Kachina Pueblo, a great place to stay

The dog run was perfect for our little dog. It was a great place to stay. Secluded and comfortable. I even took naps in the loft and I never take naps! Very quiet and serene place. We enjoyed it very much.

Beautiful view, home was very comfortable. Nice and quiet area. Could use a tv in the master bedroom though.

My family and I had such a wonderful stay. It’s just what we needed. Everything was perfect. The home had everything we needed. I slept amazing and had plenty of pillows available which I appreciate. Definitely a hidden gem. We are already planning another trip soon.

The home was in a very nice location. Off the beaten path with amazing views from the deck. The owners insured that we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Unfortunately, the longer we stayed the more we noticed that there were some safety issues with the property. The railing on the deck outback was detached from the home and very very loose. There was some decking that was caved in which made me question the integrity of the supports below. There was definitely some dry rot under the windows in the living room, and some siding was peeling away from the home itself. A minor note of concern was that the outside light didn’t work. Either the bulbs needed to be changed or the switch just didn’t work. In all fairness, I did not contact the owners to potentially change the bulbs. There was a light at the end of the entryway to the home that worked and providing enough light for us in the evening.

I liked the property itself. The dog area was a necessity. The scenery was beautiful. The only thing we didn't like about the property was that there was dirty towels in the bathroom and none of the trash was taken out prior to us getting there.

This is our second stay here. You cannot beat the view or location. The house is completely secluded, but part of the road to get to the house is not paved. I felt completely safe in our Jeep, but I wouldn't go in our small sedan for fear of the bottom scratching. When we arrived, the house was not cleaned. We messaged the owners as we were not sure if we were a day early. Mimi was there in 20 minutes to clean the place as we waited awkwardly trying to stay out of her way. She advised that the house had been empty for a week and that they were having issues finding a reliable cleaning crew. Chuck stopped by the next day to refund us the cleaning fee, which was appreciated. Both expressed their embarrassment with the situation and did work to make it right. They have a huge TV, but the sofa is very worn and offers no support. You have to use pillows to make it bearable. The home has a full kitchen including a dishwasher, 1 full bathroom and a powder room. There is a gym and a sauna on the lower level, but we did not use them on this stay.

Located at the top of a hill, this property is fully secluded from the town. The serene views and smell of catclaw acacia and ponderosa pines sets the peaceful mood. This property is a vintage treasure of a moment in time.

Clean and quiet, with a great view! Also, very close to town for shopping and dining.

Cozy mountain getaway, well off the beaten tourist traps, nestled high on top of the hill as the last house at the end of the curvy road up to a breath-taking, picturesque view of the lush valley brimming with wildlife below. Well-lit porch leads to front door that opens to reveal a spacious, well-lit living room with an oversized television, books, games, puzzles, and amusements for all ages. The dining area accommodates 6; a dated but well-furnished kitchen includes every necessity you could want or need, from pasta to jelly! Upstairs holds a spacious loft that could sleep 3, lined with bookshelves and a half bath. Master bedroom at the end of the hall holds a king-sized bed, dresser, armoire, 2 night tables, chair, and cozy reading area. Plenty of extra linens were provided. The master bath was well lit with a vintage skylight illuminating the full bath with shower, vanity, and toilet. All amenities were provided. Paper was even folded as a bow! Small gym located downstairs & a cute dog run. Age-related issues already stated in other reviews. Use caution on the deck when enjoying morning coffee with the elk! And watch footing on loose tiles in kitchen and bath. Those desiring to use the grill may wish to bring their own lighter. A very secluded spot to appreciate nature.

This house has a great view! Unfortunately the house needs attention & maintenance. The carpet needs cleaning,. The stove was missing two knobs & was not usable. The refrigerator was not available when we arrived. We put everything in the freezer till the fridge cooled off. There’s no light in frig, an overhead light in kitchen. There was clothes in washer & in dryer, so it wasn’t usable. The bedding & bath linens were stored across from washer/dryer in garage. where there was rodent feces all around. House needs attention. Cleaning & repairs. Like I said, had a great view and saw wildlife.

too bad the view on balcony is obstructed by railing. if ever a remodel, raise the bar a foot. put in smaller tv to the left on a pull out swivel to preserve the view from the living room.

