LOCATION
Enjoy the privacy of this cottage as it is tucked back in a gated community with private Lake Michigan access only steps from your door. The home is located half way between Holland and Grand Haven with only a 20 minute drive to either location. Enjoy everything these Harbor Towns have to offer from boutique shopping to Farmer Markets to restaurants and ice cream shops. We also recommend the walk or drive to Sandy Point Beach House for out to eat dining or ice cream. The area offers antique shopping, art galleries, blueberry picking and the coastal towns of Saugatuck and Douglas are a short drive away and great to explore. Grand Rapids is about 45 minutes east and offers dining, breweries, and cultural offerings such as Meijer Gardens and many museums. There is numerous parks nearby that offer hiking and the biking trail is accessible on Lakeshore Dr. directly from the cottage. The bike trail extends from Holland to Grand Haven and beyond and exploring it has been a favorite pastime of our family.
Mislead on property description and beach being private. Cabin is very tiny and very old. Beach is extremely hard to access and the pictures are very misleading on the website. Would not recommend this property. The cabin smelled old and musty.
The photos really don't do the place justice. It has a wonderful view of the lake and beach. The inside of the cabin is surprisingly spacious. Initially the kitchen looks inadequate but there was enough there to cook all our meals for our 4 night stay. We actually had planned to go out to eat once but everyone preferred to stay in. It is a bit of a trek over the dunes down to the beach and the house wasn't the easiest to find if you've never been there, but afterwards you realize it's really impossible to get lost. The kids loved everything about it. They had fun at the beach. We had two windy days with big waves for surving/boogie boarding and two calm days that were good for the kayaks.
Fantastic location. Simple cottage that was very clean and excellent toys left for us to use (kayaks, beach chairs, toys, etc). The cottage is simple yet updated ( really like the shower). I would stay here again...but with less people.
Full beach side cabin experience with a beautiful view. Host has thought of everything for fun on the beach and in the cottage.
Highly recommend! A lovely spot on the lake with dunes and a nice beach. The cottage is cozy and has everything you need.
Could not ask for a better family getaway spot. It left us all wishing we had another night and planning our return.
Great location right on Lake Michigan, with nothing between the cottage and the lake but sand dunes. We had an excellent stay and appreciated being able to rent this property for four days through VRBO.
We had a wonderful experience at the property! Everything was as advertised, and we were impressed by cleanliness, responsiveness of host and all that was provided to us in terms of beach accessories, kayak usage, etc. The walk to the beach over a couple of dunes was not easy for the adults but the mostly private beach and great view after the effort was well worth it. No central air was not an issue given fans in every room. Sunset view was amazing. We would stay here again.
We had a great time at this home - it was perfect for a family trip. We loved swimming on the nearly empty beach and still being close enough to town to grab a nice dinner. We’d definitely consider staying here again!
We overall loved our stay. The biggest pro of this property is its proximity to the water. It's really unreal. The sunsets are beautiful, the beach is huge and often practically deserted. Our kids had the time of their lives just splashing around and building sand castles. The cottage was rustic, but clean and we'll appointed. When you first check in in the early evening you will think there is no way this place gets cool enough to sleep comfortably but it does. It comes with everything you need to enjoy the beach-- Beach chairs, toys, umbrellas. The walk over the dunes to get to the water is fine-- I did it multiple times a day 30 weeks pregnant. There is one noteworthy con I wanted to point out. This cottage is about 1 mile from a coal power plant. You can't really see it but you can hear it. It's intermittent-- we heard it half the days we were there (it wasn't on on Sunday and 2 days it was extremely windy so we didn't hear it). When it's on, it's on all day and we found it very distracting. It's audible, but not loud, in the cottage or at the beach. At the Adirondack chairs it's quite loud-- it's a whirring mechanical sound, kind of like a white noise machine or fan. Something to note if you are sensitive to noise.
