Great clean house close to everything. Downstairs living area with pool table was perfect for our teenagers and the fact it was pet friendly was a huge plus. Will rent again!

My ladies golf group stayed at Bacon In The Sun and loved the house. It is close to everything and I would highly recommend this property

Easy check in. House was ready to go. Minor bump in the road with the master bath but the property manager was quick to remedy

Overall we had a nice stay. There are some things in the Vrbo listing that are incorrect and should be updated: WiFi info, the availability of towels/sheets, the check out time is different on the info sheet at the house vs the Vrbo listing. The AC stopped working, but the owner had someone out to fix it the next day so no big. Location is fantastic.

Location is fantastic. Husband and I are in our fifties and not in tiptop shape. Walk to the beach is easy. House was big enough for 10 of us and great set up. Nice fenced yard for dogs. Perfect for us…will come again!! Now if only the jellyfish stay away…..lol

We really enjoyed our stay at Bacon in the Sun. The location is great, so close to many stores and restaurants and a fairly short walk to the pier and beach. The side street was great for biking with the bikes provided in the shed. The layout of the house was nice for our family with the back bedrooms where little kids were sleeping away from the living room and the downstairs giving space for the older kids to hang out. The outside shower was also great. This is an older beach house that has been made very cozy and inviting. We loved the convenience of the pier being so close. We saw dolphins swimming at the beach 3 separate days and saw someone catch a stingray from the pier and successfully release.

Older updated cottage. Needs some more updating in places.Dual coffee maker leaks on counter and in need of replacement. Hot water supply spotty. Leak under kitchen sink. Horrendous Wi-Fi as you can connect but no internet connection????? Contacted host via VRBO on Friday evening as of Monday when we checked out never any answer from host? I owned short term rental property in OBX and used a management company with much better experience. Is this reflection on VRBO or specific owner???? Unsure if using private rental in the future or stick with properties under property management services so guest communication and amenities are monitored in a timely manner.

Stayed over Thanksgiving and kitchen had everything we needed for a proper meal! Property just as description says! Clean and very easy to communicate with owners. Family of 9 had lots of room to play pool and ping pong, walked to fishing pier and tie dye shop. Would definitely stay again. Thanks.

This was a wonderful stay . Location was great, very short walk to the beach and to Avalon pier ( great food and entertainment there btw). Home was clean and spacious . Well equipped kitchen if you want to cook ( We chose to enjoy local foods).Owners/host were very gracious and responded quickly . I will definitely stay here again !

We enjoyed our stay at BACON in the SUN! Location was great, easy walk to Avalon pier and the beach, and easy drive to grocery stores and restaurants. The house was as advertised, and everything was clean and in good working order. Young adult kids really enjoyed the game room. Older adults appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, and easy parking for 2 or 3 cars. The AC system worked very well, keeping the entire house cool even on hot days. The outdoor shower was clean, and even has hot water. Check-in and out was clearly explained and straightforward. Traffic noise was significant when on the deck, but not an issue inside. The property is only one house away from the busy highway running down the center of the island. Overall, would happily recommend to others.

If you are looking to stay in Kill Devil Hills, NC, I highly recommend Bacon in the Sun. The whole experience from start to finish was fantastic. The Darden’s have absolutely thought of everything for a great vacation. The house is a short 5 min walk to the beach and the Avalon Pier which has music every night. The house was clean and felt like home. The fenced in backyard was perfect for our dog who was able to run and play without worrying about being on a leash. There are lots of great restaurants close by also. You won’t be disappointed with staying here.

Our group thoroughly enjoyed this house! We spent the morning and evenings cooking in the beautiful kitchen, riding bikes, or relaxing on the deck! I will say, this is pet friendly and we LOVED the fenced in yard, but do your research as the beach is not pet friendly. That was my own fault. Thankfully we had rented a golf cart (not exactly necessary, it’s not a bad walk but our group had a lot of stuff) and we drove down to Kitty Hawk on the golf cart or truck. The highway isn’t loud at all and I was worried about that, since I’m not used to any night time noise. I will say it’s hard to get out if you are turning left on the main highway, but not a dealbreaker for us. Overall we really enjoyed it. I quickly booked this for our group really without any opinions because it was such a rare gem and I got so many compliments on finding such a great property! We will be back for sure!

Overall the cottage is comfortable, reasonably close to the beach as well as other restaurants and places we like to visit. There were a few items of safety concern, mostly because of the 1-6 year olds that were with us, that I submitted to the owner and property manager who took care of them immediately. We love the area and would be happy to return to this cottage.

Clean house

We arrived prior to check in time and checked the lockbox as indicated for the keys to the home. There were no keys in either box. When contacted, the owner responded informing us the cleaning company did not leave the keys as they should have and said the keys would be arriving from the cleaning company. We had to wait an additional 50 minutes past the 4:00 pm check in time for the keys to be brought to the home Some of the amenities were not functioning as advertised. For example, during the stay the air conditioning went out and did not work. A message was sent to the owner on Monday. We did not hear from the owner regarding the issue until Wednesday evening. When we heard from the owner, we were told the messages were being sent to their child’s cell phone, which was the reason for the delay in the response, but when responding about the key issue, the message was responded to in a timely manner. Additionally, the dishwasher was not working. When notified, the owner indicated that it could be due to the GFCI outlet. This did help, but again another issue in the home that required the owner to be contacted Communication with the property owner/manager was not responsive. The numbers provided on VRBO app and website were not accurate. The messages were being sent to the child’s cell phone With the a/c being out, we opted to sleep in the lower level since it was cooler. While preparing the pull-out couch we found mouse droppings in the mattress. Not a great stay
