I have been renting houses on the lake for sometime now and this is the first time we didn't have the privacy we have become accustomed to. Don't get me wrong, Bryan was very nice and accommodating. The house you stay at is kinda adjacent to Bryan's home and to access the water you have to be directly in front of their home. Like literally, you are swimming in their backyard. Right in front of the back porch. Again, Bryan was very accommodating, never interfered with anything we were doing, mostly my own anxiety talking here. Just not as private as we would have liked. The house itself was very comfortable, and if you are a group, it's easy to break off and have time for yourselves. Parking was easy and you are close to downtown, which is great. Not much of a yard. Probably wouldn't recommend for kids or even someone who has difficulty getting around (lots of stairs). But really our stay was very pleasant, great view of the fireworks for the fourth of July.
Thanks for a great week!
My husband and I just returned from a week on the water in this beautiful home, spectacular views. We are a boating family and bring our 26ft boat with us. The dock provided with rental is well kept, deep water and simple perfect. The house was super clean and a bit unusual with the upper and lower living levels, but great for older children/teens. The Holland Family were wonderful to work with and we highly recommend this property.
My husband and I enjoyed a lovely week on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. There could not be nicer and more welcoming hosts/owners than Bryan and his family. Though they are right next door, ( and you share a dock) they kindly gave us privacy. The house is very tidy and well cared for. It's slightly quirky with a kitchen and living/sleeping space on both levels. Ideal for a family with teenagers. Because it was just the two of us we stayed mainly on the first level where the view is quite nice! At times, the space felt a bit tight and we may have preferred more space. The town of Meredith is worth exploring and so nice to be able to walk from Bryan's place. For some reason the coin operated laundry bugged me but I know it wouldn't bother everyone. What it lacked in charm it made up for in hosts and a beautiful view and easy water access.
Super clean. Great views. Wonderful people to work with.
Our family stayed here in 2013. This is a great place to enjoy Lake Winnipesaukee with a family. You can wake up in the morning and go swimming in the lake right from the property, you can walk to Meredith (10-15 minute walk) where there are lots of great places for lunch and dinner you are a short ride away to lots of fun activities (Weirs Beach, zip lining, Attitash, go karts, mini-golf). The hosts live right next door and were wonderful. They did not intrude at all, but were right there whenever we needed them. The house itself has a couple of levels which allowed for plenty of space. The bottom level has a path right to the lake and is a great place to relax and hang out. Upstairs has a few more beds, a TV area and an extra kitchen.
My husband and I stayed at this wonderful rental property for two weeks in early August 2013. We found that the listing description was accurate. The property was immaculate and very comfortable and had all the needed amenities. The owner and his family were very accommodating, friendly and thoughtful, and did all they could to make our stay memorable. We loved being able to walk into town and yet found it to be very quiet. Having access to the dock was great although we did find it a bit difficult putting in our tandem kayak. The lake was as beautiful as ever. We would definitely recommend this property to any family. Our only complaint was that we had to return home.
My family and I have always loved the Lake and we have been in search of a clean, comfortable place to unwind. We have searched high and low looking for the minimal threshold of a clean, quiet place that is convenient (to the water and the surrounding attractions) and well kept up. After six years of looking for a place to stay on the water, we have finally found our match. The Hollands were gracious hosts that made us feel right at home. The property was just as promised in terms of everything advertised on VRBO.com. It is obvious that they have invested both money into the property as well as hard work to make an ideal vacation spot. Best of all, my teenage children had a blast wake-boarding, swimming and chillin' out. Meredith NH is as good as it gets ! Unlike other reviewers who complained about the House rules we felt that the these items were an obvious minimal expectation for how guests should treat the home. I felt that there was no unreasonable requests that any responsible adult would take issue with. After all, this is a vacation retreat, not a frat house. All in all the sign of a successful vacation is how we felt while we were there and how soon my family wants to return. We felt welcomed and everyone looks forward to next summer for a repeat 'escape from modern day pressures'
We had a wonderful vacation at this location in July of 2011. The property was exactly as described and very clean. The owners' house is right next door so they were there if you needed them but it still felt very private. I have never been to a more beautiful lake - very clean and no seaweed! The only downfall was the air conditioning. It really didn't work and was needed for the third floor during an exceptionally hot period. Also many stairs inside and out. My family didn't mind but I just had surgery so keep that in mind. I would recommend this to anyone and would love to return.
Nice property, next to Owner's house on edge of lake. Very clean and comfortable. Be prepared for a rental agreement prepared by some lawyer and 3 typewritten pages of House Rules. The phrase to leave it as you found it, means you clean kitchen, bathrooms and vacuum floors....so be prepared to checkout at 10AM after cleaning the house. Also washer and dryer are coin-operated. Area was quite crowded in August. Restaurants do not take reservations. Roads are bumper to bumper traffic so at height of season, you may want to go to a less publicized location.