Check-in is always easy here, and the space is always clean and inviting. The views from the balcony are unmatched, and we love staying here!

Everything was amazing.

The Kachina Pueblo was an absolutely incredible retreat for my family and me. The spectacular views and privacy - WOW! The fact that the space is pet friendly completed the stay for us. We hope it is available again in the future and would be grateful if we could return. Chuck and Mimi are wonderful host and the sauna and gym access certainly was the icing on the cake.

It was great nice and peaceful.

We enjoyed the stay. The place was clean and comfortable. We chose this location as we were hunting close by and did not feel like roughing it. We had no problems. It is at the end of a road overlooking Payson..very nice. Note that the residence was probably built in the early 80's (sorry I am an architect and details) and we loved the period textile art.

My wife and I always enjoy our stay here. The view is outstanding and the home is comfortable.

Mimi and Chuck were very nice and welcoming. We had an issue with the couch and they immediately ordered a replacement.

Overall good getaway for Holiday. Definitely secluded with views. The couch definitely needs replaced. Additional seating would recommended. The grill does not work recommend checking regulator as switching tank did not work unable to grill steaks, barely warmed. Not all burners work on stove We adapted, as it was all about being together

This property and home were beautiful. We used the sauna after hiking all day, then relaxed on the patio. Location was nice and quiet, very scenic. We woke up to see to a few visitong elk and a javalina in the morning. The home was very clean and nicely furnished. 10/10 experience and would definitely recommend to anyone.

This guest home was amazing. Very large and clean. The bedroom was very nice, such a comfortable bed. Slept so good. Kitchen had everything needed to cook a great meal. The balcony was spectacular, what an amazing view. Met our host Mimi, very welcoming. One of our best stays yet.

Property as described. Very clean and well equipped. Very close to restaurants as well great view and even better stargazing. Enclosed dog run made it perfect for our dogs Would definitely recommend and will be back.

I was a repeat client. Quiet spot with nice views. Coyotes are nearby at night but they stayed away from my dog. The unit is on the garage away from the main house.

The property was gorgeous and had excellent views. We saw elk and other wildlife every single day. The location is very central to downtown and everything that we wanted to do. Overall, we had a great time, the property was very nice and we hope to be back in the future

Property a little dated/needing some cosmetic repairs, but the location was beautiful, looking out over the town of Payson and to the mountains in the distance.

We came for our anniversary weekend with our dog and the place was lovely. It was clean, with beautiful views. Yes, it is older but still great for solo or couples traveling. It is down a narrow drive that gets you away from the main drag so you won't be walking anywhere, but that's why we liked it - quiet!

Very nice and quiet area. Easy check in and check out. But house definitely needs upgrades and attention. Furniture is very old and unstable. Carpet has pet pee stains in upstairs and downstairs so there’s a faint pee odor when you first walk in the house. The balcony is super unstable and loose wouldn’t recommend leaning up against it or touching it.

Enjoyed our stay very much. No complaints at all. We would definitely stay again.

This house is beautiful but has some maintenance issues such as tiles coming up in the master bath and a cabinet door falling off, a beautiful but very saggy couch that was hard for us old folks to get out of, windows that didn't open and close, a stove where only two of the 4 burners worked, old mesh chairs on the deck that rotted through while we were sitting in one. However, these are all relatively minor maintenance fixes that once corrected will give this property back its 10 status. The narrow private road to the property is also in need of maintenance with broken pavement and several pot holes that made it difficult to navigate in the dark. But even with the maintenance issues we loved the place. We saw 4 Elk one morning and a Coyote the next morning.

