Stayed Dec 4, 2020We were fortunate enough to stay in the Viking House for a seasonal rental this winter. We loved the stay and would highly recommend it and can’t wait to come back! Thanks to Malcolm and Dana- you guys made our stay even more special. Londonderry is a great location- 20 minutes from Okemo, 20 minutes from Stratton, 10 minutes from Bromley and 5 minutes from Magic. The house is on a relatively main road, so plowing is good in winter, but traffic is light. There is a grocery store, hardware store (really an everything store) and a couple restaurants less than 5 minutes away. The house is located on a Nordic center which has awesome trails for cross country and snowshoe and when there is no snow, Great for walks/ hiking. Also the house is a 15 minute walk from Lowell Lake State Park and walking along Boynton Rd was nice as well. The walks in the area made it really nice with a dog. Our dog loved it up there- she loved all the wildlife and the windows were low enough for her to look out which made her very happy. The house- the house is as it looks in the pictures. The fireplace is deep which is nice and the wood shed is literally attached to the living room making it easy to throw another log on the fire. The place has pretty much everything you need. There are views of Stratton from the dining room and one of the bedrooms. The internet is great as we worked remotely all winter with no issues. There is a smart TV and cable box in the living room. There are two nice bedrooms with en-suite baths, a smaller bedroom with a double bed and then a kids room with one bunk bed and two more singles. The furniture in the living room is nice and we loved the live edge dining room table. My wife loved the wood burning stove which gave her a little extra heat by where she was working. Charm disclaimer (the place we got married at used that term to make sure guests were aware that the place is not perfect)- this is an older house and there are some funky aspects. For example, there are no closets in the bedrooms. There are hooks to hang clothes and such, but don’t expect a closet. There are also a few doors that go nowhere. This is not a 2020 construction with great huge windows- it is as the pictures show and we loved it. Caretakers are Amazing- shout out to Malcolm and Dana!!! They are amazing and really go above and beyond to welcome you and get you everything you could possibly need.

Stayed Sep 25, 2020Had a very enjoyable trip - the House was very nice and description on site was spot on. very clean , well equipped kitchen . plenty of room. Great location also but a quiet road but quick and easy access to Londonderry. And Dana and team were excellent managers making the pre-visit , check-in and checkout very easy. If I have a couple of small issues they were - no bathroom on 1st floor so it was a pain to go upstairs when watching TV - and also the cable TV is 'basic' cable so the number of channels is very limited - good job I had my laptop to get my FoxNews fix. But minor quibbles. Well worth a visit.

Stayed Jul 7, 2020We escaped the city after almost four months of quarantine because of the coronavirus and had a wonderful and relaxing time here. The farmhouse is similar to what I remember from growing up in Norway and fit our needs perfectly; we were four adults and a toddler and could have added more people. We spent most of the time on the property because of the toddler and enjoyed the outside space, especially the large deck, as well as the spacious and well-appointed living area on the first floor. Dana, the property manager, was very helpful with many ideas and suggestions and responded immediately to our messages. We'll be back!

Stayed Feb 10, 2020A bit of the old ways of Vt. This red farmhouse at a nordic xc ski center is where a family can get outdoors and then gather for dinner and games at the end of the day. The family run house and business keeps to the tradition of enjoying nature in the mountains.

Stayed Mar 6, 2020I rented the Farmhouse for a Snowshoe Running weekend and it proved to be the perfect spot. The Farmhouse was clean (as clean as you can get an old Farmhouse:), cozy and had everything we needed. Everything was labeled clearly and everything from check-in to check-out went very smoothly. I really appreciate that we had access to the Viking Nordic Center Trails as part of our stay. I would highly recommend this property and would definitely book again. Thank you for the warm welcome!

Stayed Jan 24, 2020Dana was responsive, helpful, and accommodating. The property was clean and comfortable. Spacious enough for a group of friends to visit and relax. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate for skiing, but we enjoyed the snowshoe trails and playing board games by the fireplace. My only complaint stems from having a young toddler - outlet covers and baby gates on the stairs would have allowed me to relax more. Luckily we brought one gate with us - two more would have been helpful. That said, definitely would visit again!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We really enjoyed our stay at the barn! The location to the trails (right there!) and the ski rental (right there!) made our cross country skiing dreams come true. It was a cozy house. A perfect Vermont country vibe. Thanks Dana and Malcom!

Stayed Oct 11, 2019The house was super cute. Exactly the cabin in the woods we were hoping for. The fall leaves were STUNNING. Lots of cute towns within 30 min drive of the cabin. We all had a really great time.

Stayed Aug 21, 2019We stayed end of August with two kids, grandparents, and our dog. The house and property are very well maintained. We had a great time. The house was great for hanging out, cooking, eating, watching TV, playing games and the property was great for getting fresh air by sitting out front or walking on the trails behind the house. This time of year (Aug) you don't want to go out at dusk or later because of the bugs but we enjoyed the mornings and afternoons! Lowell Lake State Park is very close and a beautiful place to walk/hike. The kids also enjoyed going to Bromley Fun Zone (I think that's what it's called) which was also very close by. We would recommend this house as a great place to stay. We would love to come back in the fall and the winter!
