Il Castellano is a large country house, perfectly restored with respect to its original character. Situated in the San Ginesio district, it lies within half an hour of both the Adriatic coast and the Sibillini mountain range and National Park. It stands at roughly 450m above sea level in a very peaceful location in its own Mediterranean wood, and surrounded by a large lawn. The house sleeps 14 with 3 double rooms, 6 singles and one twin, with three bathrooms each with shower. There is a largeswimming pool set amongst an olive grove with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside.

There is a strong WiFi internet connection at the house.

Perhaps the most attractive feature are the woods which stretch behind the house for 5 acres, with pathways, benches and tables, ideal for picnicking, or just to enjoy the beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. All for exclusive use by the guests.

Outside the house.: Surrounding the house is a large area of land, part of which comprises the lawn, but mainly consisting of a wood set with walkways and paths. Surrounding the wood are fields, which are cultivated throughout the year. The whole area is beset by trees and shrubs of Mediterranean origin, such as oaks, Holm-oaks, olives, willows, fruit trees, and brooms.
Also, the area is populated by many animals, which roam freely: you can easily come across hares, pheasants, squirrels, deer, wild boar, porcupine, etc.
To the south of the house flows the Entogge stream, along which run paths accessible by foot or mountain bike which allow total immersion into the natural environment.
Otherwise you can simply relax and bathe in the sun, or read a book beneath the shade of a hundred-year-old oak tree.

Immediately around the house is an large garden with outside seating, sun chairs, umbrellas, a wood fire and BBQ for cooking, and an outside shower.

Horse-riding and tennis are both available nearby.
There is also a large swimming-pool as well as tennis courts in the nearby town of San Ginesio (10 mins by car).
A bank, chemist's, Post Office and supermarket are all available in both San Ginesio, and Colmurano.

3 families from Germany (aged 4 to 54) enjoyed staying here. Great landscape (take your bike with you if you are not afraid of short 20% climbs). Incredible pool with solar-shower (used every day for hours). We used the wood-fired oven a few times for perfect pizza. Communication with the owner (Marco) was perfect. Easy check-in and -out. Dont trust Googel: There is no road dividing the house from the pool. Dont drive with a Porsche 911 to the house - he will not have enough clearance. But every normal car will do. Back in Germany we miss the decelerated daily routine we had and the pool. If you like quietness, italian coffee and ice, if you dont need 5-star-hotel-service and a red carpet: Come here to visit !

We loved our stay at Il Castellano which my brother booked for his 50th birthday. There were 14 family members in our party and with the 3 bathrooms we had plenty of room and space. Such a wonderful area to be in, sitting under the tree out the front of the villa, overlooking the valleys and mountains, its idyllic. The pool was really enjoyable and kept very clean by the filters. We had a bbq a lot of evenings (when we weren't out) and we ate outside altogether in the garden. The table in the kitchen was big enough for all of us for breakfast The kitchen was rustic and well equipped beware of the toaster though, you could start cooking the toast the day before lol Great to have a dishwasher and a washing machine which were well used The children enjoyed the games room and there were quite a few inflatables for them to enjoy in the pool The owner is very friendly, doesn't speak a word of English but happily chats away to you in Italian, funnily enough though most of the time we kinda got what he was saying The villa can't be found by satnav, but as we were met and showed where it was, it was easy to find from then on. There was a donkey and her baby on the road to the villa, they were there most days but not all, really cute San Ginesio has a market on Sunday to get the local produce but it is in driving distance, not walking distance We flew into Venice, which was about 4 and half or 5 hours drive, Rome was about a 3 hour drive away, we drove to Orto and took the train into Rome But there were some beautiful places to visit a lot closer, easier and quicker to travel to and it is not far to drive to the coast and to the many walled towns around the villa. A very comfortable villa, in a marvellous area of Italy

Oh wow what a brilliant place. We have stayed in many places in Italy and none have been as well equipped as this house. The pool is really lovely. We loved San Ginesio and tried out many restaurants in the area, all of which were excellent. Mario is wonderful and Gabriel is extremely helpful. We were there for 2 weeks in August, and I if I could I'd go back next year I would. It's perfect for relaxing, visiting the mountains or for the beach. I would definitely recommend.

Il Castellano was perfect for our group of 3 families with young children. The pool was lovely and the gardens around the house meant the children had lots of space to play. The house was informal in style which suited us. Mario was lovely and Gabriel extremely helpful. Highly recommended.

We were two families spending a fortnight in July at Il Castellano. The house is exquisite, the kids loved the pool, I enjoyed long biking tours in the hilly roads (thanks to Gabriel for arranging rental of road bkes!). Cooking facilities were excellent. The only downsides were the long distance from major airports and very hot July nights. Great for cycling enthusiasts! Plenty of room for large families/parties

We stayed in the villa with our extended family in August 2007. The villa is well appointed and spacious, and the grounds are astounding! Whether it is larking around in the pool (very good pool, raised up in a fenced and gated area, surrounded by young olive trees with great views - very safe) or reading in the shade of the magestic oak taking in the valley, or having a family meal from the pizza oven and barbeque room, it is the most relaxing and beautiful spot. The nearby town of San Ginesio, a medieval walled town with a lovely square and several good resturants, is welcoming and charming, with a great parade through some public gardens. Its about an hours drive to the coastline, but it makes a good day excursion as there are plenty of beaches with facilities along the nearby streach. This area is more frequented by Italians on holiday, and really does feel like an Italian holiday. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We stayed in this villa in July/Aug 2008. The villa is charming. The pool great and the views are just stunning. In addition, the owner, although speaking no English, is pleasant and helpful, without being intrusive.

My family and friends stayed in villa for 2 weeks in the summer. The accomodation was great but the grounds it was in were amazing! The pool was excellent and ideal for both small children and adults. It is set back from the house so ideal when children are playing outside in the vast gardens. The landlord, Mario went out of his way to be helpful and welcoming, despite the language barrier. We would recommend this villa without hesitation.
