Gorgeous Lakefront-Close to Acadia Schoodic+Bar Harbor 4 Kayaks Included-Pets

Very clean, easy access, the kitchen was complete and everything was functional. Very quiet and beautiful pond. The fall colors were fantastic. We would stay again!

Great place! Laura was excellent in responding. Place was very clean and well stocked. George’s Pond was so clear, and swimming was great. Great having access to the kayaks also.

This lovely cottage, on a beautiful clear lake, is a perfect base for hiking Acadia and the Cutler coast as well as kayaking and playing in the water!

The house was wonderfully stocked with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Beautiful location on the lake. Easy dock access. Had great meals and plenty of time shopping and exploring.

We had a wonderful time at Sweet Fern. The house and the lake were both exceptional. The sunroom and deck were our favorite spots, but both bedrooms were also super comfy and we enjoyed many movies in the living room. It was also amazing to have our dog with us, and Sweet Fern was perfectly set up for canine family members as well. As other guests noted, it is a little bit of a hike to some parts of Mount Desert Island, but nice to have the option to visit Acadia or just chill at the lake. There is also not much separation from the neighbor’s property, which wasn’t an issue but good to know if you are looking for solitude. Laura was an exceptional host. Sweet Fern allowed our to have one of our best family vacations to date.

Everything about our stay at Sweet Fern exceeded our expectations. Laura was amazing to work with and truly went above and beyond. The house had everything we needed (and more) and the location was perfect right on the pond. The kids loved the pond, we loved kayaking and so close to MDI and Acadia. You won’t regret renting Sweet Fern!

We enjoyed every moment at the Sweetfern cabin. Laura was wonderful and responsive. The cabin is thoughfully appointed, immaculately clean, and just lovely to be in -- so comfortable and perfect for our family of 4 plus our pup. Sadie enjoyed playing frisbee in the fenced in area and swimming off the dock (as did we all). We took daily sunset kayak trips and had so much fun jumping off the lake's diving board. We took a few day trips to Schoodic peninsula and Bar Harbor, convenientlly located not too far away. I honestly can't think of one thing that we would want differently, everything was perfect, we will definitely be back!

We expected a great week at the lake no matter what, but what made this rental so exceptional was that every time we had a vague need it had been accounted for and provided. Just one example: No dogs are allowed on the furniture BUT Here are some sheets precisely for that purpose (because it’s very hard to train a dog that’s normally allowed on the couch they can’t go on THIS couch). So thoughtful. It was a perfectly appointed rental because it felt like how you would furnish it for your own family, not just strangers that you don’t trust with “the good stuff.” 10/10 we loved it

By far the most well equipped and comfortable vacation rental we have ever stayed in. You could easily relax at this lake retreat, enjoying the lake and the kayaks, having bonfires, grillin’ and chillin’, etc. and you’d have an awesome Maine vacation. It’s also 20-40 minutes away from all the places you’d want to visit in the area. Laura was super responsive and very helpful with anything and everything. Normally there is one or two things you could nitpick, but not at this place. Loves it!!

When you stay at Sweet Fern, it is obvious that the host thought ahead of the main amenities as well as small details to make for a very comfortable, relaxing stay. The kayaks enabled us to explore George's pond and watch the loon family who nested nearby, visit diving board rock, and take in the breath-taking view of the mountains. After a day on the pond, we relaxed by a campfire. The kitchen had everything we needed with regard to pans, dishes, and utensils to prepare meals. The gas grill was extremely convenient. The coffee bar, hand soaps, hand-made afghans on the beds, chargers in the bedroom were small details that were noticed and appreciated. The binder on the table included all of the information we needed. The host responded quickly to questions. We would not hesitate to visit Sweet Fern again.

We loved our return stay and are planning a trip back next summer. It is so peaceful on the lake - especially with the lions calling to each other. The house provided everything we needed to relax.

This is a beautiful location and a very peaceful place. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake and road trips to Acadia National Park. Laura is a very helpful hostess and very responsive to our needs.

We loved our time at Sweetfern! The house was very clean, fully stocked with extra supplies and Laura was extremely helpful and attentive. The lake, kayaks and porch were all thoroughly enjoyed. Internet, appliances, etc all worked well. We loved bringing our dog with us — only wish would have been that he could roam more freely outside of the small fenced in area. We were not comfortable allowing our pup off leash to come with us out to the lake, etc but did feel comfortable with him in the house and in the fenced in area. Area is secluded and perfect for those wanting to get away from it all (but also able to drive into MDI and Acadias within about 45 minutes)! Our kids loved the diving board they kayaked out to and fishing off the dock! The house had everything we may have needed, and more! A great family trip!

Sweet Fern is a beautiful home with all the things you need for an enjoyable stay - kitchen stocked, towels, soap, starter coffee, starter fresh eggs, and many other items. Located on a pond filled with fish and visually marked obstacles so you don't ruin your boat. Easy to get to Acadia, Schoodic, and Bar Harbor among others without the business of the crowded tourist spots. The host was always available to answer questions and make sure everything is to your liking.
