Loved the historical charm and layout of the property. Check-in process was easy using the coded keyless entry. The backyard was enormous and we enjoyed the peace and privacy of the property. However, the gas grill was very dirty and needed a thorough cleaning before we could even use it. Also, the flavorizer/heat distribution bars were rusty and corroded and should be replaced. Excellent wi-fi in the farmhouse. Softest bed I've ever slept in, but I found it to be very uncomfortable. Nice flat screen TV, but it only has capability for streaming services, no cable or satellite service. The bathroom on the main floor was spacious with a good shower and plenty of hot water.
Lovely but rainy weekend., couldn’t use amenities such as kayaks because of the weather but hiked Mount Cardigan and enjoyed the warmth of the BnB.
Very nice, comfortable. Plenty of room for our group. Country setting, but not far from town. Interesting history of the property.
We loved our stay at the Story Homestead. The house was beautifully decorated for the holidays, and we enjoyed snowshoeing in the woods on the newly fallen snow. The king bed was comfortable and the kitchen well-stocked with cooking implements.
We had a lovely sister weekend at this property. The accommodations are cozy and warm and really give you the feel of an older farmhouse. It's quintessential old New England. We loved the local hiking. The stairs are as advertised - steep with no handrail, and there is only one bathroom connected to the main bedroom, but again - this is a farmhouse from the 1700s, so keeping that in mind it was great!
Nice quiet location close to many outdoor recreation opportunities. Liked the sense of home it gave. Only one small issue was with the electronic door lock, it stopped working and were unable to lock the door when we checked out at 11:00. Called number given for assistance and also sent email but had not received a reply as of the time of this review. Would recommend for anyone looking for a quiet getaway.
Horrible experience. A single 1st floor window unit does not qualify as an air conditioned. There were lots of spider webs, stained area rug on the dirty bathroom floor, ancient bed mattresses and a bevy steep stairway to the second floor without a railing. Since the only bathroom was on the 1st floor anyone needing to use it would have to navigate it in the dark. Not a good setup. Can NOT recommend this to anyone - especially at the price. Looking for a refund.
We had a nice stay at this rural 200+ year old home. It was our home base as we explored NH. Wish that Enfield was a bit closer to attractions like Lake W and the White Mountains. We did so much driving. The property owner, Mike, was very attentive. Our son was stung by bees that made a nest under the picnic table and Mike got an exterminator out to the house immediately. There were spices in the cupboard, plenty of towels and beds were comfy. If you like rustic and off the beaten path, you’ll be happy here.
We loved our stay at the Story Homestead! Great history and hiking in the area. Fun, delicious places to eat. The house was perfect! A small issue when we arrived was solved within minutes by our host. Totally recommend staying here!
Just a perfect holiday retreat! Booked a get-away for us and our adult kids in New Hampshire. When we arrived the house was welcoming and tastefully decorated for the season - it was perfect. The house was clean, roomy with a well equipped kitchen and a solid wifi connection (very important) with all these digital adults. We were visiting during the cold days of Dec/Jan but this old farmhouse stayed warm and comfy. The house is well furnished with space to visit and the ability to find solitude. Lots of outdoor space to play in the snow or hike the trails behind the house. We even pulled the sleds out for a couple of runs down the hill. Recommend this for a quiet, enjoyable get-away.
