Stayed Jan 13, 2025Mal País unlike Santa Teresa is a quiet little community, this home is tucked behind a large building so obscured from view; beautiful large front deck and yard, convenient outdoor shower, walking distance to multiple beaches, fantastic restaurant and cafe shop across the street. 100% awesome!

Stayed Jan 7, 2022Our stay at “our little place “ in Mal Pais was wonderful beyond our expectations. Everything was immaculately clean, fresh and welcoming. The place was exactly as presented in the photos. Our Host, Soraya, was so kind, very quick to respond when we needed some help. I highly recommend this property for a single person or couple. Also, having your own rental car, or Quad/Motor bike makes getting around much easier. The sunsets off the quiet Playa del Mal Pais are just as gorgeous as any where else on the Nicoya Peninsula! Huge thanks to Soraya, Lyla, and Angel Bales!! Pura Vida!

Stayed Jan 17, 2019I think most people would really like this place but I didn't like it because it was too modern and I felt like I was in an apartment or motel room in the U.S. I was by myself so the other negative is that there is no town nearby to meet people. Mal Pais is not a town. It consists of one tiny grocery store and one restaurant named Mary's. Mary's is right across the dirt road and is very nice with great food and drink and is upscale but homey. The nearest town is Santa Teresa and is about 1.25 miles away. So having a car would be good. Or, one can take a taxi for $6 U.S. one way which is what I did almost every day. Santa Teresa is also where you will go to the beach because there is no beach for swimming by this rental. There is a beach 5 minutes walking distance but it is all rock and not swimmable. Tom M
