Please come and enjoy this lovely rental home on your next vacation. For more info and pics, please go to wncfallingwater. The rental house sits in six secluded forested acres in the mountains of Western, NC, with a bold stream and continuous waterfall cascading down the entire length of the property. The rental home, itself, is 2,900 sq. ft., a three bed room, three bath work of art, with all rooms oriented toward the waterfalls. The vacation home is designed by an architect and artist, with magnificent architectural detail. Garden tubs, sumptuous linens, and gracious space are waiting for your relaxation. Sit in any room on your vacation, surrounded by original art and antiques, and look at the waterfall, the mountains, and the spectacular Pisgah National Forest.
At this vacation retreat, mountain wildlife abounds, bird watching is perfect, rhododendrons grow wild all over the property, and you can enjoy dangling your toes in the babbling waterfall. Maybe even snag a mountain trout for dinner! There are many areas along the waterfalls and up the mountain from the rental home that are secluded enough for clothing to be optional.
The immediate area around the vacation home is replete with artists, artists' studios, and many art festivals throughout the year. The Rhododendron Festival, the Artists' Studio Tour, the Gem and Mineral Festival, and the Blacksmith Festival are only a few. The local artists love to have visitors in their studios. There's even my own artist's studio and gallery on site, private to you alone, where you can shop or play in the studio.
Within walking distance of the vacation rental, there is white water rafting, mountain hiking trails on the Appalachian Trail, and the second tallest mountain east of the Mississippi, Roan Mountain, along with many other vacation activities to accommodate your interests and fancy. This county, Mitchell, has 49 of the fifty tallest mountains east of the MIssissippi.
I am here to make your vacation in this rental home the best vacation you've ever had. Your wish is my command. Please take the time to look at the house and the waterfall. You will enjoy the uniqueness and splendor of this vacation retreat in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
Thank you.
Yvonne, your hostess with the mostess.

My family and I spent a couple of weeks at Falling Water. The first thing that hits you when you pull into the drive is how secluded and private it feels, even though you've just pulled off a state highway. The second thing that hits you is the sound of the water, rushing down the mountain, right below the driveway. And, everything's green....trees all over the place....think the owner calls it an enchanted forest. She's right. The third thing that hits you is when you walk into the home and see how big the rooms are....the living room must be forty or fifty feet long. Because all the rooms are so large, the whole family can be in the kitchen without bumping into each other. Then, you discover that the place is so well-insulated, it's very easy to find private moments in each of the bedrooms, even though the rest of the family is watching TV in the living room. I'm an architect, and I envy the mind that created this home. It's so well-designed, with each of the bedrooms a great distance from each other. As a family spending time together, you can also get the privacy you need, or, you can be in any of the rooms as a group and still have space! It is an excellent home! My wife was always commenting on how clean everything was and how well-appointed the kitchen was. My kids loved the big tubs, with plenty of hot water. So, we all had a great time. And, there's a lot of things to do in the area. If you want to stay close to the home, you can just walk up into the woods or wander in the stream. If you want to get in the car, everything in the way of outdoor activities is close and there for you to enjoy. Some really good restaurants, too.
Christmas at Falling Water....what can I say? The home was immaculate and beautiful. And, waking up to snow one morning in this pristine place was incredible! Even with the snow, we weren't housebound, as the roads were kept so clear, and the driveway is level out to the road. Everything on VRBO about this place is true, and then some. The owner even provided us with a tree stand, lights and ornaments, AND told us where to go to get a really inexpensive tree. It was a great family outing, at a tree farm, where we were able to choose our own tree. Every little need was already met, without our having to ask. There's even a little step in the kids bath, so my son could reach the sink by himself. We were real happy staying at Falling Water, and would highly recommend it to anyone....we'll be back!
This home is incredible and we had a fantastic time....my entire family meeting for Thanksgiving. It was so private and natural with the woods and the waterfall, and the home was beautiful and spotless with lots of art and interesting furnishings. Plenty of room for everyone to have private moments in and out of the house. We've stayed at rental homes that give you a couple of plates, a few mis-matched drinking glasses, and two pots. This rental was set up like a chef's kitchen, and we could all be in the kitchen at the same time making our individual contributions to the meals. There was even a roasting pan for the turkey! All of us were so impressed with the home and its surroundings, and it made for a very happy time for everyone...no complaints. Just happiness, like it's supposed to be. Falling Water may be our only got-to vacation spot in the future.
Our family stayed for a month at Falling Water, and we all feel that it was the most enjoyable vacation we've ever had. The home was better, if possible, than its portrayal on the site. My wife and I got a lot of decorating ideas that we're going to try ourselves....esp. that rock wall!! The area is beautiful. The pace of life is so soothing and comfortable, and everyone was as friendly as can be. The fall colors were as good as we get in NY. Yvonne surely is the hostess with the mostess. She was available as needed, with helpful directions and recommendations, and left us to our privacy the rest of the time. If you would like to vacation at this home and area, you can't go wrong. It was just a wonderful experience. Thanks!
