Comfortable and well appointed, this home has lake views from nearly every room. Great place for family gatherings or quiet work in a beautiful mountain setting.
The Host was super efficient regarding fixing pontoon boat . Unable to use grill. Quite a few dust bunnies under mattress /under and behind furniture.
Picture postcard perfect. House is dated but has everything you need except groceries and firewood. We'll be back soon and often.
Absolutely spectacular stay! We had to stay a little over a month because we were doing renovations on our home and we were truly sad to leave. Bob and his family are precious!! The stories he can tell you about the home he’s owned for over 45 years are very nostalgic. Every section of this property is Devine and the view of the lake in every room is just amazing. Don’t forget to feed the duck duck goose and take a moment to take it all in and appreciate its beautiful history.
a visit at Highland House during the leaf season. So comfortable and homey with beautiful lake view. Well appointed and located very close to Highlands and Cashiers for shopping, dining and outdoor exploring. Obviously, a family home that is well loved. Grateful the owner shares it!
The location is great and it is an extremely peaceful place. Plenty of space and a wonderful fireplace. Close to Highlands and Cashiers. The owner was always available to answer any questions we had.
Great location, house needs update and deep cleaning.
We had a great week of Thanksgiving with our family at this property. The owner was very responsive to any questions and the house was perfect for our family. Wonderful quiet neighborhood within a few minutes of Highlands.
This is a much loved family house for the owner, and you can tell when you enter. It is one of the best locations I have been to since using Vrbo. It's on a pond with the best view in the subdivision. It is private, close to Highlands, has two kayaks, a pontoon boat with electric motor, fishing (good fishing) and is close to many hiking trails and waterfall. We had a delightful time.
We arrived and started fishing immediately! The beautiful lake is well stocked with rainbow trout and bass. We caught quite a few of both daily. You can find fishing worms at the small exxon station on Main St. in Highlands. There is a 2 person pontoon boat with an electric motor, and kayaks to use. There is no central air conditioning, but the weather in September is cool, 50's to 70's, so it wasn't missed. The house is well stocked with cooking utensils. We cooked our meals daily. The house has a gas grill, though you may have to clean it prior to using it. We used the portable gas grill we brought with us. There is a firepit. You can buy bundles of firewood for it, and the fireplace, at Bryson's grocery in Highlands. There are limited restaurants nearby in Highlands. Everything is pricey in Highlands, and the downtown area is very small. If you want to visit a town where you can walk downtown for a couple of hours and visit many interesting places of business in a beautiful, quaint setting, I suggest Brevard, which is about 35 miles or so from Highlands. Cashiers doesn't have much more to offer than Highlands, unless you are an avid hiker, golfer, or you want to drive the roads visiting waterfalls. The property itself is really as beautiful as the pictures, and we found ourselves just wanting to stay here, relax, fish, cook, and be off the grid for our 2 week vacation. It is a great place to reunite with family and just be together. Bob, the owner, is beyond wonderful, and so considerate.
