Your dream Charleston getaway awaits in our newly renovated 2BR apartment on James Island. Our space boasts two memory-foam Queen beds and a cozy futon for ultimate relaxation. Experience the best of both worlds with a short 10 min drive to Folly Beach and 12 mins to Downtown. Our full kitchen and bath provide convenience, while the large, shaded, fenced-in backyard is perfect for creating memories with family and friends. For added fun, we offer beach chairs, towels, and a Bluetooth stereo.



The Space:

This spacious, well designed apartment offers a full kitchen with all the essentials, comfortable tiled shower with bench seat, rain shower-head, and detachable shower-head, easy key-code access, Wifi, two flat screen smart TV's, shared laundry room, inside and outside seating areas, and ample space in the large shady backyard to play and entertain. For guest convenience we provide coffee, sugar, bath and beach towels, bed linens, paper towels, toilet paper, and soaps.



**Please note that road construction is currently underway on our street. While it has not been a major issue, occasional noise and slight traffic disruptions are possible.



Guest Access:

In addition to the apartment guests have access the to the fenced-in 1/2 acre backyard, with ample parking for cars, boats, RVs etc. (backyard is shared with home owner and other guests that my be staying in the detached Cozy Island Cottage located in the rear of the property). Guests also have access and use of shared laundry room (detergent is provided) and outdoor kitchen (please notify the host if you would like to use the outdoor kitchen, so a quick tutorial can be provided) and the outdoor shower.



The Neighborhood:

Centrally located in a convenient James Island neighborhood, only a quick 5-mile drive or Uber ride to both Folly Beach and Downtown Charleston. Beautiful James Island County Park is close by as well as restaurants, bars, shopping, banking, and convenience stores within a half-mile.

Other Things to Note:

There are three rental units on the property that may be housing other guests during your stay. The units are all separate with designated outdoor areas and parking, but are on the same half acre property so please be courteous of others.



The Island Hideout is the unit attached to the front house located on ground level.



There are cameras located at the front exterior entrance and and over the backyard.

    We had a lovely time! Arrived through a gate; inside yard was pretty, with table seating, an outdoor shower, and plenty of parking. Inside were two queen beds and a fold-down couch (could comfortable hold only one person), one bathroom with a shower, a kitchen (with dishes/pots/utensils), and a laundry/dryer room with lockable door (shared with second floor tenants). Two TVs with subscriptions to Netflix and Prime, plenty of sheets and towels, shampoo/conditioner/soap provided. Beach was an 8 min drive away; we found plenty to do during the two nights we stayed. Thank you!

    Stayed here to visit my son who recently moved to Charleston. The space was perfect and within driving distance of many points of interest. It had everything you could ask for. The bed was so.....comfy and the shower was wonderful. The property was very clean. The beach chairs were a nice feature. We will be back .

    Lovely spot and great location on James Island. Perfect place to come back to after a day of beach and exploring Charleston. Super easy check in and check out process, and the hosts were proactively communicative and super friendly. Highly recommend!

    Like the island location. Easy to travel around the area as close to Charleston downtown, beaches and other islands. Hosts were very helpful and responded immediately when needed.

    My mom recently moved to Bishop Gadsden (a retirement home) and no longer has a guest bedroom to stay in, so my siblings and I looked into alternatives (hotel, stay with friends, etc…) Island Retreat is the PERFECT solution. It’s one of three properties on the “compound”. It’s clean, safe and so easy, which is just what I need. It’s also close to the Walmart if you need anything. I will say the bathroom is teensy (no counter space at all and a tiny shower) so I think it wouldn’t be great for a group of friends - just something to keep in mind. Other than that it’s pretty much perfect.

    It was a lovely stay. One of the best features was the outdoor shower for cleaning off after going to the beach! So convenient. The owners were very responsive and helpful. Appreciate an easy check in system and the security of the gate! Location was fantastic, central to folly, west Ashley, downtown, mount pleasant… all places we wanted to visit. I got to run away to Starbucks one morning for an hour to read and my husband and 7 year old were able to easily bike up to where I was to then hop in the car to go down to the beach so I loved how’s bike-able this location was. Inside, things were nicely labeled so you knew where EVERYTHING was. Fresh sheets and bedspreads, clean floors and bathroom. Air purifier in central location. Generously left snacks on counter. Enjoyed it :)

    We loved this stay! It was the perfect spot in between Folly and Charleston. Although we didn't hang around the property too much due to a wedding, it was comfortable enough for 5 people and would have been a cool place to hang and cook dinner. I would definitely stay here again.

    Perfect landing place between the beach and downtown. Check In was easy, grocery store, gas stations all near by. Would definitely stay here again.
