Wonderful property for visiting the Acadia park area. Wish the trees opposite the porch were gone so the water could be viewed. Great location to travel to nearby attractions.

This house is felt like home when we first got in. The kitchen is fully functioning and well stocked of cooking tools. The grocery store is just on the other side of town, maybe a 5 minute drive, and a restaurant, The Upper Deck, with both great food and views, is right across the street. Danielle is very communicative, answering messages quickly.

Path to the cottage is not good for anyone that is disabled in anyway. A motion light would be a great addition as we came back after dark most nights. I did not realize it was on a busy road, had the image that it was on the water through the trees.

Though Chickadee's Nest isn't a bad property overall, this stay needs quite a few updates. One of the living room chairs has a broken leg, one of the toilet seats upstairs is completely sliced, the dryer is at an angle that makes the whole machine rumble and screech terribly, and the king bed upstairs has an unstable bed frame. (My husband tried to sit on the end of the bed to put his shoes on, and the slat and the mattress at the bottom fell through to the floor). We also had to limit the dryer load to 3-4 pieces of clothing because it was so unstable. The bathrooms are pretty small, and because the showers are upstairs, I would highlight that this isn't a handicap/ limited mobility accessible residence. My family and I were in town for the primary purpose of exploring Bar Harbor/ Acadia NP, so almost all of our excursions were 20 minutes away driving time (Cadillac Mountain, Park Loop Rd, Bar Harbor, etc.) Just some things to note if you are traveling with older family members or children who might not be entertained by hours of driving daily.

We had a wonderful week at the Chickadee’s nest, perfect for a girl’s trip to MDI. Danielle was an excellent host and was incredibly quick and detailed with communication. The house was walking distance to SW harbor and within easy driving distance to NE harbor, Bar Harbor, and Acadia. We loved it and will definitely stay here again when we return to Maine!

The Chickadee nest was a great place for my family's first time on Mount Desert. The location was terrific, away from the crowds of downtown Bar Harbor but we could easily drive or take the shuttle to any of those destinations if we wanted to. The nearby main street in Southwest Harbor was very artistic and a great area to have a chill walk to, some of those shops were even nicer than Bar Harbor.Danielle was very communicative and quick to respond for any needs, and if anything was missing or below standards, she was very attentive and made up for it. The house is quaint and spacious. There are some old school decor touches that are interesting. The rooms were really cute and comfortable. There are some handles for the older people, which is nice, because I was with my parents who are older. That being said, there are some sharp edges and a few steps that might not be easy for some seniors, just a warning. Also for those sensitive about sounds, the washer and dryer make loud noises when being run, so you might want to run it when you're out of the house or just hang dry your clothes instead. Luckily we're not that sensitive. Overall, it was a lovely place to visit!

Beautiful and quaint cottage. Lovely town and close proximity to Acadia/Bar Harbor. Felt very comfortable and homey-plenty of room for our family of 6.

Thanks Danielle for sharing your lovely home with us. House was cute and welcoming. Beds were comfy. House was very conveniently located to Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park! Great hiking and whale watching. We had a great time with your family and really enjoyed the Upper Deck. Only suggestion would be mats in the tub and showers for us “old” folks! A few pictures in the living room would make it homier. Great trip and look forward to returning. Thanks again Danielle You were wonderful!

I stayed at the Chicadee’s Nest with my husband, two kids, and parents. The beds were very comfortable, and we appreciated the spaces to sit other than the living room. Slight downsides would be the fact that both full baths were upstairs and the stairs are steep with narrow treads, not very accessible if you have any mobility issues in your group. The dining space/table is very small. I can’t imagine fitting more than 6 people in it and 6 was really tight. Finally, the upstairs gets very warm during the heat of the day. We were able to cool it off considerably at night by opening lots of windows, and, as an upside, Danielle provided lots of fans for helping with airflow. Overall, though, we enjoyed our stay.

Chickadees Nest was a comfortable place for our family to return to after exploring Acadia. We cooked many of our own meals there and found the king sized beds to be very comfortable. It gets very warm upstairs on hot July days with no a/c but the owners provide many fans to help with that and to help cover the noise from the busy road in front of the house.

Chickadee's Nest is a quaint little cottage in Southwest Harbor. It's really convenient to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Plenty of cooking utensils in kitchen to make meals. Several good restaurants are nearby. One of our favorites was Charlotte's Legendary Lobster Pound. It's a great place for a family vacation!

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Chickadee's Nest. It was the PERFECT place to stay for our trip to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. The house has a great location on the quieter side of the island. It is close to hiking, downtown, restaurants, the lighthouse, marina, and more. The house itself was perfect for us and is even BETTER in person than the description and pictures show. It is ADORABLE! We felt like we were staying with our family...cozy, quaint, comfortable, and just right! We were able to VERY comfortably fit our family of 6...2 adults and 4 teenagers. There was space for everyone to not have to be on top of each other. The house actually has 2 King beds, 1 Queen bed, and a Twin daybed in the loft...so it is more like having 4 bedrooms instead of 3. It was very nice to have 2.5 bathrooms, too, especially with having four boys. Two of my kiddos have dietary restrictions so we knew we would be cooking all of our meals at home. Our host was VERY helpful with providing the additional spices and cooking pieces that we needed, without hesitation. The kitchen is pretty well stocked, too, which is a big plus. It was very helpful to have a washer and dryer, too. Everything you need is provided, even dishwasher pods, washing machine pods, toilet paper, napkins, coffee filters, and paper towels. We've stayed at several houses where we had to bring all of those consumable supplies. Our host went out of her way to make us feel welcome and to help us with our needs :)
