The listing and photos showed a pool table in the family room, but it was actually in the garage. The walkway to the beach was in poor condition—dry, cracked wood with rusty nails sticking out. Maintenance came and added about 50 screws, but the boards themselves were unsafe. Walking barefoot wasn’t an option unless you wanted splinters.Several lights needed repair, including one in a bedroom, the spotlight in the back, and the front light. The dishwasher was a major issue—it was dirty, completely nonfunctional, and with 12 of us in the house, we spent an unreasonable amount of time hand-washing dishes after every meal. The oven was filthy, and within minutes of using it, the kitchen filled with smoke.Overall cleanliness and upkeep were disappointing: chipped furniture, a table marked with coloring, tall weeds and grass around the pool deck, and even dirty counters upon arrival. We rent a home in the OBX every year, and this was by far the worst experience. I was hired to write about OBX rentals, but unfortunately, this property is unusable for that purpose. I did call to report all of these issues, but management did not go above and beyond to make things right.

Communication from Beach Realty was clear and helpful. The house was well maintained. We didn't have a big group, so the house accommodated us well. The deck and gates kept our dogs safely contained. We always use Farm Dog beach rentals for beach chairs and umbrellas, however the walkway to the beach is well maintained and it would not have been an issue to carry them out each day. Highly recommend you consider this house if you want to stay in KDH!

Kitchen accessories were abundant, but a 2nd auto drip coffee pot would have been useful for those that prefer decaf over regular, etc.Upstairs refrigerator ice maker was not operable, but the ice machine in the 1st level was perfect.Outside area could have been maintained better as there were many weeds in the driveway & pool area.Picnic table on upstairs deck is in need of replacement as the table was warped and the benches were falling apart.Beach path was a little awkward to walk on because of the accumulation of sand, but we were able to shovel a cleaner path to make it a little easier to navigate.HVAC filters need replacement and though it was reported upon our check-in, they were never replaced.We always enjoy a good dinner @ Miller's, Black Pelican and lunch @ Mama Kwan's & Goombays.

Mold in bathrooms, Loose railing on porch overlooking deck-unusable. Warped, splintered furniture on deck-unusable. Have used your company previously, will not do so in the future. This property should not be rented until fixed and cleaned.

Weather wasn't the best but had great fun with the puzzles and our books. House layout was perfect for our family. Our son proposed to his girlfriend on the one of the best nights (clear with the full red moon). Went golfing and watched the waves. Could not get the fireplace working which would of made it perfect but obviously, not that much of an issue since we didn't ask for help. We found other stuff to do. Thank you for hosting us!
