Waterbury Center, Vermont
Comfortable, unpretentious, much-loved home built in 1868. Near Trapp Family Lodge, State Park and Stowe Mountain Resort. Hiking, bike trails and swimming/boating in the nearby lake. Minutes to great restaurants in Stowe and Waterbury.
The house was built in 1868. The yard is open, park-like with more that a dozen distinctive, mature sugar maples. The downstairs windows and doors are original, wavy glass and all. The floors are original for the most part, too. The home has had only four family owners during its life who loved it very much and took care of it. Foundation laid by hand with some immense stonework visible.
Guests have access to all amenities and rooms in the house.
We live in a nearby house on the property so we are accessible to guests if needed.
The neighborhood: Quiet and rural in character. Single family homes for the most part on a paved road.
Public transit (bus) available, but not very convenient. We are about 3 miles from Exit 10 on I-89 and a 25 minute drive to the base lodge of the Stowe Mountain Resort, 15 minutes to the Trapp Family Lodge.
No smoking, no pets and no more than a total of 5 guests, please.
We were a party of six who spent 5 days here early Oct 2015. The house was very comfortable and equipped with everything necessary for self catering. The neighborhood was quiet yet close to Stowe, Ben and Jerry's, quaint villages, covered bridges etc. Also a large supermarket was just down the road. The general location was outstanding allowing us to explore and hike all over North Vermont with brilliant fall colors. However a car is necessary for this. Our hosts were nearby and both willing and able to help with any questions or concerns we had. A great place to stay.
