Smithville is a city in DeKalb County, Tennessee, United States.

There are about 5,000 people that live in Smithville. It's a very cute small town with a surprising amount of food options.

Smithville is home to the Smithville Fiddler's Jamboree, which it has hosted annually since 1972. With 35 music and dance categories, streets full of hand-made crafts, and food booths galore, this is great fun for all.

The town is most visited by lake-goers as it is home to the beautiful Center Hill Lake.

We find it to be one of the most beautiful places in the state, chock full of stunning natural vistas and hiking along the water.

With over 400 miles of shoreline, and over 18,000 acres of area, the lake has plenty of hidden branches and coves to feel like you have the lake to yourself!

One of the things that makes Center Hill Lake special is its undeveloped shoreline. That means your experience on the lake will be filled with views of hilly, verdant shores that make for a beautiful and relaxing getaway. Center Hill Lake is also known for its fishing, which is available year-round.

Fishermen from near and far are especially drawn to the lake's three different species of bass. Don't forget to bring your fishing rod (and Tennessee fishing license) on your trip!  The lake is home to three State Parks: Edgar Evins, Burgess Falls, and Rock Island State Parks. Between the three, there are over 15 miles of trails with plenty of waterfalls for you to explore. Be sure to check them out during your trip!  Center Hill Lake is known for being boat friendly, but if you don’t have a boat of your own, don't worry. Many of the marinas on the lake offer boat rentals for anyone that wants to enjoy the lake from the water.

Our place is 5 miles from one of the best marinas at Center Hill Lake; Pates Ford Marina. Pates Ford Marina is owned by the owner of the famous bar tootsies in Nashville, so he often has country talent come play at the marina.

You have access to the entire house except for a closet downstairs under the steps for the cleaning ladies.

About 4 miles from the nearest restaurants and stores

Coffee really should be provided because Light and Bright is so isolated running out to purchase some is out of the question. There are so many coffee makers-who would know what to purchase in advance. The hot dripping water in the bathtub was disturbing. The nighttime temperature dropped and the thermostat stayed on 66 degrees, no matter what was selected. We wore our outdoor jackets to be comfortable inside. Some tourist information about sights and restaurants would have been helpful. Light and Bright was chilly and unwelcoming for us.

Property was very clean and well stocked with necessities. Easy check in and out. The kitchen drawers/doors were a bit difficult to open due to no knobs which I believe they just hadn’t installed yet. But overall a great place to stay?

The house was very comfortable. We would have loved to open the windows, but there were no screens. The patio was not closed off so we couldn't sit outside with the dogs. Be sure to get there before dark as there are no reflective numbers by the road to identify the house.

We have a great stay while we were here to close out summer on the lake. Plenty of parking and nice to relax after boating all day.

4 of us went on a 3 day waterfall adventure and this was our first stay. The home was very clean and exactly what we needed. We were able to cook and we used the washer/dryer as we were on motorcycles and got caught in the rain. Perfect stay, quiet, clean and nice. Thank you so much! The only thing I would recommend would be a fan upstairs.

Very nice place to stay . Neighbors dogs right outside of bedroom window yapped non stop consistently from 10pm to 3am but that’s not the property owners fault . Also a woman sat in driveway and got out and was looking in windows taking pictures . Saw me and didn’t say a word . I would assume if it was the property owner they would have said something. Seemed odd,

The house was perfect for us and in a great location, on a quiet country road, but still within a short distance to state parks and stores. The house was clean and spacious, with a nice yard. The owners were very nice, easy to get in touch with and had quick responses. We had a great time exploring the state parks and visiting family, with a nice place to stay!

There were flies everywhere, dead on the floor, and we killed probably 20 more. Floors were not clean and there was a stain in the upstairs bedding pillow. We would not stay here again.

Close to Pate’s Ford, plenty of space for vehicles and trailers/boats as well as for the dogs to play fetch. Worked perfect for two couples!