Bob and I have packed everything up into the car and will be leaving in the morning. We've had such an enjoyable time and would love to stay forever. We've had the best nights sleeping here and the best weather anyone could ask for. Everyday the sky was Carolina blue. It got warm in the daytime but the house stayed cool without air-conditioning. We didn't even turn on the ceiling fans. We went to a lot of art galleries and studios. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We found several really good restaurants. My favorite was one on the golf course at Mt. Mitchell. The beds felt like they were new, with that extra padding on the mattresses. And the quilts and bed linens were wonderful. The kitchen was fully equipped and we had fun making meals some of the time. All the rooms had cable TV. Big selection of music too. Even classical and opera, my favorites. Candles came in handy. The big tubs with plenty of hot hot water. The waterfalls and the sounds....lulled us to sleep every night. No other noises except the birds. We don't want to leave but will surely be back!
My two adult daughters, I, and the light of my life, my 16 month old grandson, had such a wonderful time at Falling Water for a week. My husband was scheduled to come with us, but, at the last minute, he had to work! That didn't stop us girls from enjoying every minute of our stay! The home is stunningly beautiful, inside and outside, immaculate and decorated with so much taste and style. It was truly like a home away from home. We just settled in like the place was made for us! It rained several days while we were there, and the forest and waterfalls became very misty and ethereal. The sunny days were most welcomed, though! So much to do in the area, from art galleries and studios, to fine restaurants, to scenic views at every turn. We found our hostess to be most helpful and responsive, and warm and friendly. She greeted us upon arrival, and, about an hour later, I called and asked for a larger door mat at the back door.....rainy...muddy. She came to the rental within ten minutes with a huge industrial doormat. While she was at the home, I also asked her for beach chairs and additional towels to take to our river outing. These were provided within minutes. She was most courteous, drawing easy to read maps for us, and assuring us to call if we needed anything. She seemed genuinely desirous of making our stay the wonderful one it was. We didn't see her again during the entire stay. The photos do not do this home justice. Everything was so sumptuous, comfy and all needs were anticipated and provided. The garden tubs, the lotions and potions, the bedding and towels.....made us all feel like we had just been transported to another world! All of us would recommend this home for anyone who would like a wonderful vacation.
We were extremely dissatisfied with our vacation rental experience at this property and with this owner. We do not recommend this owner or this property. During our 4 night stay we had problems with a toilet and the dryer. We also found the house to be un-clean. We were surprised and uncomfortable with the owner’s very close proximity, presence and contact with us. We felt unsafe and as though we had no privacy while staying at the home. Ultimately, we had the most negative experience possible.
My hubby and I had been invited to a wedding of an old college friend in Bakersville, NC, and we decided to make a little vacation out of the trip, as it was our anniversary, as well. I'm so glad we did! I was so happy to find a place where we could also bring our child, Mitsy, our little miniature poodle. She had as much fun as we did! Falling Water is a beautiful place on a good state road, but so absolutely private, secluded and quiet.....just the sound of the waterfalls and song birds. We watched feeding raccoons, possums, brids of all kinds, and woodchucks, and a big deer crossing the stream, too. The home is gorgeous, and we took several steamy bubble baths in one of the big garden tubs....even the bubble bath was provided by the owner. In fact, the place was so well-supplied that, had I known, I would have only brought my clothes! Washing machine soap, dishwasher soap, just everything....of course, there were plenty of candles, as well! Such a romantic, comfortable place....yet, even though we felt as if we were in a secret garden all our own, we were able to connect back to our business with the Wifi! The DVD player let us watch some movies...just incredible. Yvonne, the owner, was a very big help on several ocassions and just a joy to deal with. We'd go back in a NY minute!
Our second stay at this incredible place! We're just pulling out of the driveway of Falling Water. All of us want to stay forever. Such a lovely place, such a fun hostess, such a pleasure to stay. Everything you read about this place is true, and then some. Clean, well-maintained, kitchen with anything you could want, bedrooms with views to die for, and those garden tubs!!! The sound of the creek lulled us to sleep each night, and it was invigorating in the daytime to sit down by the waterfall with our feet dangling in. Just a joy. Now, back to our real lives!
My sister, brother and I , along with our respective spouses, had a wonderful family reunion at Falling Water. The home is beautiful, clean and private. The woods are incredible. In fact, I think the photos do not do the place justice. There's so much to do in the area, too, and it's allso inexpensive. One night,w e heard live music for free, another, day we toured a lot of the artists' studios, and, one day we took a blacklight boat tour throgh one of the gem mines...fascinating and thrilling! The owenr was helpful and generous, and the home was well-appointed. We'd go back toorrow if we could.
