The Gnome Home is one of the most recent additions to our small, private salt water community of rentals. It is located in a neighborhood called Agnew, which is half way between Sequim and Port Angeles, on the North Olympic Peninsula. Our location is very unique as we are one of very few properties having private access to the salt water beach. It is set apart and secluded by being found at the end of the county road where traffic stops and the deer, eagles and other wildlife choose to make their home within the special area bordered by the fields of the farm, the creek and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
The Gnome Home along with its tiny twin next door, the Fawn House, is the smallest of our rental choices. It is privately set back against a woodland lot having a winding nature trail through it leading to the unique, although challenging for some, spectacular beach trail, a five minute hike down through the wildlife habitat area which is a steep gulley along our section of the magical McDonnell Creek. The creek ends its journey from the top of the Olympic Mountains by forming a quiet lagoon at the base of the beach trail which is a wonderful wildlife spotting site for viewing playful river otter, fish and birds like the kingfishers and eagles. From there the lagoon spills on to the rocky salt water beach strewn with logs and driftwood where you can hike along the mostly uninhabited beach toward the world famous Dungeness Spit as you watch the ships pass through the shipping lanes between the U.S.A. and Canada.
We offer other easier walking nature trails to explore as well, where you may want to sit and rest or watch the evening sunset and spectacular view.
The Gnome Home sleeps two comfortably in the queen size bedroom and two more in the double size sleeper/sofa in the main living area. There is one bathroom with a shower, having a skylight overhead. The small laundry set, a full size refrigerator, propane stove and microwave oven all add to your convenient stay. An electric fireplace provides some cozy ambiance while you relax in the living room and watch basic cable T.V. or find entertainment with WIFI.
It is fully equipped with dishes, glassware, pots, pans, utensils plus towels, blankets, pillows and linens.
It is a twenty minute drive into either of the nearby towns, both of which have several choices for grocery shopping, restaurants and gift shops.
For quick items or great wine choices, you would want to visit the nearby, neighborhood Agnew Grocery & Feed which has many other fun things to offer including farm animal viewing. The Olympic Discovery Trail is a mile away where you could ride a bike into either of the two towns and beyond on what used to be the old railroad line.
The Olympic National Park is a close drive from Port Angeles, up the mountain to famous Hurricane Ridge. There are so many other special sites and hikes to see as well on the North Olympic Peninsula. When you are ready to venture out, many of the places you will want to visit such as the beautiful, clear blue Lake Crescent and the Sol Duc Hot Springs are within about an hour’s drive away. Even the temperate Hoh Rain Forest and Pacific Ocean beaches can be reached and enjoyed during a day’s trip from the cozy Gnome Home you will return to in the evening after your fantastic day long outing.

I really enjoyed staying at The Gnome Home. It was very peaceful and relaxing after long days spent hiking. The beach trail is amazing and we even received some deer visitors in our front yard. The home was clean and all amenities were provided. Would love to stay again sometime!

The beach trail and access was fabulous! It's a wild, windy beach; note that the water is too cold to swim in! But what a view and such a nice beach to walk along! There's an outlook with an incredible view from the cliffs above the beach. Lots of bald eagles. The home itself was comfy and very, very clean. Bed was super comfy and a plethora of bed linens were provided. My son had fun finding gnomes hiding throughout the Gnome home. I heartily recommend this home!

Great stay with a far better than average check in and check out experience. Host was responsive when I contacted before the trip, and the house was secluded near the back of the neighborhood. The only small gripes we had were that the mattress was a little too firm and the shower situation. I’m an average build for a six foot male, and the shower was a bit of a tight squeeze. The hot water is only good for about 10 minutes, which isn’t that big of a deal unless you’re home late and both people visiting need to shower. Obviously there’s only so many things you can do with a mobile home of that size, but it was made up for by the excellent access you have to a gorgeous horizon view of Canada from the beach and general location of the house, giving us easy access to Port Angeles. Really enjoyed our visit to Washington as people from Texas, and we got to see several deer as well as a bald eagle in the neighborhood.

We loved how close the Gnome house was to several nature trails. One took us down to a beautiful private beach, not far from the Dungeness Spit. What a special surprise. We took advantage of the trails everyday. We liked the local deer and birds, who wandered near the house, and especially the chipmunks. They dug holes by the back window and entertained us during our down time. The main bed was very comfy. The sofa bed wasn’t, but we figured something out which helped. The hallway near the bathroom was pretty tight, but we appreciated the washer and dryer, and having a lot of windows and blinds to close, when needed. The kitchen was workable for a few meals. We liked the rural location. So quiet.., exactly what we wanted. Our day to Port Townsend was an easy drive from the Gnome House, and a pleasant little port town. Thank you Marjorie for booking us last minute, and replying quickly when needed. Very nice small community.

Location is amazing, quiet and neat residential area with access to gorgeous beaches and nature walks. It was so lovely to have as a home base for exploring Olympic National Park (about 30 minute drive to closest entrance and a couple of hours to other entrances.) Small home, but well organized with all the things you need in a vacation home like stove, normal size fridge / freezer, shower / toilet. Washer / dryer a huge plus. Bed was very comfortable, plenty of clean linens and towels. Wi fi was fast and check in / out was smooth. Owner is responsive and lives close by. Property is exactly as advertised and met our expectations. I would definitely return!

Views at the beach were amazing! Even seen a mama deer and baby while sitting on the couch. Would stay here again if ever back in this area. Thank you!!!!

Wow what a fantastic time we had. The Gnome Home was just perfect for the 2 of us! Centrally located for our hiking experience – Nestled in a great back private area of the park- surrounded by sweet deer and beautiful farm properties. The Gnome Home has all of the essentials for an evening of cooking, card gaming, tv watching or just relaxing after a satisfying day of hiking. The private trail down to the beach was a great start to our mornings—about ¼ mile down, it’s steep in parts, but has great steps and railings and walking sticks available to assist. If you’re a hiker/trailer- it’s a breeze. While we were very happy with all of the accommodations the Gnome Home has to offer, our absolute favorite was sitting on the porch, both morning and evening, enjoying the activity happening in the Eagle’s Nest- literally just yards away!! New flyers, and feedings were an amazing sight. Bring binoculars for all of the wildlife. Can’t wait to go back!!

This location is magical! The Gnome Home itself was adorable and perfect for two people! The couch in the living room turned easily into a bed. Everything was neat and clean and comfortable! The surrounding area is absolutely stunning! There are many area nature trails and lookouts. You can see them marked with wooden signs. We saw many deer (some right outside the Gnome Home), eagles, and banana slugs! The beach trail is beautiful, although a bit more adventurous! There are many stairs and a small winding path down to the beach. The view is so worth it though! I would most definitely stay here again!!

Absolutely loved the location. It was so quiet. The trail to the beach was a nice quick walk through the woods. I would have loved to spend more time on the property. But the Olympic peninsula has so many things to offer

There were a few issues but nothing that really ruined our stay. Internet was out but the host notified us immediately, then their was an issue with the water but with 20 min of reporting it host was on site to address. The hike down to the beach was gorgeous even in the rain, but it is not an easy path.

Beautiful view of the ocean right out the front window; deer in the front yard. When we arrived, the host moved us to a bigger house with no charge, as there was going to be tree removal work at our original booking. Adorable decor, plenty of everything you’d need - towels, dishes, cookware. Just amazing!!
