Stayed Dec 23, 2024This was a beautiful property off the beaten path. Exactly as described. Nothing better than waking up to the sounds of the jungle and the waves from the ocean. Despite being completely open to nature, the property was well kept and clean. The onsite staff kept to himself for the most part, but was very helpful when we had questions. We were visited by Scarlet Macaws daily, saw Toucans, Squirrel Mobkeys, Iguanas, and even a bioluminescent plankton on the shore. Truly a magical place and hope to return.

Stayed Mar 29, 2025What a marvelous time we had immersed in the open life between this beautiful beach and wild mangrove river. The host went above and beyond to arrange our desired trips kayaking, exploring Corcovado, enjoying the Gulf, massages, birding, and suggesting options for food experiences. He even suggested the shuttle from San Jose and the hotel to use there as well. Know that Punta Preciosa is remote. It is wild. It is 25 minutes by taxi to town, so come prepared with food and your desired beverages. Three restaurants are within walking distance. The beach is empty and perfect for swimming. The birding is spectacular.

Stayed Jan 15, 2024Almost Glamping in a beautiful jungle house surrounded by critters and the sea. Perfect remote relaxation with all the ‘creature’ comforts. Recommend to stock up on food and some supplies before arrival n town; a few nearby small resort restaurants to eat at; one next door for lunch. Highly recommend this property to the adventurers and the recluse!!

Stayed Jun 7, 2023Beautiful out of the way location. The downstairs is very open, letting in the breezes but also bring bug spray. The bedrooms were on the second floor and had mosquito netting on the windows, keeping the bugs out, but letting the breeze in. The beds were very comfortable.

Stayed Feb 28, 2023I would say the property is as pictured and as described. The overall price for what you get is not aligned; in my opinion, this should cost much less than it does. It was also a longer drive from town than I would have preferred (see below). Here are the issues we had: 1. Not having cell phone service to get in contact on the way there. It is a 20-30 minute drive on sand/rock roads after Puerto Jimenez, with huge pot holes and divots, extremely rough on the vehicle and us as passengers. I ended up dreading any time we had to go to town for a tour/food. 2. No A/C. It states it is open air, but it was still a shock to try and sleep with only a fan in 90 degree weather 3. No curtains. Two bedrooms face the sunrise, so you can be guaranteed to be up early as the 6 am sun comes in 4. Noise. There are only mesh screens, so the macaws coming in around 5-5:30 AM (while beautiful!) are extremely noisy, dropping almonds on the tin roof and squawking right outside the rooms 5. Not alone. VRBO is meant to be your party only on the property. However, one of the hosts was always around. That was unexpected. Here were things we enjoyed: 1. Ocean. Easy walk to the ocean from the property. 2. Kitchen. We bought food at grocery store and could prepare simple things like PBJ sandwiches and drinks. 3. Turtles. Manual allowed me to help him release baby turtles on the morning of my birthday, which was really special. 4. Rooms/bathrooms. Each bedroom had a small bathroom with sink, shower and toilet. Always nice to have a cold shower in the extreme heat.
