This unique historic home was originally a dependency to the grand Coor-Bishop House located a half block away, where President James Monroe stayed in 1819 while touring the South.

The home contains two large bedrooms with vaulted ceilings and new King beds with new mattresses. One King bed can be converted to two Twin XLs upon request. The house
is newly updated with fresh paint, new furniture, luxury linens and amenities and a new gas range in the well-appointed kitchen.

Walk to the riverfront, Tryon Palace and historic downtown and its many restaurants, bars, shops, and galleries. Relax on the screen porch. Cruise or kayak the Neuse and Trent Rivers. Take a short 45-minute drive to Beaufort, Oriental, and the beautiful Crystal Coast beaches.

Sorry, but no children under 8 years of age. Infants are welcome but we do not provide cribs or playards.

PLEASE NOTE: The home is situated on a raised basement with 12 steps from the street level to the front door. All bedrooms are on the second floor.

We booked this stay for our elderly parents, while the stairs were a challenge, they were manageable. Spacious bedrooms and cozy common areas in this 1810 guest cottage. Hosts were readily available and prompt to respond to requests. At our parents request, we would definitely book again next time they visit.

This spacious, historic, and immaculately maintained home surpassed our expectations. We strolled just 3 blocks to Easter services, downtown shops, and resturants, and prepared wonderful meals in the fully-equipped kitchen. We had great fun with our relatives children in our lovely brick patio/courtyard, and at the waterfront, green park, and marina just 1/2 block away. Can't wait to return!

We were delighted with the town, which was charming, quaint and just the right size for a truly enjoyable experience. It reminded me of my years in Boston and New England. The house was perfectly located in the historic center, very close to the waterfront. It was an easy walk to restaurants, shops and everything the town of New Bern has to offer. Our host was very gracious and helpful and recommended the best restaurants (we enjoyed the two he recommended very much). ! I have family in the area and would definitely stay in the lovely and adorable little cottage again. It was comfortable and provided everything we needed and more. Our stay was June 28 to 30, 2024

The house is the perfect walkable distance to the downtown New Bern area. The beds are very comfortable - firm but not too stiff (mattress comments are always what I check for in reviews). I had the BEST mornings on the screened in porch, drinking coffee and watching the beautiful bird and butterfly gardens. So peaceful! You won’t regret booking this for your next trip to New Bern! But bring an eye mask if you like to sleep late. Beautiful high windows in this historic house let in all the morning light ?
