Nancy, the host did a great job of making sure I arrived ok and if I needed any information about the area. She was very knowledgeable about the Town of Canandaigua and the surrounding area.

The property is a lovely lakefront house with upper and lower porches overlooking dock and lake. The mid-Sept weather was gorgeous; kayaked twice and even managed a (chilly) swim in the lake. Having a piano in the living room was special; it was fun trying to remember my piano lessons from 60 years ago. The house is conveniently located just a few minutes from town with several restaurants and Wegman's that offers prepared meals that can be warmed up. The Heron Hill winery is a 20 min scenic drive south on the West Lake Rd.Although I was born and grew up in Canandaigua, I'd never taken a cruise on the Canandaigua Lady, which was a delight. See below photo of house taken from the boat.

Dealing with the property manager for this property was strange, extremely painful and borderline unacceptable. First she wanted me to crate my dog while I was away which I think is inappropriate for a ‘pet friendly’ listing. Next she was very weird about the check in process. I had to text her my drivers license then take a photo of my car with the license plate of front of her property to get the entrance code to open the door. Then when I got there and texted her SHE FAILED TO ANSWER FOR HALF AN HOUR!!!! I was completely disgusted and was starting to think I had been scammed and would be forced to turn around and cancel my plans. Completely unacceptable in my opinion. Then her place has stuff EVERYWHERE. Then on the last night that I stayed there she texted me with information about what I had used in the house like she had entered the premises without telling me. I will never stay there again and I would encourage anyone else to have an extreme amount of pause before booking here.

Property was fine for our group, but a group of 48 year old men shouldn’t be treated like infants from a host who is collecting a high fee for their property.

We had a great stay at this house. Communication with the host was excellent, and she was on top of any issue that arose. This home was perfect for my family members (all grown now) to each have a place of their own, while still allowing perfect together-time. Perfect access to the lake with absolutely gorgeous views, lovely grounds and visiting ducks!

There was some confusion around check-in. We booked this rental just 2 days in advance and didn't receive the owner's email with their rental contract until we arrived in Canandaigua. It was a long electronic form with many paragraphs that had to be initialed, and this we had to do on a phone in the car, on somewhat clumsy software, in order to receive the door code. It was eventually agreed that we could get into the house to use the wifi on our laptop. With patience and persistence on everyone's part, we worked it out.
