Hillsdale, Michigan
If you like privacy, peace and quiet and need a place to rest your head after working all day, this apartment is for you. Located in the back of the building, The Quietest Side, this private apartment has a full bed in a cozy bedroom, a compact but adequate bathroom with shower, and a roomy kitchen. Apartment 4 is a ground level apartment with its own entrance outside. It does have a couple of steps that lead up to the porch/deck right outside the apartment. There is a parking space right outside this one too.
Guests enjoy the downtown location, and close proximity to Hillsdale College. Everything is within walking distance!
It is a self check in, keyless entry (room code is sent the night before check in). Check in is typically anytime after 4pm, and check out is by 11am. Owner Nancy and her assistant Rebekah both live nearby and can be reached via phone call or text if you need anything. You will find each of our team members (housekeeping included), whether it be in person or via phone, to be friendly and caring.
Built before the Civil war, this apartment house is almost 200 years old. As such, it has all of the charm, and quirks, that old houses bring.
Formerly the home of Merton Fitzpatrick, one of the founders of the original Republican Party, the house has seen many generations of occupants and is being restored while still operating today. Six of the 8 apartment units are reserved for guests. The other two house long time tenants who love and understand Old Houses.
We enjoy the eclectic decor (Which Nancy has collected when she goes antiquing) , and cozy "home away from home" feel this old house has. We hope that you will too!
Owner was very communicative and accommodations were fine
It was extremely cute and comfortable! Nancy is very nice.
Blinds torn, ceiling coming down, nasty yard, Mold smell in bathroom. The housekeeper did a great job in cleaning. Property itself needs repair.
The bed is a double at best but you just can’t beat the location.
Well located place to stay if visiting Hillsdale College. Has all you need on a first floor address. Information says good for a couple, but the bed is a full, not queen. So like being close and a non-active sleeper!
Needs to be updated but nice and clean place. Will be checking my dates for next time and availability also. Thank you
The only issue that I had was the check-in procedure. I never received the code to get in the house. Once I did, I wasn’t instructed on how to lock the door to leave. Nancy walked me through it. I suggested a sign on the inside to explain it.
It is old but clean and bed was cozy. If you need to get a hold of the property manager CALL don't message on the app if it the same day. She is very responsive to phone calls.
Love staying any place Nancy runs. Very clean, and she is very accommodating.
This place was cozy! It’s 3 blocks from Hillsdale College campus so it was so much better than driving back and forth to Jackson. I would certainly stay again!
I've stayed at this little apartment before, and it's location and easiness of parking (right outside the entry door), makes it perfect for my occasional trips back to the college I attended. Nancy always leaves snacks, coffee, and water, which is a wonderful bonus. It's a good place to have when you know your vacation is going to be busy and you just need a bed to rest. There are kitchen chairs but there is no comfy chair to lounge.
Definitely would not be staying here again. It was clean but that's about it. A challenge to communicate with Nancy after several vm and emails were sent. The bed is small, maybe a full and mattress sags. No plug in bathroom. The rest of the tenants do not keep this property very nice on the outside. There's a broken down lawnmower in the yard, an array of broken bicycles on the porch and rusty unusable patio furniture on the porch. A real disappointment.
