Dad's Cottage ★ Private waterfront plus 3 King suites★

Our extended family of 12 had a fantastic week at Dad's Cottage. The host was exceptionally helpful both before and during our stay, making the whole experience seamless. The home was spacious and thoughtfully laid out, comfortably accommodating our group. Each bedroom was comfortable, the kitchen was well-equipped for large meals, and the all-season room overlooking the lake became our favorite gathering spot. The location is ideal—close to everything yet peaceful. We've stayed on Canandaigua Lake many times, and we truly enjoyed staying here. We'd absolutely return.

I am somewhat reluctant to sing the praises of Dad's Cottage because I'd prefer fewer competitors the next time we want to rent it. That said, we found this a very congenial setting for our family gathering in July. Its location, not far from the Canandaigua Yacht Club, meant there was often some interesting sailing going on in eyesight. The kayaks and Sunfish, and stand-up paddleboard were great assets. The back porch looking out over the lake was a terrific semi-indoor spot and the shade in the backyard in the afternoon made it an attractive outdoor area. The house was well stocked and the owners were responsive to questions. We appreciated that it was an easy drive to Wegmans. This was our third rental on the Finger Lakes and the best so far. Potential downsides: there is not a lot of yard between the house and the lake. This means the firepit may send smoke into the lake-front bedroom, so we didn't risk a fire. Not a dealbreaker for us, but it might be for some. The lake is accessed for swimming off ladders, so if a walk-in to the water is important, this should be considered. The AC system is not super quiet, but we prefer fresh air and only used it when the heat got unbearable. We prefer the west side of the lake for morning sun and afternoon shade, so this house fits our preference in that regard.

Wonderful visit. The dock and lake were very close and lake relatively shallow by the shore so it could be enjoyed with our 2 - 5 year olds! Great accommodations - 4 king suites covered the adults and two rooms with twin beds were perfect for the kids. Rooms were very comfortable and well equipped. Well stocked kitchen. Everyone had a great time! Only complaints - nits but if you are going there there is no coffee maker just a big keurig maker. Lots of pods so we had coffee but if you prefer the fresh brewed not there. Also no soap in showers but easily fixed. Also a big plus - there were lots of games, books and toys for the kids. And lovely neighborhood! Would highly recommend for a wonderful family vacation! Delightful weather for end of July too!

Wonderful property for building memories with family and friends. The kids loved the array of water toys at the property. We are already planning a return trip for next year!

Everything a family could possibly need was provided in this house. The house was very clean and ready when we arrived. The housekeeper was just finishing up her work, so showed us around and left her number in case we needed her assistance. We brought our own boat and tied up at the dock, steps from the house. We used the Kayaks and stand up paddle board as well. The house is very close to Canandaigua, making trips to town and Wegmans very easy. We are talking about going back!

We can’t say enough about this wonderful place…it by far exceeded our expectations. It was everything we could have possibly wanted and more. It did not feel like a rental…it was a “home”. The pictures definitely do not do it justice…it’s even nicer than the pictures. The open floor plan gave us space to all be together but the house is big enough that we could have space to ourselves if we wanted. The location is perfect…close to town and grocery stores (we LOVE Wegmans) as well as right by the yacht club where we could watch the sailboats going by. It was very clean, very well equipped and the beds were all very comfortable. The outdoor space was great too….for gatherings during the day or around the fire pit at night. Our family hadn’t ALL been together in years and this was the perfect spot. We rented boats as well as using the kayaks provided. We could not have asked for a better place to all come together from different parts of the country to celebrate our anniversary. This was the perfect rental and we would highly recommend it.

Our family rents lake houses every two years and this was by far our favorite place there is nothing negative to say about it. If you're considering it do it.
