The Neighborhood:

For provisions, Gualala (10 minutes south) has grocery stores, restaurants, and a gas station. Jenner and Bodega Bay are scenic drives south.

Getting Around:

Sea Ranch is located on the Sonoma Coast, approximately 2.5 hours north of San Francisco via Highway 101 to Highway 1. The closest airport is Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa, about 1.5 hours east. A car is essential for exploring the area. The scenic drive along Highway 1 is part of the experience.

Other Things to Note:

Use the provided logs to build a morning fire in the wood stove, curl up by the window to glimpse bobcats passing through the meadow, or set up a board game as a Netflix favorite plays in the background (a DVD player, VCR, VHS library, and free WiFi are also provided). Take your dogs for walks on the private local trails (Good to know: there is a two-dog maximum at this home), stretch out with a good book on the deck, and spend evenings stargazing with your loved ones in the warmth of the private hot tub.

Sea Ranch has three recreation centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis courts. Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times.

Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast.

Spring (April-June) brings a wildflower show across the coastal meadows -- lupine, poppies, and iris paint the landscape. Summer (June-September) brings the warmest days and longest light. Morning fog is common along the coast -- it usually burns off by midday.

Dog friendly. Very clean with a rustic vibe. Hot tub worked just fine if you can handle chlorine. Kitchen well stocked with decent appliances even though we did not cook. Pictures on VRBO are very accurate. The host communicated well in a very timely manner even proactively offering us early check in just as they stated they would if available.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Bobcat House. There were so many cute animals: quail, deer, turkeys, Guinea fowl. The ocean was magnificent and we enjoyed a sunset hike at Gualala Park bluffs. The farmers market was sweet. The house was perfect for our little family and we watched movies together. The kitchen was perfect.

Lovely charming place with great vibes. I really enjoyed staying here. It was comfortable, down to earth, beautiful, clean, and had great energy about it. When we arrived, there were deer in the yard, followed by turkeys, and the occasional swallow swooping around. Just a wonderful place. Very good value, and perfect location. Only suggestion I have is an updated set of glasses and plates, but that's it.

Beautiful house in a very private setting. We had some lovely walks down to the tidal beach. the kids enjoyed seeing the harbor seals at the lookout and we had a family of quail that came to visit in the backyard a few times. gorgeous picture windows and lovely evenings in the hot tub. The kitchen was well equipped but lacking some good frying pans if you like to cook. Sea Ranch is a gorgeous place and we appreciated the guest passes for the pool.

There were three of us - myself, my granddaughter and her partner, along with my little Havanese pup. The house is spacious - we didn't even use the upstairs at all. The kitchen was stocked with necessities like salt/pepper/sugar, various herbs. We enjoyed the hot tub every day and loved seeing a doe and her fawn walk by in the evenings. We watched many birds in the tall trees and felt renewed after our two-night stay. We would definitely rent the house again.

We enjoyed this home tremendously with our families and pup. However, I will say that the beds were hard to our taste, and the pillows seemed old/flat. That was a bummer. Other than that, a great place to stay.

This house was just okay if you are trying to save money the kitchen appliances and pots and pans were horribly outdated and the Teflon was peeling off every single PAN which was a health hazard to cook on I had to go buy my own PAN the bed was extremely uncomfortable and hard but it was less money than all the other houses so if you can overlook those things its ok

The place is very nice, has multiple nice living areas and places to hang out. Downstairs has two queen bedrooms one with an en suite bathroom. The upstairs bedroom has a pair of twin beds and just outside the upstairs bedroom a loft area with a large couch. The upstairs area is better suited to kids. The beds upstairs are uncomfortable and we ended up sleeping on the couch. They are older mattresses on a flat wood platform. I would recommend changing out the mattresses and adding a box spring. Overall the place is very nice and comfortable to hangout and stay.
