Fabulous stay

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house has great design and a superb garden, and is super quiet, all of which we loved. Also, the property management company was great, they communicated well and very quickly acted to resolve a couple of issues we reported. But I would not stay here again, nor recommend it to a friend. It's in desperate need of internal renovation. No matter how well cleaned, it looks and feels grubby and smells old. I don't know how old the bathrooms and kitchen are, but likely many decades. And the hill location means it's just possible to walk in/out of town, but there's no views and it loses evening light early. So, no real advantage in the near-Carmel location.

The house itself is beautiful and clean! The neighbors are a bit overwhelming rushing over to have us turn off the outside lights by 10 pm. If you are planning to go out at night plan on coming back to a pitch black house.

The night before Christmas Eve, a severe storm caused a power outage at the house, which left us without electricity for an extended period of time. As a result, the house became extremely cold, and we were unable to use basic amenities including heating, lighting, and the kitchen.Because of the outage, we were also unable to make the Christmas Eve breakfast we had planned and prepared for, which was especially disappointing given the holiday and the reason for our trip. The conditions made the home uncomfortable and difficult to stay in, particularly during such a cold night.I understand that storms and power outages are outside of your control. That said, the loss of essential utilities significantly impacted our stay, and given that this occurred on Christmas Eve, I am respectfully requesting a partial refund for the affected night(s).We wanted to communicate this directly and appreciate your consideration. The descriptions before we arrived were helpful and accurate and the communication with Sanctuary Rentals was very good. Dining and sitting areas were very cozy in which to relax and visit with friends. Though only just less than a mile from town, it is an up and down walk, but a delight to walk the streets and enjoy the forest...we even had two deer visit us on the street! If you do not want to be right in the middle of central Carmel, this is a wonderful, not to far away cottage.

We absolutely loved this property! Private and quiet, with beautiful views from every window! We spent all of our down time relaxing and enjoying the house and gardens. It was a wonderful place to come home to after exploring the CA coast each day!

The location was prefect for visiting local points of interest as well as walking into Carmel (about 1 mile), just be aware it is a steep grade on the way back so wear walking shoes.The Robert R Jones home was a delight to stay for the long weekend and we enjoyed sitting outside and soaking in the birdsong and lush gardens. There were four in our group and was the perfect size for us and we found everything we needed; beds were comfortable and kitchen is stocked for any cooking you may be doing.Two things we would have enjoyed would be a gas fireplace table outside, even during the day its a bit cool and we wouldve enjoyed it, and the bedroom and bathroom doors are in need of a little tlc as they are quite noisy to open and close.

The house is comfortable, with two bedrooms and bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and a spacious living area. The kitchen appointments, including adequate cooking vessels and dishes, were really nice, as many rentals tend to err on the side of not providing enough. I would recommend this place and would stay here again.One note that I shared with the property manager relates to the exterior lighting. The neighbors are quite strict about not having lights on, which makes it difficult when you return home in the evening and limits the use of the exterior space once it gets dark. The documents state that you can have the lights on until 9 PM, but the neighbor spoke to us almost immediately after we arrived about not turning the lights on at all.

The house is in a beautiful setting. The front and back patios are surrounded by big, beautiful trees and lush gardens. Perfect for a sisters trip! Our only issue was with the neighbor that does not like when lights are on (even inside the house) at night. We spent the rest of the trip living in the dark at night so as not to have another visit from him.

Wonderful MCM home. Great example of the MCM architecture and California style home. The home is nestled in historic Carmel By the Sea, with beautiful patios and well equipped kitchen. Easy access to town and to Highway 1 for day trips and sight seeing. The home is older but well maintained with most of the MCM features maintained while being updated.

It was clean, quiet and had all we needed as a jumping off point for shopping in Carmel, tidepooling in Asilomar, hiking at Point Lobos and going to great bakeries in Monterey. I’d definitely stay again.

We came to see the nature of the coast, so we were in and out the entire time. We didn't spend much time at the property during the day, but the evenings were peaceful. The house was very well stocked. Had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable. The house was clean. The gardens are beautiful, so many birds and hummingbirds. Thank you, we had a lovely time.
