My family and I really enjoyed our time at the cabin. There was enough wood supplied to burn a fire every night for several hours and everything was about a 20-30 minute drive (which is really good when you are in the mountains). The owner lives next door, which is convenient if you have any issues (which we didn’t) and they provide plenty of games to enjoy family time.

5 STARS! From the moment we arrived until we left, everything was perfect. Best Hosts you could possibly ask for, and the cabin was immaculate, everything you need and then some. Thank you all for having us and we will be back! :-)

The cabin is beautiful. It has everything you need and more. My family really enjoyed the abundance of family games (we played Cornhole every night!) and firewood (also nightly fires!). Everything is very clean and well stocked. The front porch hammock was my favorite place to nap! For anyone considering staying here: The property is located perfectly to explore the DuPont State Forest as it is about 5 miles away. Pisgah National Forest is about a 40 minute drive away, we spent lots of time hiking there as well. We also explored hiking along the Blue Ridge Parkway, about an hour drive away to get on the parkway. All in all, we WILL be back. Thank you for sharing this beautiful cabin with us!

We loved our week long stay. We spent our mornings doing yoga and drinking coffee on the wrap around porch, then headed out on our epic cycling adventures right from the cabin. We also took advantage of the walking distance to the cafe, the canteen, and the distillery on Cedar Mountain. It’s a magical location, and we hope to return!

Everyone needs a refuge, and this house is mine. We had a very stressful Fall last year, and when things were at their worst, and I could feel my blood pressure skyrocket, I’d take deep breaths and think about this wonderful cabin on this peaceful mountain. I’d think about the hammock on the wraparound porch, and how I’d burrito myself in blankets and scarves to lay there in the cold, listening to the wind in the trees and the birds chirping. It probably sounds silly, but it really helped to know that we had a trip booked so far ahead of time. It was a light at the end of a very long tunnel. Our family takes refuge at this cabin, and its steadiness and reliability has been an enormous comfort over the years.

We had a great girls trip weekend. Marcia was prompt and with any questions I had. The house had everything we needed. The house has games, extra blankets, plenty of towels for showers, space heaters and even fans for those that need them to sleep(this girl). I would definitely recommend to others and may book again for a family trip.

We had the best time at Marcia’s home! So much space, comfortable beds, games/puzzles, lots of extra blankets, a fully stocked kitchen! The front porch and huge private yard were our favorite part! We travelled with 3 kids 6 and under and it was perfect (pack n play and high chair provided). Can’t say enough good things and already looking forward to our next trip!

Lovely quiet location with great porch, yard and fire pit. So close to DuPont! My husband can ride to/from the trails. Kids love the nap swing on the porch and making s'mores by the fire. This was our second stay here and we will come back again!

Any time of year is a good time to visit Cedar Mountain. In the winter, there's beauty in the stark, bare trees, and you can see so far into the woods, and it's wonderful. In the summer, everything is full and lush; a riot of colorful flowers and the forest is dense with greenery and birdsong. In the Fall, there's the changing leaves, the smell of woodsmoke from the fire-pit (assuming it's safe, always check first!), the sight of deer and squirrels snacking a little extra to get ready for winter. But for me, Spring at Cedar Mountain, with its daffodils and lilies of the valley and snowdrops, the green buds on the trees and the way the sunshine filters through and bathes everything it touches in a yellow-green glow. That's what I love most. I take refuge in the hammock on the porch, book in hand, and when my eyes get tired of reading, I rest them on the trees and I listen to the birds, and I feel at peace.Being here fills me with a sense of hope and renewal, and my family and I leave every visit already planning our next stay.

Thanks again for another great stay. We have lost count of how many times we have stayed (6, 7, 8?) because we love it so much. That should be testimony in itself. This place is immaculately clean (very important!) with comfortable beds. Thanks for the beautiful, country Christmas decorations. We always enjoy our time here. We were very grateful that the Cedar Mountain Cafe (just down the road) has reopened after Hurricane Helene and ate breakfast there twice last week. We highly recommend this lovely home!

If, like me, you watched in horror as Hurricane Helene tore through Western North Carolina, ripping up trees, turning small streams and creeks into raging, flooding rapids, you probably wondered what you could do to help. If, like me, you started buying diapers and formula and toiletries and socks and other relief items to send with aid groups, and if, like me, you donated to GoFundMes and World Central Kitchen and *still* wondered what else you could do to make a difference...Now that the worst is over, now that the power is on, and the water works, and the roads are better-- the best thing you can do is go visit. Stay here in Cedar Mountain and walk down for breakfast or lunch (or both) at the newly reopened Cedar Mountain Cafe. Go listen to live music at Canteen and buy a bottle of wine or a beer or three. Head over into Brevard and buy an armload of books at Highland Bookstore. Go to the Transylvania County Farmer's Market on a Saturday morning and get a bottle of the best balsamic vinegar.Have a heavenly meal (the chicken curry is a must-have!) at Square Root. Go to Mast General Store in Asheville and get local jams and honey and a funny kitchen dishtowel and a new pair of boots, and then go next door to Curate and eat the best tapas you'll ever have in your life.Take your money and go pour it back into a joyful, loving community of people who hate to ask for help, but who need that help right now. You're welcome here-- what're you waiting for?
