We found it a well-appointed, beautiful and spacious rental home located on Wakondah Pond. After many years of renting various homes, I have to say this was one of the best, well-supplied, clean homes in which we have stayed. While it was a bit chilly when we were there to use the supplied kayaks on the lake, it was a delight to know that they were available. If it had been Summer, we definitely would have used the decks and the lakeside chairs longer and more frequently. Each room had its own temperature-regulated system so we were all very comfortable throughout the house. The rental gave the feeling of being isolated, but we were actually only a few miles from the town of Meredith and some great restaurants, which we frequented every evening. We have visited this area before and have always found new hiking trails and places to visit every year.

We had a wonderful vacation at this lovely home. The view of the lake is so tranquil. We had the pond literally all to ourselves. It was a great base location to take in all the sights of the area. The house was well stocked and we wanted for nothing. I especially appreciated the grab bars in the bathrooms. While we did not go swimming we did enjoy kayaking and fishing (which was excellent, lots of bass and pickerel). Would highly recommend staying here.

This was our 3rd stay at the Wakondah Retreat. We love the house, the lake, the wildlife, and the nearby hikes, shopping, etc. The new AC (mini splits) are a great addition. We look forward to coming back next summer!

We had a mix of friends and family for the week, 8 adults in total. The home is well laid out providing lots of gathering/dining options and is well furnished. King beds in each bedroom was a nice treat. The view of the pond and Red Hill as a backdrop never got old. The pond was very quiet and often without any wind for the whole week. We saw a few kayakers each day, but that was about it, we pretty much we had the pond to ourselves. And the sounds of the loons each night was a special treat.Have both a dock and raft were nice amenities for fishing, swimming, sunbathing and stargazing. And if you like to fish you're guaranteed to catch something. The pond is filled with large and smallmouth base.Shanna was great to deal with. She was accommodating and responded quickly to questions. We've been renting summer lake houses in the Lakes Region for may years now, and this was one of our top experiences.

We had a fantastic time at the Wakondah Retreat! From booking to check-in to check-out everything was flawless. Great communication with host throughout the process. Our group ranged from 5-49 and everyone had a great time! We took advantage of everything this property offered! Kayaking everyday, enjoying the view, playing games and grilling! The area is surreal and picturesque! On our trip we saw humming birds, loons and even a Bald eagle stopped by. Amazing time!

This house was absolutely amazing. We had two families, the house was very clean and the four king beds were extremely comfortable. The amenities were more than enough. The real magic was the pond and it’s view. It was incredibly peaceful and a stone’s throw away from Lake Winnipesaukee. I much prefer visiting lake Winnipesaukee during the day and retiring back to the peace and calm of the house. The kayaks and paddle boat were used daily. The Weber grill was a great addition also. This place is an easy five stars. Thank you Shanna!!!

We've stayed at Wakondah Pond before and came back for all the right reasons - a spacious, well-appointed house with an incredible screened-in porch overlooking the pond, plenty of kayaks and of course the loons. The host is attentive and responsive and we couldn't have asked for an easier experience. We'll be back!

We had such a great time at this lake house last year that we had to come back…and I’m so glad we did! Ideal location, very clean, comfortable, and spacious for our family of 5. Private lakefront property with easy access to conveniences and adventures. We took full advantage of everything this place offers: beautiful views, kayaking, grilling/cooking family dinners, fishing, swimming, bird watching, and also as a base camp for some of our big adventure days (hiking in the white mountains and boating on lake Winni). The owner is easily reachable and has thought of everything. They’ve also made some nice improvements since we were last here. We’ll be back next summer!

We had a wonderful time , the house has a great “lake vibe”, it is very convenient to town and outdoor activities. It was oppressively hot (90+) when we were there so the upstairs ac units were running constantly and extremely appreciated. I would recommend a few ac units for the 1st floor/living area. All and all, great host with a wonderful property.

Our group of 5 celebrated a birthday and the 4th of July on Wakondah Pond. We enjoyed our stay very much. Pertinent info... - 4 comfortable king size beds, 3 medium mattresses and 1 firm - Pretty pond teeming with fish, frogs, fire flies and dragonflies, no gas motorboats allowed- so it is very quiet - Mosquitos near the lake at night, so be prepared. - Floating dock for jumping into the beautiful pond. - Pond is surrounded by mountains and very picturesque - Kitchen had all the kitchenware/appliances needed to prepare and serve meals to a large group - AC upstairs/ basement suite was naturally cool. Fans provided for 3 bedroom also. - Peaceful, screened-in porch - 3 bathrooms with showers (hot water for all) - Every area was clean. I am picky about clean, and I was very happy! - Responsive host and care-taker. Every question was answered promptly, I had no problems, but I am confident any problems would have been addressed quickly. In fact, I left a pair of eye glasses behind and Laura offered to mail them back to me the next day- no charge! - Short trip to grocery store (but go early, a lot of traffic later in the day) - 3 kayaks and a paddle boat, plus life jackets for a variety of sizes. - There is a steep-ish path from the house down to the lake, so be mindful of that if a member of your party has mobility issues. There is a bedroom and bathroom on the first floor (I am not sure if shower is accessible) and the screened-in porch is accessible on the first floor.

This year was our second stay here and already booked a third. A peaceful retreat in nature, this property is well maintained and well managed. The environment is perfect for some quiet time with friends and family. And the loons, what a bonus, what magic! Kayaks give you instant connection with the lake any time of day. Swimming is great. A real escape in the woods, but with conveniences. We had a few small issues on arrival but the property manager responded instantly and all was resolved quickly. The location is ideal for a week of solitude or eating out and adventuring. Or both! I highly recommend this property for a lovely time in the lakes district of NH.
