeted us and gave us a quick introduction to the place along with a few suggestions of what to do in town. We really appreciated it! Our stay there was simply breathtaking. Just what we wanted, nature, quiet at night, and birdsong in the morning. It's also a nice, short scenic walk to the village. We wished we could have stayed for longer than two days, and because we liked it so much, we're probably going to consider coming back in the future. Big shoutout to Darin for having us!
