This house has been a year-round home, so it has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Designed by Ken Gaylord Architects and built in 2012 to the most exacting standards of comfort, security, and efficiency, the main house has a fully-stocked kitchen with a lake view, a dining room that comfortably seats 8, and a cozy living room with tons of natural light. The huge screened-in porch has a dining table for 8, a couch for napping, 8 rocking chairs, 2 rocking horses, and a dress-up trunk that's fun for everyone!
Most bedrooms have a lake view and expansive windows designed to maximize the cross breezes, and all have ceiling fans (though there's AC if you need it). Bedroom 1 is the master with a queen bed and adjoining bath with soaking tub and separate shower. Bedroom 2 has twin beds which can be joined into a king, and a bathroom with shower next door. The cool downstairs bedrooms can be adjusted to suit your needs: bedroom 3 can be either twin beds or a king bed; bedroom 4, which has a queen bed, can also have a crib or a toddler bed. There is a large full bath downstairs. There's a covered lanai with a hammock, perfect for curling up with a book during an afternoon shower.
The modern kitchen has everything you need, including basic ingredients and condiments, all major appliances, a gas stove, and a unique “invisible corner” picture window that welcomes in the lake views. Enjoy grilling on the propane grill next to the flower garden outside-- there is a seating area and a refurbished vintage see-saw swing, so nobody has to grill alone! Adjacent to the kitchen is a laundry and pantry area, with full-sized washer and dryer.
The living room has a huge gas-assist, wood-burning fireplace built from stones recovered from the original residence on this property, dating back to 1940. The upright piano, along with a selection of games & puzzles, books for all ages, and a TV with internet TV and DVD's cover all of your entertainment needs.
The boathouse is a quick walk down the hill. There you'll find plenty of chairs and an umbrella on the dock, a canoe for exploring the lake, and some floats. There's a basic kitchen, a half-bath, and a bedroom with two cots—perfect for kids, or anyone who wants to start the day with a refreshing dip in the lake. There is an upstairs room with screened-doors on all sides and a covered porch with a picnic table and chairs. The adjacent beach area has a large picnic table, and a second grill is available inside the boathouse for lakefront cookouts.
This house is just so comfortable-- you'll enjoy a week away from the stresses of modern life in our luxurious lake retreat!
We had a wonderful stay at this great spot on Lake Summit. The home had everything we needed and some great family charm. We enjoyed the main house porch and rocking horses. We loved the unique boathouse and dock and water toys. There is a fairly steep driveway and steps to the boathouse but everything is landscaped. 4 couples slept comfortably. Thanks for our stay.
Fantastic location near Hendersonville and Saluda, lots of gear for cooking. Lake community has really cool, unique character. Home had great spaces for dining and hanging out with phenomenal views. Only negative was that most of our crew thought the beds were a little tired and weren’t comfy.
Katherine‘s home is so lovely! It was the perfect level of comfortability with absolutely everything we needed! Our family ranged from 18 months to almost 70 and everyone enjoyed it immensely. The location on the lake is the best you could ask for. We all agreed this was our favorite family vacation. We cannot wait to go back!
This property is even better than it looks in the pictures. House is stocked with everything we could need. Porch was heavenly, view of the lake was gorgeous. The paddle boards were in great shape. This was perfect for a 2-family getaway and we would definitely come back again.
We had a great time at this property! The boathouse was right on the water and was so fun to spend time there. Back porch of main house was spacious and we spent 90% of our time there. Thank you for the stay! Loved reading about the property history.
My family loved staying at this beautiful mountain home. It was well equipped with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and easy. The front porch was a major bonus! We would definitely rent this property again!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Lake Summit and your home was perfect for us. We were celebrating a big birthday and it was our first trip as a family with a our newly married children. The porch was a favorite with plenty of rockers to enjoy during morning coffee and a great table where we played cards every night. The bedroom configuration allowed each couple to have a room and bath to themselves. Love the boathouse and the paddle boards too. Everything was so comfortable and felt like home. I can not recommend this home highly enough. We hope to return!
the house was well taken care of and a great place to stay on Lake Summit
Nice house with everything we needed. The boathouse is fantastic with great views. We enjoyed the kayak and paddle boards.
We loved our time at the mountain house over looking beautiful Lake Summit. The boathouse was an added bonus, spending time in paddle boards and kayaks. The owner was very communicative and helpful. Best VRBO ever!
