Wish Willy Getaway Cabana

Julie and Gary are lovely people, very welcoming and friendly. They are full of local knowledge and go the extra mile to make your stay memorable. We had a wonderful time and would visit again in a heartbeat!

I got a little turned around, and called Julie. She talked me through getting to her place. She even scheduled your for me.

Julie & Gary made me feel like a member of the family; Ready to aid if/when I needed. Had suggestions for a variety of activities or restaurants. (For me) walking distance to downtown and neighboring San Ignacio (15-20 min walk)Plus benefit to taste some of Julie’s Zucchini’s salsa!!!

Our stay was wonderful at Wish Willy! Julie and Gary are excellent hosts taking care of any needs! The location is fabulous with a quick walk to town where there are lots of food options. We had pickups directly from Wish Willy for tours.

Julie and Gary were absolutely fabulous! Their communication in the weeks leading up to arrival was phenomenal. They greeted me with a warm welcome and were extremely helpful in area familiarization. Their cabanas are beautiful and clean and provide the best view in the city. I would stay there again in a heartbeat and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone!

Really great place. Awesome views of the river and surrounding nature (birds, iguanas, etc). Walking distance to both towns. Don't forget to get some salsa.

Great location and sweet spot

Julie and Gary are fantastic hosts. They arranged tours for us in advance of our stay and recommended all the best restaurants and experiences. Location is a quick 10-15 minute walk to San Ignacio.

Julie and Gary are amazing hosts. Their place is so wonderful, secluded and accommodating. We had a cute little efficiency with everything we needed. Probably the best part of staying here is the hosts Julie and Gary and their amazing deck high above the river. They were great about pointing out things they knew we were interested in such as birds and other wildlife. Julie gave us a tour of town and offered suggestions for restaurants and good attractions and activities. The places we ate at her suggestion were really good. We did the Raptor Center as well and thoroughly enjoyed that. The place is wonderful, the hosts are incredibly likable and helpful and the deck at their compound is amazing. Hated to leave. Would definitely come back here.

Gary and Julie are wonderful hosts and even set up a dinner at a nearby restaurant for all the guests (nine of us) who were staying at Wish Willy (which, by the way, is a kind of lizard). The view of the river and the jungle around it may be misleading--it's an easy walk into San Ignacio (across the bridge) to restaurants, the market, and the bus station. We recommend room number one--very spacious with its own deck. Other rooms are pretty small for two people but would work great for one. Julie will set up tours and trips and bus transport is easy to access. The whole place is clean in very informal.
