Stayed Jun 19, 2025My husband and I and our two pups loved staying in Holly's family home. The home itself is very cozy. The master bedroom with King sized bed is super comfortable with the bonus of a flat screened tv on the wall. While this home is about 45 mins to an hour from Bar Harbor, we loved staying in a quiet area with very little traffic. Holly's home is located on a long flat road that my husband enjoyed running on without having to worry about traffic. Holly was a great host, providing information via VRBO and in her home regarding local establishments for us to check out. I also want to mention that Holly's home is located close to Winter Harbor (a less crowded area of Acadia). I would have never known this if Holly didn't mention it. This is a must see as well.

Stayed Dec 28, 2024Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was neat and clean and as advertised. There was a lot of charm and character and the remoteness was what we needed to recover from the busy holiday season. Holly was a gracious host who communicated well and offered helpful suggestions for things to do. Our kids have had some disappointing winters recently, so having them spend some time outside in the snow and then come back inside to a warm, cozy home was well worth the 10-hour drive. If we come back to the area we will stay here again.

Stayed Oct 7, 2024This is an incredibly cozy place but still close enough to acadia nationalpark to make trips there. Holly's tipps were great and we had a blast. Watch out for the may deers on the road to the property :)

Stayed Aug 29, 2024We had a great stay at the farmhouse. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds. Listing details accurate. The host gave very helpful information. Check in was easy. It’s an older place, but well taken care of. A bit of a drive to Mt. Desert Island (40-45 min), but closer to the NE part of the park. We’d. Stay again!

Stayed Aug 11, 2024This property was very accurately described by the owner. It is not the Ritz but has a TON of charm and character. It had everything we needed and made our stay very enjoyable. The owner communicated with us very well and made suggestions about things to do/see in the area.

Stayed Jul 23, 2024I just read the negative review that was left before mine and am absolutely appalled! Everything I read was so innacurate compared to our experience. We had the most wonderful visit at the most lovely house. You can really tell the owner cherishes this property and we felt honored to enjoy a bit of the homes history this week. The house is definitely dated, but that only added to the charm. It really did have all the modern amenities i could have asked for. The wifi was good, beds were comfy and the water pressure was pretty decent. The owner was a fantastic host who made this such an enjoyable stay. 10/10!

Stayed Jul 1, 2024My friends and I were excited to stay in this charming home. Unfortunately, there were a few things and incidents that did leave a bit of a damper to our stay. 1) We were a group of 8 and there was only one shower that did not drain properly. We informed the owners about this and were told to use the Draino under the sink. We did, but it had no result. She informed us it always drains slow that’s just how it is. Luckily we had a friend who was willing to spend the time while on vacation to fish the drain and get another gallon of hair remover solution to clear the clog and fix it. 2) There are amenities shown on the listing page but when we arrived the place was not as advertised. The AC window unit was only for the first floor. At night, while the temperature is 60-70 the rooms can still get pretty hot and stuffy. We tried to open the windows, but several of the bug screens didn't fit, so we had to deal with mosquitos, spiders and moths. The space advertised that there was a grill on the premises, when we didn’t find one, we reached out to the host and were told that the grill was the little fire pit outside, the “front yard fireplace” as seen in the photos. 3) The kitchen utensils could use some updating. Many of the kitchen tools were very rusty and not safe to use. Others like the Keurig machine only worked when double the amount of water was used. Overall, this is a cute/nice house but to use the house’s age as an excuse to these problems did leave us w/ a bad taste.

Stayed Jun 25, 2024Good location for getting Out to Acadia, but expect a minimum of 30 - 40 minutes to most locations such as Cadillac Mountain, Acadia mountain, etc where we hiked. House was in a quiet neighborhood, enough space for everyone to rest comfortably after a long day of hiking. We really appreciated the insight into the area provided by Holly, particularly the Dunbar store, which was fantastic for everything we needed. Thanks!

Stayed Jun 21, 2024Holly's home was cozy and served well as a base for a group of friends to explore Northern Maine. The beds were comfortable and the the rooms and home were clean. We did have two small issues while there. One was the fire and smoke alarms. Had batteries that needed replacement. We went and purchased new batteries for the smoke alarms that were chirping and woke up one of our guests. When we asked the owner for reimbursement for the $8, she did not provide any any which was frustrating considering we are performing maintenance on her property as guests.
