Cayman Brac, Cayman Islands
The first thing that everyone notices as they walk in the front door is the really large open space, with an amazing side to side full view of the ocean, blue skies, clouds and dive boats bobbing.
You will be enjoying the whole property to yourself, including the 32’ fiberglass pool.
The large south-side deck at the front of the house that is shaded by the flowering trees canopy and has table with the umbrella and chairs, perfect spot to have breakfast and watch the birds and butterflies that flock to flowers surrounding the deck. The grill for making BBQ is conveniently located on the deck as well.
The north side of the house has the full screened-in porch that runs the length of the house. Outdoor dining table, Adirondack chairs and the hammock make the porch a perfect extension of the house and you will be enjoying staying there through the evening without worrying about bugs. In the summer months we love to watch the 'lightning show' from the thunderstorms over Cuba (~80 miles north).
The master bedroom is large, large enough that the king size bed looks oddly small in it, French doors open out to the porch area so the tropical breezes blow through in the evening. Off the bedroom is a large marble bathroom, with "his" and "her" sinks, a rain shower and three bay windows looking out, yet again, over the sea in front. The master bedroom has the split AC unit.
On the other side of the house are two more bedrooms. The “Ocean Room” has a queen bed. The “Garden Room” has a full bed and a twin. Both rooms have ceiling fans and window AC units, share a bathroom.
In between the two sets of bedrooms is a really large living space that combines an open kitchen, dining and living room. Oversized fan, Smart TV with access to Netflix, dining area for eight, with a massive sectional couch right in the middle for enjoying movies or the view across the water. The sectional couch can be opened into a queen size bed. The main area of the house has central AC.
Outside… is the rinse-tank area. On the right hand side of the house is the kayak, with paddles underneath. On the beach in front is a picnic table for dining while catching the last rays of the day. Plus a couple chairs so as to get the maximum possible beauty from the sun setting over Little Cayman, off in the distance, the last plane of the day coming in in slow motion, silhouetted against the clouds – our favorite place to watch the sun set.
The airport is a 10-15 minute walk from the house, the super market 20 minutes.
The absolute best snorkeling on the island (we've tried 'em all) is the “Fish Bowl” directly off the beach from the house – schools of chub, grunts, snappers, turtles passing through, scorpionfish, filefish, trumpetfish and just to the side is a resident school of squid (no promises!) and if you’re patient and lucky, there’s an octopus hanging out too. Strap on some gear and stroll on in.
In the “Activity Closet” are the vests for the kayak, several sets of snorkel gear, board games, plus some picnic blankets. In the kitchen pantry are the "basics" like flour, sugar, rice, beans, plus coolers and such. We love to cook, and the kitchen itself has everything you may need to make a perfect meal on a 5 burner stove, or bake a cake.
When things get dirty use the dishwasher and large washer and dryer. Or even better - the clothesline on the side of the house. AC throughout.
We really loved copper turtle. It was on a quiet road on the north side. Had fabulous sunsets every day! Pool was nice to have as well as the screened in porch and hammock inside and outside. The house had everything we could need, the kitchen was well stocked with amenities. The ptopertyl manager was awesome we had a couple small things that needed attention and he was very responsive. Would recommend this place for sure
We’ve been coming to the island for several years and this is the best accommodation yet. The house, pool and location just beautiful. We actually spent 75% of our time at the house. We would snorkel in the morning at various spots the return to house. And just enjoy the pool and beautiful surroundings. So miss having my morning coffee on the screened back porch watching the dive boats and then every evening watching another beautiful sunset. It was our best trip to the island.
We’ve been coming to the Brac for 20 years as we have friends that are home owners. This year we had 18 friends coming in for a 20 year wedding anniversary so we needed a rental. Copper Turtle was Wonderful. The bedrooms are spacious with air condition if needed. The family room is large and opened to a huge screened in sunroom. We had massages done one day out there. The kitchen is stocked with everything you will need. We did buy extra things to leave it well stocked for the next guest. The pool area is great even though we didn’t use it much because we were diving and out at night. There are several dive sights in the backyard that you can kick out to. I have been in many of the Brac homes and this one far is one of the nicest and North side is definitely the area to be. Close to the airport, market and dive sites. We would definitely rent here again. Kim
The owners made it very simple to rent The Copper Turtle.
lovely home, great diving and excellent weather. cannot ask for anything more.
