Stayed May 20, 2024My family toured Charleston for 2 days on our way up the East Coast. This house was in a great location to see all the attractions we planned. We had a carriage ride in downtown Charleston, the Aquarium, a sail boat cruise of Charleston Harbor, plantation tour of Boone Hall and sunset at Shem Creek boardwalk. We had a great visit and comfortable stay.

Stayed Jul 1, 2023Good location. Communication thru VRBO app was tedious.

Stayed May 14, 2023Overall, very nice. Master shower drain needs to be fixed, super slow drain causing pooling in shower. Had to repair couch feet, couple came loose. Great location.

Stayed Apr 30, 2023The location was very good for access to Charleston, and in close proximity to a grocery store, but there were things lacking to keep us from highly recommending this property. Specifically: (1) There was no notebook/welcome package anywhere to explain nuances of the property. This was a first for us, as any other VRBO we've stayed at has had at least basic guidance, e.g., how to use the television, and internet network name and password. (2) There were several items in the property either broken or in the process of renovation--the fence surrounding the back patio had obviously been damaged and one of the gates was hanging on by only one screw; the handle of the microwave was missing; there were huge areas of plaster or spackling on the wall of the master bath where either a recent change had been made, or some damage had been patched. (3) Most concerning was the backing up of the master bedroom shower drain--maybe that's why there was a plunger available(?). The first use of the shower left inches of water standing in the stall. After plunging the drain, the water eventually ran down, but for future showers it never completely functioned as it should have. (4) As fairly seasoned VRBOers, it was astounding to us that personal belongings were left so exposed for us to work around. There was beer and food in the refrigerator and freezer; the dresser in the master was completely covered in jewelry, hair accessories, etc.; there were boxes stacked in the corner of the dining room; the top of the bar in the living room had both alcohol and cigars in plain view. All this when we had received an email prior to our visit asking us to Keep in mind we actually live here! Any other place we've stayed has had at least one closet or cabinet that is locked and clearly labeled owner's property, and spaces one expects to utilize are void of belongings. That is much preferable to having to avoid personal effects left in one's path. (5) The owners cannot be held liable for the power outage that occurred the second night; however, the handling of it was not great. When the power returned and an alarm in the living room closet went off, we tried to call and had to leave a voicemail. Some minutes later, we received a message with guidance from Ellen advising us her husband was asleep but she had seen the voicemail prompt on his phone. Overall, this is a lovely property in a good location, but not ideally managed as a VRBO costing $200+/night.
