Step out back and the Pelican Bay community pool is right there — an easy splash before or after beach hours. From there, a private community path leads to the sand in under two minutes — and not just any stretch of beach. This is where the island bends, forming a wide, sweeping point with surf on two sides. It's the kind of spot locals know about and guestsrarely forget.

The home itself strikes a rare balance: the footprint of a proper beach house with the soul of a Lowcountry cottage. A long, deep front porch — a nod to the historic homes of Charleston, just 15 miles up the road — sets the tone before you even walk in. Inside, shiplap walls, soft coastal colors, and thoughtfully chosen furnishings channel the classic Sullivan's Island cottages of the 1800s, updated with every modern comfort you'd actually want on vacation.

The kitchen is built for real cooking — granite counters, stainless appliances, a Keurig for slow mornings, and room to spread out when it's time to pull together a Lowcountry boil. Dining for six flows into two counter stools, and the screened porch adds another six seats plus a bistro table for two, so meals can move wherever the breeze is best. Fire up the gas grill on the back deck, pour something cold, and settle in.

When the day winds down, four bedrooms are ready with new memory foam mattresses. The main-floor primary suite has a king bed, a flat-screen TV, and an ensuite bath with both a walk-in shower and a jetted soaking tub. At the end of Lagoon Road, a public fishing dock offers a low-key way to spend a morning.

- Beach chairs/toys are not included at this property. All reservations between 4-28 nights come with a $250 beach gear credit with VaykGear.com. Guests will be able to reserve gear after booking.
- The Pelican Bay pool is open May-September and guests will need a pool pass. The pool is not heated.
- Unfortunately, pets and ESAs are not allowed in this home. If undisclosed animals are brought into the home without AvantStay's approval, there is a fine of $500 per pet.
- Fireplaces are not for guest use.
- Trailers and motorcycles are not allowed inside Wild Dunes.
- Guests have access to the Pelican Bay pool, and to the cafes and restaurants at Wild Dunes. Any other amenities or recreation at Wild Dunes, including golf, tennis or the spa, must be booked separately.
- Please note that due to natural coastal conditions, beach areas may experience periodic erosion that can affect shoreline size and accessibility. During periods of high tide, portions of the beach—or the entire beach—may be temporarily inaccessible. We are not able to guarantee identical beach conditions for future stays, and refunds or relocations will not be available due to these natural changes.
- While we do our best to communicate any known work within Wild Dunes or nearby beach projects, many homes are privately owned and we are not always notified of surrounding activity. As a result, we are unable to guarantee a disruption-free environment or offer relocation for any unforeseen construction.

    This is a very comfortable house. Some places show a little age and the grill could use an upgrade, but overall great stay! Would definitely stay again!

    Our family had a wonderful time at IOP! The best part was cooking in the well appointed kitchen. The location was great, a very short walk to the beach. The only minor issue is comfort of bed upstairs and dated bathroom. Ping pong did not work. But the property overall is lovely and we enjoyed our stay.

    Enjoyed this property - particularly enjoyed preparing meals in the beautiful kitchen. Loved having the extra beverage refrigerator. The screened in porch was our meeting place in the morning for coffee. Used the grill multiple nights. Loved having the pool around the corner and just a short walk to the beach. When we arrived there were no ping pong balls and there was no corn hole set (as seen in pictures), but I contacted property management and they brought both. Relaxing week! Recommend this property!

    We had a wonderful week on Isle of Palms in Dunes West and this house completely met our needs. The house was spotless when we arrived! The kitchen was well stocked with supplies and equipment including baking pans which was helpful since we celebrated several family birthdays while at the beach together. The screened porch (with ceiling fan) and back deck (with grill) got a LOT of use. It was fun to look at the turtles in the small pond behind the house. We were close to the community pool but were never bothered by noise from it. It was an easy walk to the beach access. The house is on a cul-de-sac which was perfect for the kids to ride their bikes and play safely. We had a wonderful vacation!
