A black-and-white color scheme with bronze accents gives the Poe Room an urban sensibility touched with a mid-century chic. It's perfect for those who dream by day.

Located on the second floor and is mall-facing, this artistically designed room is situated in Townsman Hotel. It is unlike your typical hotel. That's why we call it the 'unhotel'. Poised just above or in the middle of Charlottesville's bustling and historical Downtown Mall or the walking mall packed with restaurants, bars, shops, and more. It is in between Mudhouse Coffee and Rockfish Brewing Company, with no staff and no front desk, which feels like a well-kept secret right in the center of all the action. Once you book with us, a personal code will be provided for access and all you have to do is show up. No check-in. No hassles.

Explore the greater Charlottesville area and discover some of the best places to dine, shop, relax, and do a variety of activities such as hiking, biking, shopping, enchanting night life, and navigating through historical sites such as Thomas Jefferson's home of Monticello and the well-known Rotunda, all right below your feet. Start your day with breakfast at The Nook, enjoy wine tastings at local vineyards, and dine at The Alley Light with options for post-dinner drinks or dancing. You may also grab coffee and a workout before relaxing at Halo Salt Spa, enjoy lunch at Citizen Burger Bar, take a self-guided brewery tour, and wrap up with dinner at the Dairy Market and a nightcap at Miller's.

Parking off-site - 1 designated spot (within a 3minute walk)

This was such a nice place to stay! I haven’t slept so well in a hotel prob ever! Very comfortable and clean. I loathe a barn door on a bathroom but I get the aesthetic they were going for. There were a lot of unhoused people right in front of the building all day and night but they aren’t going to bother anyone. Had a wonderful stay!

Great location; room was comfortable and had everything I needed; parking nearby in dedicated space which was much appreciated during the busy festival; easy building and room access; steps away from Mud House for morning coffee and from other interesting restaurants and shops

This was perfect for our long weekend in Charlottesville. We enjoyed Monticello and various wineries. Had a wonderful meal at Public Fish and Oyster. Also visit Crush Pad, nearly across the street from the room.