I have stayed all over the Caribbean and this house was the finest house I have ever stayed at . The little things is what make this house great. Completely stocked with ever possible thing you can think of which you may need was available at this house. I would recommend it to anyone!
Stayed at many properties in the states and over seas and this one is by far and large the best we have ever stayed at. It was perfect for us in every way. I have never been in a rental that was so well stocked with everything we might need. Right on the ocean, clean, quite, just perfect. Sandra was a dream. We love the Brac. We would love to stay there again.
The location of the Copper Turtle was perfect. Minutes from the airport, market, and restaurants. Most importantly it was very close to some great snorkel and dive spots! Although we did not snorkel in the ocean in front of the property because it was far too rocky with lots of urchins and waves, we enjoyed exploring the beach and the views of the ocean and dive boats. The pool was perfect and made the entire experience that much better. The house was stocked full with necessities and we only had to worry about our groceries. Plenty of towels, condiments, and toiletry products made our stay easy. The market right up the street had all our favorite foods and Barry's Golden Jerk Shack was AWESOME! Best meal we had in the Brac. We enjoyed exploring the caves on the island and the many hikes, all a very short drive away. Every night we sat out on the screened in porch and watched the lightning storms across the ocean, it was amazing and better than watching television any night. The outside property was beautiful with tons of flowers, plants, adorable baby pineapple, and was well kept. It was the most relaxing vacation and we cannot wait to go back and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!
We stayed at The Copper Turtle for 5 nights in June 2019. The house is very close to the airport and town (~5 minute drive away). There are several houses in that stretch but still felt very private. It has a salt water pool, very clean and great for hang out. The backyard also has lounge chairs, a grill, and it opens up to the shore. The beach is rocky, so is every beach at Cayman Brac. We snorkeled out there by our house (be sure to bring some good water shoes), and it's a good spot for it. There are some other good spots nearby. The house book has all the info you need on snorkeling spots, restaurant recommendations, etc. Also, the fully screened porch in the back facing the pool and the beach is great, and it's a great spot for sunset. The house has 3 rooms and 2 full bathrooms. The descriptions and pictures are quite accurate from the post. The master bedroom & bathroom are huge; the bathroom has a great view of the shore/beach, and the rain shower is awesome! Water supply has very good pressure, one of the best we have experienced among all the places we've rented in the Caribbean (perhaps it's because it's city water). We drank from the tap with no issues. The house has a lot of space, and the garden up front is kept very well. Wifi worked great! It also has Netflix to keep us entertain at night. A big plus if you are a SCUBA divers, and we were able to wash/rinse our gear with a tank of water and hanging area outside northeast of the house. That set up is wonderful! On the other side (southwest) has lines that we can hang wet clothes with, and yes, there's washer and dryer in the house. Overall, we are very happy with the house, and the manager Sandra is very friendly and helpful. Natalia, the owner, is fantastic, very quick to respond to our questions and booking is easy. Simply a great experience throughout!
We stayed at Copper Turtle for a week and it was by far the best vacation we have ever had! Natalia was so wonderful to deal with, open to our questions and gave some great ideas about things to know/do on Brac. The Copper Turtle exceeded our expectations. The location was perfect in terms of proximity to conveniences (groceries, liquor, airport) but had a feeling of complete seclusion. The home is absolutely beautiful and had enough basic amenities that we felt like we were at home instead of feeling like we were living in someone else’s home. The pool was clean and warm and the grounds were really well looked after. Sandra, the property manager, was so great. She was pleasant, happy and even cooked us a traditional Jamaican meal. We couldn’t have asked for a better vacation for us and our 3 young kids. It really was perfect! Thanks for having us and we hope to be back again!!
