Stayed Jun 3, 2022It was a great place to stay! It was clean, and spacious. It does only have 1 television, so if you like to have one in the bedroom or have kids you want to entertain with television as well as yourself then you arent able to. Overall it was a great place to stay and the host was amazing!

Stayed Jun 11, 2026The property was beautiful! The trails were great and the clearing with the outdoor kitchen was really cool. My 8yr old loved playing in the creek and catching lightening bugs! The host was great and responded promptly to a couple questions we had. The house was clean and well stocked. The only minor downside was hearing traffic. Not enough to impact our stay and would absolutely stay here again. One of the bad reviews I read was about a smell in the house. It’s an old farmhouse but it is in good repair and very clean. The smell mentioned is just the smell of an old country home (like my Grandma’s) not something wrong with the place. I highly recommend!!

Stayed Jun 4, 2026The house is clearly decorated with lots of an intentional style. We loved the unusual or vintage pieces. The kitchen is large, well stocked, and immaculate. Master bedroom opens unto a large back porch that covers 3 sides of the house. Gates are up to help slow down little ones. We appreciated this with my 2 year old great grandsons! The master bath can only be classified as “ bougie”. It is big and lovely with jewel tone floors. There are 2 trails on property that is nicely secluded and close to the highway. We really made memories during our stay, 4 generations together.

Stayed Apr 24, 2026We enjoyed our stay at Shasta Valley. It has a nice large kitchen that is well stocked for cooking your own meals. The bed we slept in was comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the large porches, it was very peaceful and quiet. The owner was very responsive. Great wifi, no issues there. We would stay here again. We were surprised by the pet fee as that was not in the listing.

Stayed Apr 15, 2026Everything was immaculate and our stay was so peaceful and relaxing. If you want peace and quiet, this is the place to go. There is so much room and the property is very well-cared for. We very much enjoyed taking a walk around the property. There is an incline on the way to the waterfall area, which isn't extreme, but will be easier to navigate with some traction on your shoes. If you do, you are rewarded with a truly beautiful and tranquil space to sit and listen to the water. I really didn't want to leave! The tub in the master bath is gigantic and excellent for relaxing with a good book! The kitchen is also very well stocked as well. You have your pick of places to sleep, and the beds are cozy. Our host was so kind and helpful as well, which definitely made the stay feel even more relaxing. I would absolutely love to come back to Shasta Valley again! Highly, highly recommend! :)

Stayed Nov 2, 2025Fun, quirky little place, perfect for our family of 5! Kitchen has everything you need for meals. My kids enjoyed the games, Alexa and watercolor paints. Outside is amazing- you have to hike up the trail to get to the “outside kitchen”- but it’s a beautiful little hike. We could hear the waterfall from our bedroom!

Stayed Oct 5, 2025Good clean house and the owner was very very accommodating. The property itself allows time to just stay at the house and explore/rest. This is a great place to disconnect from technology (even though the owner provides great WiFi) and to just rest. Just a short drive away there is the red river gorge area. This is a huge park to explore with some easier hikes to some more difficult ones, plus some neat restaurants and gift shops. I’d love to get back to this property at some point.

Stayed Jul 6, 2025Our stay at Shasta Valley was a mixed bag, but it had its charms. The house itself is an older gem, full of character with hardwood floors and vintage decor that gives it a cozy, lived-in feel. However, it’s clear the place hasn’t been maintained as well as it could be. It’s not uninhabitable by any means, but if you’re expecting modern polish, this isn’t it.Where this rental shines is the property itself. Tucked away in a lush, rainforest-like setting, the surrounding woods are breathtaking. Towering trees, thick ferns, and a chorus of birds made it feel like stepping into a nature documentary-perfect for unwinding. There’s a small creek nearby that’s great for a peaceful walk, though the path could use some clearing to avoid tripping over roots. The porch and lawns were our favorite spots to sip coffee and soak in the greenery. Drinks outside at dusk watching fireflies late into the evening was magical. Also appreciated the smart tv which made it easy to access our streaming accounts and watch our usual shows at night. The host was responsive and friendly and the house is easy to navigate as far as instructions and amenities. It’s not a luxury stay, but if you’re after a rustic escape and don’t mind a few imperfections, Shasta Valley’s wild, serene setting makes it worth considering. Just bring some patience for the house itself.

Stayed Jun 13, 2025We had a great time. It fit our large family perfectly. The only down side was that the grass was very long and made the trails hard to navigate. Other then that no complaints. We will be back!!

Stayed May 23, 2025Our family took a weekend get away to Red River Gorge for a few days. This mini-farm had so many super cool details, they amazed me! You are nestled in the middle of woods, a creek, waterfalls, a rustic barn that has obviously been updated and decorated...a small camper that was cool (not sure I'd ever stay inside of it, but it was cool) and more. The inside was just as thought through. It's quite clear that this was a flipped property, but the decorating and added charm was immediatly apparent. The owners were a dream to work with and we communicated through our stay about different things very positivly. If ever in the area again, we will ABSOLUTLY stay here. We hiked around RRG but also hiked the property. I'm positive the owners take pride in even the trails around...there were cute little signs and fun things hung up...it was just so fun! We did run into campers at the top of the property that I guess I didn't read about in the listing...not to say the owners didn't have it...I think I just didn't read into it. There are strict rules for those who are camping on top of the property and they are not allowed to come past the barn; and, we even ran into some of them on the trails, but we had NO issue whatsoever. I'm only mentioning that we didn't realize others were on the property. If you are planning on cooking meals (which we did) they had everything you need and more. They have 2 kinds of coffee pots..filter and Keurig:-). Great stay!
