Stayed Sep 16, 2023The beds were comfortable but the pillows were not. We could not sleep on them. The toilet was very low to the ground. I own rentals and the first thing I changed was the old toilets. The unit was in the rear of the building but provided no off-street parking. The ceiling fan did not work in the one bedroom.

Stayed Apr 25, 2022What an adorable place! Well decorated, beds were very comfortable, everything well stocked. Light filled, yet private. Will definitely be staying here again. Just a few blocks to a lot of great restaurants.

Stayed Oct 5, 2025An easy walk to anything we would want to visit and a quick drive to get groceries or do tourist things. Parking was an issue. The only dedicated parking space was reserved for the other unit. Not sure why as it is literally outside our door. We had to squeeze around their car to get to our front door. Street parking was a huge challenge the one night we got back late. We had to circle the block at least 6 times till we finally found a space. The neighboring property has an incredibly bright light that comes on at dusk and shines in the windows all night long. I sleep in a dark room at home and some room darkening curtains would have been greatly appreciated. The kitchen was well-stocked (bring your own salt/pepper and plastic wrap or foil) and the appliances are a dream! The beds were super comfy and the whole place was cozy and bit rustic. We enjoyed our stay!

Stayed Sep 26, 2025Very nice property and just as described in the listing. Location is great - the unit is on the back side of a house on a major road leading onto the downtown peninsula. We were there Fri - Sun and didn’t drive much. It was easy to catch an Uber in front of the house. We did walk back from brunch at Poogan s Porch on Saturday. It was just over a mile and totally doable. Inside the unit was very clean and comfy. Not a ton of space, but enough for us to use as a jumping off point. Both bedrooms were basically identical with comfy queen beds. Communication with the host was very good though I did have to ask for the entry code 10 mins after our check-in time. Not a big deal since they responded right away. We’ll definitely consider this property again in the future!

Stayed Sep 4, 2025We are vrbo owners ourselves, so we know what to look for in a rental. The cleaning company has overlooked things like the air ducts, and the pull out sofa, behind/ under furniture. Otherwise, it’s a very cute place, small, but great location. I’m unclear as to why the bungalow does not get the parking directly next to the door, instead that is for the front of the house.

Stayed Aug 6, 2025Great stay!! Perfect location, walking distance to so many great restaurants and activities. The beds were super comfortable as well and had plenty of towels which was great. The hosts were so flexible with our schedule, we arrived super late (1 AM) and had zero issues getting in which was ideal. Highly recommend staying here!

Stayed Jun 11, 2025We love the property! The only thing we would have changed would be adding blackout curtains in the bedrooms. The security light at the adjoining property made it feel like broad daylight in the middle of the night. Also, didn’t get our door code at 2p. Tried to message and text and finally had to call someone. Not big issues and would stay again!

Stayed Mar 26, 2025Two friends from different places met in the middle for a one-week vacation. We loved that Charleston is so walkable .... easy access to everything on foot (or free buses).79 Spring Street was a great location and the apartment was nearly perfect.

Stayed Jan 1, 2025Really wanted this to be a five star review but a rental of any kind, age and location has to have ample hot water to take a shower. Next to cleanliness and water pressure, having ample hot water is most important. The bungalow was very cute, quaint and historic. Very well renovated. Lots of space and comfort and amenities. Location was great. Just need more than 5 minutes of hot water. Can’t recommend this property nor would I be back in the future, unless they get a hot water heater upgrade.

Stayed Jun 24, 2024We totally enjoyed our stay at the Driftwood Cottage! The location was perfect - we walked to King Street for shopping and eating. We look forward to coming back to Charleston and renting here again. Great space -- very comfortable and quaint. Very comfortable beds and bedding, nice kitchen area with coffee set up, and nice TV room where we watched some movies.

Stayed May 13, 2024A charming place just like the title states. Cool space, cozy, clean, nice linens and towels, well supplied kitchen and over a dozen restaurants within a 10 minute walk. The free trolley stop is just down at the end of the street too. Perfect location.
