Stayed Aug 29, 2019Blown away by the house and hosts. We were met at our car by our hosts, Bill and Cynthia. The property was described as a farmhouse, but it seemed more like a colonial mansion with so much history. The rooms were furnished with antiques that lent so much to the atmosphere. It had space for more than 10 people. It is a working farm, so we got to feed the chickens and milk the goats. If that is not your cup of tea, there are ample grounds to walk around and enjoy the sights. The hosts are wonderful people who live right next to the main house. They are always ready to help to make are stay the best possible. Bottom line: if you need a place for several people to stay in the Charlottesville area, this is the place to stay.

Stayed Apr 16, 2026The home is much larger than pictures show. It’s filled with history and could not be more homey. The owners live next door and are the most lovely people! It’s a gorgeous and serene property. Our spring visit, included baby goats & chicks. As well as, so many beautiful flowers in bloom. I would live here!! 10/10!

Stayed Apr 3, 2026Cynthia and Bill were FANTASTIC hosts! They made our group feel right at home - very responsive and allowed us to do farm activities. We got lucky and one of the goats had her babies while we were there, it was amazing! The property itself was gorgeous. We will be returning!

Stayed Dec 31, 2025Bill and Cynthia were the warmest and most welcoming hosts. The house sits on a large plot between Bill and Cynthia’s home and a large barn for the care of the multitude of animals that you will find here: Chickens, Goats, Horses, and Cows among others. Beware the guard dog! She will smother you with affection and she sheds all year.As far as the house itself, wow! It is a treasure trove of history, older than Monticello, it is filled with fascinating books and memorabilia that would take a lifetime to take in if you so choose. The rooms and beds are spacious and comfortable, and Cynthia and Bill have taken many steps to make your stay as cozy as possible. For an older home it still has the modern touch: brand new fridge, dishwasher, oven, and microwave. A big screen tv can be found on the ground level in a large seating area with a recliner and a couch, which is heated by a gas fire and/or a space heater. The water pressure can be a little lacking sometimes but you can adjust the heating and that brings the pressure back up. Not sure how the house performs in the warmer days but it is very comfortable in the cold. The fire pit is a bit a ways away from the house but there’s plenty of firewood available and Bill makes sure to stay well stocked!Conveniently located near Charlottesville but well away from the hustle and bustle. If you are looking for peace and rest this would be a perfect spot.

Stayed Nov 22, 2025From the very second you enter this property you are made to feel welcomed and appreciated. Whether it is from Cynthia, Bill or the incredible Pyrenees Zoe. Taking time out of their day to ensure you have the most amazing time is always done with a smile and a great chat. The house is phenomenal, from the history to the comfort it was absolutely 5 stars. Greeting and feeding the animals most days, spending the afternoons in the covered patio and the evenings downstairs by the fire made this an extremely relaxing and memorable vacation. A short drive to everywhere, we spent time at the historic downtown mall, visited Monticello, and frequented the many wineries surrounding the property, before coming “home” to a warm welcome and incredible vistas. I also highly recommend utilizing Darby Farms for the catering, the food was amazing as was the service. Thankyou, Bill and Cynthia for an incredible home away from home Vacation!!

Stayed Aug 29, 2025This was an amazing stay for us with kids, parents & grandparents. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were really good, and the house was spotless. We especially enjoyed the huge screen porch and all the rocking chairs. There were lots of activities for young (& old) kids: feeding the chickens and goats, gathering fresh eggs, meeting Zoe the dog and fishing. The best part was meeting Bill & Cynthia who were so generous in sharing their beautiful, peaceful and productive farm with us. They were so accommodating and welcoming & even responded to a message in the middle of the night telling us where the closest pharmacy was when someone in the house got sick. We loved learning the history of the log house and only regret that we were too busy with the kids to peruse the fabulous book collection. We all hope to return soon!

Stayed Jun 30, 2025The house and farm are just beautiful. We spent nearly the entire stay on the screened porch listening to the birds, watching the horses, goats, and chickens and enjoying the quiet serenity of the country. Our hosts could not have been more gracious and welcoming. We wondered around the property and soaked up the country, ate some amazing farm raised eggs, and made several excursions to nearby Monticello, antique shops, UVA, and 1799 at the Clifton for dinner. I highly recommended this beautiful place for anyone staying in the Charlottesville area.

Stayed Apr 19, 2025This week could not have been more satisfying. We were looking for a wonderful place to spend much-needed time together as a family, and that is exactly what we got.The house is lovely, and so neat and clean - full of gorgeous antiques and comfortable places to curl up. But the majority of our time was spent on the screened-in porch, soaking in the soft air and watching the horses, cows, chickens, baby goats(!) and one ridiculously adorable donkey meander through the pastures all around us.Our hosts were so kind, friendly, and knowledgeable about the area, always ready to assist at any moment with our needs. We would come back here in a heartbeat. Incredible week, incredible property.

Stayed Dec 23, 2024This is a very unique property definitely worth staying in to get away from the city, or in particular, to experience living in a farm house from 200 years ago, albeit one that has all the modern conveniences everyone takes for granted. All of us (4 adults) found the home extremely interesting. Just finding houses built from 10-inch square hand-cut and hewed wood beams to visit is not that easy - finding one to stay in is a real treat. We selected this property due to its location close to relatives we were visiting, not because it was an old farm house, so the home's age aspect of the stay was a bonus. All of the members of all party commented that they felt like they were staying in a museum. The house was very clean and in excellent repair (so, no worries about staying in an old house) and the hosts were most informative, friendly and quickly answered all our questions.

Stayed Dec 5, 2024We had a total of 8 adults stay at this site, to celebrate parent's anniversary, as well as family wedding in the area. What a wonderful location and home!!! The owners are great, love their home and love sharing it with others. We had a relaxing time with adult children, with plenty of space for private conversations as well as for all of us together in the same room. The home is well stocked, including coffee and eggs: the furnishings are beautiful, plus decorated for Christmas, and very clean. We were all pleasantly surprised and thrilled with the quality of this home: it is the best we have experienced in a rental home.

Stayed Aug 2, 2024We had a great family visit at Quarters Farm. Bill and Cynthia were excellent hosts. They let the children feed the chickens and goats and help collect eggs. We loved the historic house and walking the loop around by the lake. It was a great base for visiting Monticello, UVA, and local orchards and restaurants. But we also really enjoyed just staying at the house and sitting on the screen porch and watching the cows graze and the goats cross the field. Bill and Cynthia, thank you again for your hospitality!
