Stayed Aug 10, 2020The schoolhouse was absolute perfection and so unbelievably charming! We spent most of our time alternating between the two porches, just enjoying the relaxing outdoor space. Callie keeps the schoolhouse pristinely clean, which offered great peace of mind as we visited during the pandemic. I reached out to Callie a few times before, during and after our stay, and she was always so pleasant and quick to respond. We thoroughly enjoyed the Dahlonega community, even though we barely cared to leave the schoolhouse! ❤️ Lots of great outdoor space and fun local activities. Visited the Consolidated Gold Mine and went tubing in the Chestatee River, both a great time! I would recommend everyone book some time at this gorgeous place. We can’t wait to go back :) P.S. I read some reviews mentioning the couch being uncomfortable. I see why people may feel that way since it’s more “firm,” but I honestly wouldn’t describe it as uncomfortable. I curled up with a blanket for a movie, and I was perfectly comfortable! I think it would only stand out to someone who prefers a squishier couch; so it’s really just a preference thing :)

Stayed Apr 18, 2026Probably one of the best VRBO rentals we've stayed at in a while. The location was perfect for everything. Close to Dahlonega, wineries, great restaurants, kayaking and more. The rental itself was very clean, especially for a pet friendly place. I was very impressed. Callie provided everything you need and then some. She was also very quick to answer questions and super nice. Overall I can't say anything bad about our experience. We really enjoyed it there.

Stayed Apr 10, 2026Absolutely one of the most gorgeous homes we have stayed in. Pictures do not do it justice. Perfect for our family of 3 and convenient to everything we were doing in Dahlonega. Absolutely stunning decor and host really thought of all the smallest details. Super comfortable beds with luxury linens. Highly recommend to anyone and certainly would love to stay again.

Stayed Mar 29, 2026My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Historical Schoolhouse. Callie was very communicative with us even letting us know before arrival that there was an internet issue in the area. She continued to stay in contact and give us updates as she received. I had a couple of questions that Callie answered quickly. The schoolhouse was warm and inviting as soon we stepped in the front door. The little extra touches throughout made it feel like a home away from home. Although we didn’t bring our dog with us, I loved how dog friendly the schoolhouse was. I already know that if we have another stay in Dahlonega, I’m checking the Schoolhouse first to see if it is available!

Stayed Nov 26, 2025We can’t say enough great things about this house and the host. Callie’s attention to detail is outstanding, she responded immediately to questions, and even filled a dog bowl with water for our arrival! The beds were extra comfy, everything in the house is new and high end- great showers, fully stocked kitchen, great seating with 3 fully separate porches (2 are screened), easy to use gas fire pit with a beautifully lit yard- even a swing in the yard which our kids loved. The driveway and road were easy and not steep or curvy. Great neighborhood to walk the dog. Close to stores and hiking/waterfalls, only 30 min from Helen which is fun. The house was just so aesthetically pleasing that it made the trip feel luxurious. We couldn’t stop taking pictures for decorating ideas. If I could have Callie decorate our house…! Thank you for making our Thanksgiving dinner and trip so special Callie! This is not just your average house rental!

Stayed Nov 6, 2025I don’t know where to start, everything was so nice. Clean, best quality sheets and towels, extremely well stocked kitchen. It was like we had walked into our own home, just bring a Change of clothes and something to eat. The pictures do not do this place justice. Fire pit super easy to light, outdoor lighting brought a fairytale atmosphere, 2 porches with lots of comfy seating. The owner has managed to capture and maintain the beauty of an old building with rich history, yet make it super cozy and comfy. HIGHLY recommend! Will definitely be back. Thank you for making our getaway so wonderful!

Stayed Sep 24, 2025This place was just so...just so immaculate, just so well provisioned, just so convenient! In fact, it was just so pet friendly, we didnt need to unpack our dog bowls! Dahlonega is a wonderful town to visit, also pet friendly. But mostly, this beautiful cabin in the woods seems miles and miles away from whatever worries you! Stay a night, stay a week, but stay here if you're in the area! Just so you know what we now know!

Stayed Sep 7, 2025The description of this little cottage was perfect - it was extremely charming! Callie was the ultimate host, providing all the amenities we needed & more. And the fact that the cottage was pet-friendly was an added benefit. I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of previous pets being there, but we literally could not tell there have ever been other animals in the house. It was spotless. I highly recommend this cottage for a stay...squeaky floorboards & all! (They just added to the charm!)

You'll find that she provided everything you might need to ensure that you are comfortable and feel at home. The home is charming and warm and comfortable and located approximately 12 minutes from all the major areas you want to visit in the downtown. One of the best and most enjoyable stays I've had in after dozens of rentals.

Callie thinks of everything from multiple wine and champs glasses to bathroom products that you might have forgotten. I spent at least 2 hrs everyday on the master balcony porch swing. The bed was so comfy and the linens we the best. We saw deer, fireflies and owls! The most perfect relaxing spot! Callie was very responsive to the few questions we had. Can’t wait for our next stay there.

Stayed May 22, 2025Having family history in the Dahlonega area, the Schoolhouse Cottage was the perfect choice for us. Callie's attention to detail and her respect of history are such a part of the cottage from the beautiful decor to the books documenting the history of education as well as life in the mountains. I found pictures of my father as a young teacher in her book on schoolhouses and pictures of my grandfather as a long-time educator. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and the Schoolhouse is our top choice when we return to Dahlonega.

Stayed Nov 12, 2024This was a girls trip, just two of us. My friend always wanted to stay here, finally got the opportunity to… and it was great! The only negative comment that we can give is, if you stay in the front bedroom, be prepared for a 6 AM wake up with the garbage truck (Friday morning for us)….not good! Such a sweet retreat, thank you!

Stayed Aug 15, 2024This place is easily one of the best vacation homes I've ever stayed in. It is absolutely adorable and you can tell the minute you walk in that the owners love it. The kitchen is so well stocked. It was spotless. Communication was great. It's private and has a serene peaceful feeling. We spent a lot of time on the back porch watching the hummingbirds and deer. It's close to several vineyards, Cleveland, and downtown Dahlonega. I can't imagine staying anywhere else when I need a getaway weekend.
