Step into the light-filled living room where you can watch TV, read or snuggle. Next is the formal dining room at the heart of the house that leads into the kitchen equipped for breakfast bar snacking or preparing a full, sit-down feast ( groceries are two to ten minutes away on foot). The bedrooms are off the hall from the dining room and separated by the bathroom. Both bedrooms are queens. upstairs is another queen appointed bedroom with an en suite bath. There is also a dormer office space for checking in with work, studying, reading or relaxing away from the open living of the main floor. The entire place is comfortably elegant and tranquil to take in couched in a very lively part of Portland boasting some of the best eating and strolling districts. I love to meander the neighborhood in spring and summer to see what's coming up in peoples gardens and just look at the houses let alone all the shops and people. Fall and winter get wetter but are no less interesting. Laurelhurst Park is close by and excellent for picnics, jogs and watching ducks in the large pond. There's a lot down any spoke leading from the front porch of this home whether on foot, pedaling, by all the buses going every which way or car. There is a shared laundry space for guests and the townhouse tenant at the rear of property to use. Both homes have separate entrances and separate access points to laundry. Guests staying in the main house have 24 hour secure access four days a week through kitchen door to basement. Tenants do laundry during daylight hours three day availability per week. The couple living in the town home are incredibly kind should you ever have the chance to meet.

Marc’s house was perfect! It was super cozy and comfortable, was in a great location and had a fabulous owner. My husband and I were there for a month and it felt like home. We couldn’t have imagined a better experience. Thank you Marc! We will definitely be back! Barb and Dan

We absolutely loved our stay at Marc’s house not only because the interior design is close to what we are used to at our home. The level of attention to the details is unique, the house is nicely decorated and fully equipped including the kitchen for those who love cooking. Location wise the house is in a nice area of Portland - some might not find it good enough, but we actually loved it. There are bars, restaurants and even a Powell outlet (book store). Marc is a fantastic host, taking great care of his guests throughout the stay.

We loved this house. It had everything we needed to feel comfortable for an extended stay. It is exactly as pictured. Really enjoyed the fact that there aren't TV's in every room. We endured the smoke and Covid while staying here and with the central AC were very comfortable. Hawthorne is a really fun district with lots to do when not in quarantine, and even during quarantine we found great dining. Malka is a must try and Harlow was also fantastic. The noise is minimal at this house, even with the Fred Meyer caddy corner to the home. The big downfall is the amount of homeless people in the area. Make sure to lock your doors and remove valuables as both of our cars were ransacked. After three instances in 2 cars, we just didn't feel 100% secure. Certainly not the owners fault, but it impacted our stay.

Marc is a super host. He had many goodies waiting for us upon arrival, including fresh flowers. He was very friendly, very helpful . The kitchen was fully supplied with more than enough items one would need for cooking and serving. House location in walking distance to library, Baghdad movie theater , grocery stores , restaurants, Powell’s bookstore and many shops . I would definitely stay there again.

A small group of resident physicians and I had a wonderful time living in Portland for a month. We were attending a course at OHSU and found the location of this rental to be perfect. We rode our bikes to the university each day (20mins bike ride 10 min tram ride), spent our afternoons checking out Hawthorne street vintage shops, and spent our weekends venturing to the coast, wine country or to Mount Hood. We couldn't have picked a more central location to explore all that Portland has to offer. The house is perfectly laid out for a group of adults to share. The main floor has a large open concept living room, dinning room and kitchen as well as two bedrooms and a bathroom. We found the kitchen well equipped with everything you would need to cook dinner each night. The house also has AC which was paramount as we experienced a week long heat wave. Our host Marc made the the check in and check out process seamless. He answered our questions promptly and recommended some great local restaurants. We all wish we could have extended our stay indefinitely. Thanks for creating such a wonderful space we hope to return soon!

This house was perfect for our stay in Portland over the holidays. The open fully stocked kitchen was fun to cook in and the openness of the house allowed us to have the whole family over in comfort and style. The house is in a great location so close to both Hawthorn and Belmont. It is nice to have a grocery right across the street. Marc is fantastic to work with and the house has everything that you ever need. I hope I get the chance to stay again in the future.

My husband and I just spent a few months in this charming flat and could not have had a better home away from home. Mark has thought of everything you could possibly need during your Portland stay and then generously provided it – including beautiful furnishings, comfortable beds, a fully equipped kitchen, a well-stocked bath, and books and pamphlets about the area. The flat is situated in a beautifully landscaped residential neighborhood but conveniently located within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops, grocery stores, a movie theater, and magnificent Laurelhurst Park. Finally, Mark is a very accommodating and responsive host. We look forward to returning to this flat during our next stay in Portland!

Marc's home makes you feel as though you've lived here for a long time. The photos on the VRBO listing match what you see when you walk in. The home has plenty of room to prepare meals and eat at the long dining room table. He has supplied just about everything you could need to create them. Pots and pans in multiples, spices, oils, napkins, candles, hundreds of dishes and silverware, even TWO Bic candle lighters. He has thought of everything. The bathroom separates the two bedrooms, allowing for quiet. It has a large hot shower, with shampoo and conditioner in case you forgot some. The stairs to the upstairs rooms are near the front bedroom but only occasionally did I hear the other guests coming. The bed was comfortable, and felt relatively new. The porch and small enclosed patio area are meant for a cup of coffee, glass of wine or even an outdoor meal. Marc has maintained the home very well. Very very clean. I met a few neighbors as they were working in their yards on my walk to my daughters home. Great restaurants nearby. Try the French food cart at Growlers. Get a bowl of French onion soup and a salad, bring it home. Then return the bowl the next day. Try a beer from the vendor selling over 50 beers. Or a smoked turkey leg. Chaing Mai for excellent Thai food. Chez Machin for soup and crepes. McMenamins @ the Bagdad Theatre for burgers. These are all within a two block radius--except Chaing Mai. Fred Meyers is across the street. The parking lot has many trees, plus the trees at the house block the view. Never felt its presence. Not having a car, I used the buses and Uber. Easy payment set up with your phone for both. Rain prevented some plans, so we went to Powells on Hawthorne, Noun on Belmont. Or walked in it. Since my daughter has moved to Portland, I have stayed at 5 different VRBO locations. By far this home is number One. I would recommend this rental to friends and family. Marc left a few notes on the trash, the keyless entry way and the laundry. You won't need further instructions, as all has been taken care of. He provided his local number should you need it, which I didn't. Oh he has an eclectic collection of artwork, which adds to the comfort. The front bedroom has an entire wall covered in reproductions of The Blue Boy, 1770, Dutch. (had to look it up) Yet I didn't notice them initially, as the door to the hallway opens in to partially cover it. Fun diversion.

Marc has thought of everything. The house is so well-equipped. Nothing is missing. Very comfortable, welcoming, tasteful. This was our second visit, and it feels like our Portland home away from home. We'll be back!

The location is excellent, a micro-walk to Portlandia culture/shopping at its best on Hawthorne street. Also plenty of dining and drinking establishments just a stones throw away. This home was so cozy, gorgeous, fashionably decorated, carefully stocked, and cleaned, we didn't want to leave it. The fireplace was heaven itself during our rainy chilly stay.
