What a find! This historic home with outstanding art and carefully landscaped gardens could not have been more perfect for us - in every category!! We've travelled extensively and found this home to likely the best home we have found for our various travels. Our consecutive days of day trips from ROCKPORT were wonderful. Robert was both gracious and helpful any time we reached out to him. Our trip to MAINE included tasty local lobster dinners, beautiful botanical gardens, opera house concerts and tastefully small museums. From grand hikes in MONHEGAN Island and Acadia Nat'l Park to the quaint Vespers Hill Children's Chapel and Farnsworth Art Museum. We could not have asked for a more adventurous U.S. trip and were grateful for all our adventures from this great location as well as coming home after an exhaustingly packed day!!

Having stayed at dozens of rented homes around the world, we have an understanding of what makes a truly exceptional stay...and our recent visit to 10 Pleasant Street truly hits every marker. Our stay there was a delight! From the ideal location (near town but blissfully quiet with a neighborly feel) to the sense we got of having just walked into a friend's home, this is close to the ideal vacation rental for adults. In fact, the owners do stay there between rentals, so it really is equipped for full-time use.I specified adults for a good reason: This home is not really suitable for young children. It is filled with family treasures, especially several pieces of hand-decorated antique furniture that were exquisitely painted by the owners' mother over the years. These pieces are in perfect condition, and we made sure they stayed in their pristine state while we were in residence. When our young grandson visited, we watched him carefully & encouraged him to play in the lovely yard...which he happily did! And FYI, the staircase to the second floor has very narrow steps, but it is equipped with useful handholds. The kitchen is amazing. Fully equipped is a term that's thrown around loosely by rental agents. In this case, it's accurate. The only thing we missed was a coffee grinder, which Robert provided from Amazon right after we arrived. You can rent with confidence: We hope to return next summer!
