This is a charming duplex apartment located in the heart of Mt. Pleasant with a newly renovated kitchen. It has a cozy cottage feel with an outdoor shower and private fenced in back yard. Bike and walk most anywhere; 2 beach cruiser bikes provided! Less than a mile from Shem Creek, 3.5 miles from Sullivan's Island Beach and 6 miles from Downtown Charleston.

This is one side of a duplex in a quiet, established neighborhood located in the heart of Mt. Pleasant. It is not on a through street, which means that is has little traffic. The street loops around to Shem Creek less than a block away, which makes for a short, walk.
The duplex was built in 1960. It is made out of brick and has a classic, simple feel to it, but is by no means perfect. There is a large patio in the back yard with table and chairs, along with a fire pit, and a fully enclosed, outdoor shower. It has its own private fenced in back yard that is large.
There are two bedrooms, each has two windows for plenty of sunlight. One bedroom has tile floors, and a queen bed. The other has wood floors, bunk beds, and a full-size bed. There are two sofas in the living area that encompass a wall mounted TV. The bathroom has solid marble tile floors and bead board siding. It has a newly renovated kitchen outfitted with the essentials; stove, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, plates, cups, utensils, coffee maker, pots & pans, toaster and blender. Washer, Dryer, Iron, Ironing Board, and Blow Dryer provided. Two beach cruiser bikes, beach chairs and a small cooler are also available for use.
The other side of the duplex is a vacation rental as well. Each has its own front door PRIVATE entrance with a screened-in porch. They also both have their own PRIVATE, fenced in back yard, with back door entry.

Our home is conveniently located less than a mile from Shem Creek. We could write a small book on all that Shem Creek and the local area has to offer. We have two boys, a Giant Schnauzer, and we love going out to eat and sampling some of the world class restaurants the Charleston area has to offer. We love sharing what we have discovered, just ask! We moved here years ago and still feel like we are on vacation. Our favorite way to explore the area is on bikes, so we wanted to share that with our guests. Sullivan's island and downtown Charleston are both roughly 6 miles in opposite directions on the same road with bike paths the whole way to each. Depending on how adventurous you are, you can head out the front door and be on the beach, or enjoying all that downtown Charleston has to offer without ever getting in your car. There are also water taxis downtown from Patriots Point if you do not want to ride the bridge. Again, just ask, we have information on all of that.
Within an 8 minute walk out the front door there is a Starbucks and a host of great places to eat, shop, or grab a drink.

    My family truly enjoyed this location, the property is located in a quite neighborhood with nearby stores and restaurants. Because it was so hot outside we spent a lot time at the property playing games, reading and relaxing in the shady backyard. The host of the property put a lot of thought in the smallest of details which made us really enjoy the stay.

    The host was fabulous, with quick responses to any questions I had. The bungalow itself was cozy and welcoming. The hostess added lots of little touches,—pop up laundry baskets in the bedrooms, delightful soaps, nightlights, an electric kettle for hot beverages, lights and heat on for arrival, live plants, and to top it off, locally roasted coffee, wine, and an amazing chocolate cake! The neighborhood was quiet, and the location very convenient. I will definitely be looking for this little place the next time I am in town visiting family.

    Loved the welcoming chocolate cake and wine, we don't drink but appreciated the gesture; mattresses were fabulous. Appreciated the cleanliness of the bathroom, kitchen and the entire place. Cook top for stove was great and easy to cook with. Sunny bedrooms, what a joy to have all that light. Rebecca was so responsive, one of us became very ill and she offered to drop off a heating pad! We had to leave our home due to a cleanup process and while this was not a holiday for us it was great to find such a gem locally, with such a compassionate wonderful inn-keeper, Rebecca.

    This was a lovely house in a great location for visiting Charleston and the beaches. It had everything you need for your stay. The owners were very responsive and accommodating. The chocolate cake waiting for us was an extra bonus and delicious! Lots of great restaurants close by. Our doggy enjoyed the fenced back yard!Jeff & Donna

    The house is cute. The outside shower is a huge plus. The fire pit is nice as well. Location is a huge bonus as you are 15 mins from the beach and 15 mins away from Charleston. They left us a super cute cake for when we got there too! The only downside was there are quite a few bugs, particularly roaches on the outside which got inside eventually. But that’s just Charleston from what we were told. Overall, a great stay.

    This was a perfect little cottage for our weekend getaway. We were celebrating my husband’s 65th birthday and our host provided us with an amazing chocolate birthday cake!     We traveled to the Charleston area with our dogs for a long weekend. The Coastal Cottage was the perfect weekend accommodation. The owners were wonderful to work with and the description is accurate. They welcomed us with a delicious chocolate cake, bottle of wine and fresh ground coffee. We also utilized the grocery delivery they note in the description. Our groceries were waiting when we arrived. We loved the large fenced in back yard for our dogs and the fire pit was an added plus. The house is perfectly located with quick access to the beach and downtown Charleston. Many dog friendly restaurants within walking distance. Safe and friendly area all around. We will definitely stay again. Great experience!

    Could not ask for a better location, landlords and setup presented for a small family with dogs! Great cozy location just off the main road, with ease of access to some of the most popular beaches in the area with a 10-15 minute drive and local eateries within a short bike ride. Brad & Rebecca were/are top notch! Extremely responsive, respectable and communicating very well up to and throughout entire stay. Went down for a baseball tournament at Shipyard and could not have asked for a better stay at this property. Looking forward to staying again, next time we’re in the Charleston area!
