The kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed to prepare a scrumptious meal including electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave.

The romantic first floor bedroom has a wall of windows to take in the stunning view, snuggle in the bed and watch the stars twinkling above the water below. Soak away the stresses of the day in the brass bath whilst enjoying a glass of bubbly. There is an en-suite shower room with luxury shower.

All gas, electric, bed linen and towels included. There is free off street parking in the car park opposite which also provides EV charging and a secure bike shed. A private patio area has table and chairs to take in the spectacular view and shared use of the landscaped gardens and jetty.

If you wish to arrange your own activities such as swimming, fishing, canoeing, paddle boarding or boating you must first obtain a permit from Talkin Tarn Country Park authority either online or from the boathouse at the tarn.

Nestled in an area of natural beauty, with uninterrupted views over the tarn, the 12 cottages have been developed from the former Tarn End Hotel to provide luxurious accommodation in a tranquil setting.

Talkin Tarn nestles 9 miles East of Carlisle and 2 miles south of Brampton where there are shops, bars and restaurants. The footpath from your door leads to the village of Talkin, relax with a local ale and meal in the village inn. Wander down to The Boathouse Cafe and Gift Shop, enjoy a coffee and lunch al fresco overlooking the tarn or hire a rowing boat, try your hand at stand up paddle boarding, kayaking or archery. If you prefer a more laid back activity a stroll around the 1.3 mile tarn takes you through the mature woodland, you can fish to your hearts content (subject to licence) from the shores of the tarn or enjoy a round of golf, the course literally overlooks the cottages. Further afield there are numerous historical sites within a short drive including Lanercost Priory and Tea Rooms, Hadrian's Wall and Carlisle Castle. Situated a short drive from the A69 both Carlisle and Newcastle are easily accessible and the shores of Lake Ullswater are just over an hours drive away.

This was our second visit and it was everything we were expecting. Extremely well appointed accommodation. Very well equipped and in beautiful surroundings. For a relaxing break it is hard to beat. Plenty of walks if the weather is kind. Good food and drink at the pubs in Castle Carrock and Talkin, plus the golf club which welcomes visitors, or the cafe at the end of the tarn. Highly recommended

My wife and I had a lovely stay, we'd just got back from our honeymoon so it was lovely to have a few more nights away closer to home before heading back to normality. We'd walked past the cottages a lot being silly local sonic was lovely to stay there. The cottage gave us a brilliant sense of relax and unwind. It was the perfect size for the 2 of us and the view of the tarn was stunning. Everything was provided towels, utensils, even some coffee. The perfect stay.

What a beautiful property. Tastefully decorated and furnished to such a high standard. We were blown away with everything this place had to offer and with such an amazing outlook over the tarn. We will return and recommend this place as a destination for friends and family.

We had a wonderful Xmas week here. The furnishings and fittings are of the highest quality. The view of the tarn through the huge picture windows was a delight to wake up to each morning. We didn't venture far but did make it to Brampton and Carlisle, both very close by. Really good accommodation which I would recommend most highly.