We very much enjoyed the amazing view.The location of the house was close to all that was needed. We were, however, disappointed with the cleanliness of the house and we found a live scorpion on the kitchen floor. Thank you.

Mixed! The location and views are great! Cleanliness was good. Furniture is acceptable but not super comfortable. Kitchen had everything you would need but dated. Deck was concerning! Railing at one end was screwed into rotten wood and had no integrity (potentially very dangerous). Nice having a gas grill but it didn't heat up past 250d. Took forever to grill some burgers.

We really enjoyed the location with a beautiful view. The place was spacious, relaxing and inviting. We found the place to be clean but needs some basic updates and fixes.

The property is as listed. The deck off the back has a quiet, somewhat obstructed view - a nice place for morning coffee. The home is an addition off the top of their garage. There are many places on the exterior that are in need of repair, but the rental price reflects that. The interior was clean with the exception of the bathroom floor. There was also an adult scorpion in the dishwasher after we used it. The code to get in was wrong when we arrived, and even when changed the door was difficult to use. We ended up just leaving it unlocked when we exited.

The property has a spectaular view, perched on top of a mountain. The property was very clean, the king sized bed was appreciated and comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay. The road up to the house was a bit of a challenge at first, its a private road and not maintained by the county...but we got used to it. When opening the front door, put in the code and then pull out toward you turning the handle before opening inward.A nice peaceful place to stay

Clean, fresh and everything you need to accommodate your stay. House is outdated but has charm to it. Highly recommend as we see multiple have to replace the couch, it has seen better days, very uncomfortable. Love the huge bed in master bedroom. bedroom. you practically sat on the floor.

Nice quiet neighborhood. We saw the neighborhood Cow Elk and a wild pig.The home is on top of the highest peak. You can see the entire valley.

I needed someplace to regroup with my sanity and emotional state of mind. Thisnwas the perfect place to do just that. The visits from the local wildlife were the bonus!

Quiet and private with great views. I walk my dog to the top of the mountain (trail off the driveway). He loves to sniff the elk scent and I enjoy the mountain and rim views. We did see a coyote. The master is comfortable, the second bedroom is a loft. Good hosts and we are up to our 6th visit.

My boyfriend and I and our two dogs stayed there for just one night and it was a cute place. It has a very sweet vintage western charm to it with amazing views! The place was generally very clean but it is very vintage and in turn does have some lack of cleanliness but overall very clean. Chuck and Mimi were very easy to communicate with especially since we had such a last minute booking. We were thoroughly enjoying our stay until I had a baby scorpion fall from the skylight onto my shoulder after getting out of the shower. This incident put a tamper on the rest of our stay but the hosts gladly compensated us and everything ended up working out just fine. Besides that, everything was perfect. Beautiful location and plenty of useful amenities especially for the price!

My boys and i had a wonderful 2 day trip!

The view from the back deck is beautiful. You sit high up on a hill facing south so you see the sunrise and sunset. The kitchen could be better organized and updated. The wood furniture needs to be oiled. We enjoyed cooking steaks on the BBQ but there were no sharp knives to cut with :(. There are no mixing bowls. The dog run was a great asset. I would stay here again but I would bring many of my own kitchen basics. One reason I prefer a VRBO over a hotel room is that I can prepare my own meals and enjoy the beautiful views.

This place definitely has a fun, but definitely different structure to this place. Cleanliness was okay a lot of things were rewashed before use some stuff was dirty and placed in cabinets.Most of the furniture are very close to their very last days as the couch bends when someone sits on it and the chair legs are very nimble except the hard wood table and chairs. I assumed incorrectly thinking the dog yard was a backyard it is not small dog run. Overall it was fine for what it was used for to sit and relax.

We stayed here 3 years ago and loved it, and was happy to return. The property is very well kept, and all went very well. The location at the top of a mountain gives outstanding views, even though it is so close to conveniences in the Payson area. We would definitely stay here again.
