Unique home with Portland charm.
First, this is not two houses or the larger house in the photos. This is a garage that has been modified into a rental. Second, the driveway is RIDICULOUSLY STEEP and not shown accurately in the listing. If it is wet or slippery, you are likely not making it up the first half of the drive. The people renting the big house next door had to park on the street and carry bags up the 2 flights of outdoor stairs just to get inside. We were lucky enough to get halfway up and only have to hike the other half. The first floor is 2 rooms that were the former garage bays. The one room is huge and the other (with the bunks) is well sized. They're nice enough rooms, but the outlets are sparse (few work) and the garage openers and doors didn't add to anything. The second floor is the living room, kitchen, half bath and bedroom (the one with all the empty shelves). Hopefully whoever is sleeping in there can sleep through all the kitchen noises. The bed is two twin beds next to each other, so there's a lump between the mattresses. The third floor is another large bedroom and bathroom with the ONLY shower (no tub). The hot tub took 2 days to heat up and never got more than warm. All in all, it was a nice place for the price for 3 couples to have their own rooms, but the trade off is that you'll all have to have really good knees to get up that driveway and up and down all the stairs to go to the bathroom or shower.
Wouldn't stay again, was not worth price
We loved our stay. Plenty of room and very relaxing. The beds were comfortable. The bunk beds were small but still good. The hot tub was hot and ready for us to arrive. We got really good at managing the driveway! We had fun.
Up in the Portland hills. Green and lush. Steep driveway which we knew from reading reviews, wasn't a big deal for us. Some confusion with the neighbors (also a vacation rental) on who parks where but easily worked out. Beds were cozy! Plenty of clean towells.. overall awesome.
We had amazing time just being with family. We were only able to use inside of house. this property is not for winter, elder people, Handicap or young children. Properties on a very steep driveway, house with lots of levels & stairs. Both “garage” bedrooms are “just garages”. very cold with limited heater vents & plug-ins. There is no yard,. the Jacuzzi & area was covered with rotten slimy leaves, completely covered the back and side walkway, very slippery and dangerous (we didn’t use). The back door was not locked when we arrived w leaf all over carpet, their also was socks, a charger & pack of smokes in couch (for the ridiculously HUGE cleaning fee, both of these is unacceptable). Their is a lot of unfinished dangerous nooks & crannys for Little children, so no hide & seeks games. Example: open wires hanging out of BR closet wall, downstairs bedroom open closet the washer, dryer & water heater placed in there, exposed wires etc.,. (We had a amazing time just having 1st Grandbaby s Xmass here). But if we’re to rent again, definitely would be in the summer. But probably won’t. Young adults it’s perfect for girls trip etc. Be careful on super steep driveway. Make sure to vid & take pictures arriving & leaving just in case (as I did). Their is huge “Rules List” framed inside, maybe owers should read. Like I said, don’t want take away from our Christmas “it was AMAZING”. But us struggling, and watching the elderly couple struggle on that driveway walkway and stairs next-door larger house on property was painful. Come prepared , And bring everything you need with You. This Hills, gate & drive way make it a pain, to just run easily to the store.
The very steep driveway makes parking nearly impossible. The host did not specify beforehand that we needed to provide our car's license plate in order to park on the street (since we couldn't park in the driveway). We had to reach out first for check in information since it wasn't clearly provided to us prior to arrival. The property itself is clean and well maintained. Note that two of the bedrooms are actually in the garage so if you have multiple guests that might be a problem. It worked out fine for just the two of us. The hot tub was nice. There were some floating materials in the water and did not smell like chlorine but the host assured us that it was maintained and chlorinated prior to our stay.
We enjoyed Portland and our trip. However the tv in the upper bedroom was not hooked up. The garage bedrooms were cold and damp. The rug in the living room needed to b vacuumed. We had taken our 70 year old mother and there was no notification of the very steep incline to get in and out of the house. We got our car up to the half way point but the gate was closed on the second day so we thought that indicated we should not drive up. Thus complicating things further. The back area was not usable as the chairs were gross. We did have a coyote one day.
A very nice place with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. A steep driveway was definitely a challenge, but not enough to spoil accommodation. Overall, a good experience.
Everything was perfect
