Stayed Dec 31, 1969We stayed at Croft Road 51 for a week, enjoying both the cosy house as Hastings Old Town. The house was in perfect order and had everything you need for a good vacation, even when the weather conditions are not all to optimal. One small minus: the bedrooms are upstairs, the toilet and running water are downstairs. Within 10 minutes walking distance you will find pubs, curiosityshops, a bakery, small supermarkets, alleys, the beach and the top of West Hill (where we walked the dog and parked the car) and East Hill (where you can walk for hours). Hastings new towncenter is also only 10 minutus walking distance from Croft Road.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The house was just as it was pictured in the HomeAway ad: charming and warm. It’s on a quiet street with friendly, helpful neighbors. The bedrooms are large and cheerful. The beds are comfortable. We especially liked having romantic meals in the cozy kitchen. The old town of Hastings has a lot to offer tourists: many great restaurants, interesting pubs, quaint shops, and historical buildings. The medieval towns of Battle and Rye are just a few minutes away by car or train. Judges Bakery, which is just down the street, has the best croissant we’ve ever had. There’s also a long promenade along the beach which is just a 5-minute walk from the house. There’s free (unsecured) wi-fi at the Jenny Lind Pub about a hundred yards away. The signal also reaches the café and launderette across the street from the pub. Secure access is available for purchase on line by credit card at the house which is in a BT (British Telephone) hot spot. We especially appreciated the prompt and helpful responses of Karin, the landlady. For example, she asked to have the deposit and rent wire transferred to her account which is commonly done and not expensive in Europe but which is very expensive for us in the States. When I asked if she could set up a PayPal account for us instead, she did so right away. Likewise, when there was a problem with British Gas, she dealt with it promptly. In general, we had a very pleasant stay and hope to be able to return again someday.
