Stayed Nov 7, 2025Cottage is directly on the beach and has excellent views of the water. The beach itself is ok - the area directly in front of the cottage is clean and kept but the neighboring properties aren't as well kept.

Stayed Mar 11, 2025I can’t say enough good things about this place!! The property manager Cheryl was amazing in helping in every way. From procuring a ride to and from the airport, to telling us about all the great things to do and see, to checking up on us and making sure there is nothing else we needed. We even got a chance to speak with the owners of the property and they were just about as kind as kind gets! Really great folks. The village, the community, the atmosphere is second to none!! If you want to have a relaxing vacation then this is the place to go! I’m already planning my next trip!!The only tip I will give though is make sure to get some bug spray!! While in the house you are fine, but out and about the no-see-ums will make you their lunch.

Stayed Mar 22, 2024It isnt possible to rate this property without some background on Hopkins and the area around the property. The house and land is amazing, you have your own private beach and the home is equipped with everything you need and then some, like an awesome sea kayak. Inside the home there are plenty of dishes, utensils, and everything you need outside of a dishwasher and washer/dryer. I do think that is common in this area though and that has to be part of the overall review. Hopkins was a surprise to me. After a week there i can honestly say I loved my stay and we had an amazing time but i am not sure no matter how awesome this house and property may be or that it is a good choice for someone who is uniformed. Hopkins is a small, undeveloped, poor, and dirty town. Walking down the main road there are many unfinished dilapidated structures everywhere and to be honest a lot of trash and garbage. Hopkins is full of poverty and people live in conditions that some may refer to as abject poverty. This is no outside development here, no chain hotels or stores and you cant get a lot of things on a daily basis, such as avocados. There is though a charm to it and beautiful beaches, a reef and jungles all around. My wife loved our vacation but wont go back, my daughters and i are on the fence. What you see on line about Hopkins 100% does not inform you of the reality of Hopkins. A better option may be Samara, Costa Rica if you want a small, local type beach town.

Stayed Mar 1, 2024The Casita was exactly as advertised, clean on the beach and beautiful property. Hopkins village was laid back and the restaurants were great. If you want a peaceful place with plenty of other activities to travel to then this is the place. The house and deck were just what we wanted.

Stayed Dec 21, 2023We had a great stay in Hopkins. Casita del Mar was very comfortable. The view was incredible and the sun rises were amazing. We did a fair bit of work remotely during our two week stay and the wifi was very good. We had no problems with connectivity and did several virtual meetings. The kitchen was well-stocked with cups, glasses, pots, pans, cling wrap, and the like. We had plenty of towels, and the bedding was nice. The mattresses were good for me but a bit firm for my wife, but the property manager provided a couple of quilts that we put under the fitted sheet to make the bed a little softer. It's not noted in the descriptions nor in the pictures, but Casita del Mar is now a duplex--a second living area has been constructed under the original house (which is/was pictured on stilts). I don't believe this unit is for rent but rather for the personal use of the owners. They don't live there permanently but were around for part of our visit. They nice, friendly, and quiet, but you may not have the property entirely to yourself. Hopkins is a small village, and the location of Casita del Mar makes many things very walkable--several restaurants, grocery store, fruit stands, and laundry. To get a little farther afield, you might want to rent a car or a golf cart. We had very good food within walking distance and a couple of incredible meals down at the resorts south of the main village. We would definitely go back!

Stayed Sep 23, 2023Very well-maintained and comfortable….close to Hopkins center and numerous restaurants and small Garifuna food stands. Beach area in front of the property extremely clean and well-groomed, unlike many of the properties nearby (trash, etc.). The kitchen was well-stocked if needed. The communal chickens were fun to watch….and even the neighborhood dogs on the beach were super chill! Villagers were perhaps the friendliest that we have ever interacted with anywhere.

Stayed Aug 3, 2022Everything at Casita del Mar was perfect! Kitchen is well stocked with everything (other than food) you might need. Pots and pans, cups and glasses, oil, salt, microwave. Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. A/C was cold at night. Bathroom was large and the shower was spacious. Plenty of bath, hand and beach towels; we brought our own, too. Living room is nice and cozy with a futon, 2 chairs and small coffee table. And the best part! The AMAZING porch that looks out onto the beach and you can hear the waves all day long! We hung up the 2 hammocks provided, and there are 2 lounge chairs available, too. There were many other amenities we didn't use; yoga mats, binoculars, cards, mats, etc. A very well organized beach home. Cherly is vert helpful and quick to answer any questions and to help with food, shuttle and whatever else we needed. We were late to check in because we took the long way from BZE and she even texted me to check on us. Definitely a place we would stay in again.
