FAQs:

Q: How close is the house to Acadia National Park
A: Great question! Many first-time visitors think that the only way to get into Acadia is through the Park Loop Road in Bar Harbor, but in reality the park is spread out all over Mount Desert Island (and beyond) and is connected via the extensive Carriage Road and trail system. The closest access point is the Western Mountain connector road, just 1/4 mile from our door!

Q: How many vehicles can I park
A: The driveway has a capacity for up to three vehicles.

Q: Is early check-in available
A: Unfortunately we are unable to offer early check-in as we almost always have a group checking out the same day as the next one arrives. We need the entire time between groups to properly clean and prepare the space for your arrival.

Q: Are pets allowed
A: Yes, pets are allowed at Brook House for an additional fee.

Q: What if the weather is bad/the Park is crowded Can I cancel
A: Please refer to the listing for a description of the cancelation policy. Just as our guests expect to have their reservations honored, we also rely on consistent bookings to continue operations and do not have the ability to absorb last-minute cancellations as many hotels do. Though we can't control the weather, the Mount Desert Island area has lots of rainy-day activities to keep you entertained any time of the year!

Q: How far away is Bar Harbor, groceries, etc
A: Distances to local attractions from Brook House:

Bar Harbor (restaurants, hospital, shops, etc.): 15 miles / 25 minutes
Bangor (big-box stores, airport): 51 miles / 1 hour 15 minutes
Downtown Southwest Harbor (restaurants, bars, shops): 2 miles / 5 minutes
Ellsworth (shopping, supplies): 20 miles / 31 minutes
EV Charger (Level 2): In the garage
Grocery Store (Southwest Food Mart): 2 miles / 5 minutes
New England Outdoor Center/Baxter State Park (for white water rafting, moose watching, climbing Katahdin): 131 miles / 2 hours 30 minutes
Portland (city & airport): 178 miles / 3 hours

Note: For safety and security, we have motion-activated security cameras on the exterior of the property which will be active during all stays.

We were more than pleased w our stay here. Brandon had it staged perfectly for guests! Our one-year old grandson loved roaming the home and the beautiful outdoors. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck w comfy patio furniture, loved our campfire on the back lawn, Beds were very comfy, nice full bathrooms, well-stocked kitchen w nice appliances, and comfy family room furniture. WiFi worked great as well as tv eventhough too much beauty to watch tv often, We just couldn’t get ice from the fridge. Likely our lack of knowledge in working the ice maker but ok. Didn’t need much ice. The location of the home is close proximity to Acadia National park. The Southwest Harbor downtown was so quaint w neat local shops and fantastic dining. We enjoyed dining at Upper Deck and an amazing meal at Drydock cafe and Inn. Oh, Lobster Pier was wonderful for our fresh lobster and fixings A gourmet meal at DryDock downtown! ! The little side patio bar by the pita place across from Dry Dock was a hidden treasure. We hiked, enjoyed the shuttle to Cadillac Mountain, loved the lighthouse not far away. We highly recommend this rental. Roomy, very clean, and very well staged!! Brandon was always quick to respond, but we had no issues to bug him with!!A very peaceful getaway. Deer roamed the property every mng

Good location near SW Harbor, but the neighborhood was a bit sketchy with a burned out trailer and industrial businesses nearby.House was well stocked with towels & linens, and nice soaps in bathrooms. Same with kitchen supplies. House was clean, but smelled of faint cigarette smoke & pet. Nice big deck & back yard fire pit. Large Roku TV was nice & we were able to stream all our favorite services. Owner was accessible during our short booking window, as we only booked a few days out.

We enjoyed our stay at this VRBO on the western quieter side of Acadia. The proximity to the park as well as general store was perfect! The deck and fire pit in the yard made evenings fun and relaxing. All tools in the home were present to provide a great family stay!

It was exactly what the pictures showed, the area was very convenient and perfect for the dogs, it's near some businesses vs a neighborhood, but was quiet and secluded, I would definitely recommend.

We stayed here in early October and had a fantastic stay. The house is close but also just far enough from bar harbor and the park. We did a suggested morning hike right from the house and it was amazing. So convenient to not have to find a parking spot in the busy season. Conveniently close to the house was an amazing coffee shop/bakery (Milagro Coffee and Espresso). The stars were also a sight not to be missed. We were able to see some shooting stars on our last night. Could not recommend this place enough.

We had an incredible time staying here! The house was incredibly clean, comfortable, and stocked with anything you might need for your stay. Brandon and Veronica were very gracious hosts. We lost power for a day due to a tropical storm and their team was super accommodating. They gave us waters and sent their friend over with lights, candles, and games until the power returned. They responded quickly to any messages and made sure we were taken care of. The house is in a perfect location as well. It’s on a quieter side of Acadia but is also just a short drive to Bar Harbor and the main Acadia attractions. It’s nice to have access to Acadia without the crowds plus trails that are all nearby. We loved our stay and can’t wait to return! Highly recommend.
