Sugar Shack - Luxury Farmhouse Style Cottage in the heart of Downtown Franklin

I wish I could give this place a 10 out of 5 star rating. This was the coolest house. Solidly built in late 1800s for railroad workers but very modernly updated. The host’s southern hospitality was OUTSTANDING and is 2nd to none. My only regret is that we could not have stated longer. The only minor issue (and it was my fault) was we drove past the driveway and had to turn around. Just note when following GPS directions the driveway is 10-20 FEET. Past the metal rails of the railroad tracks.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Sugar Shack! It was cozy and comfortable and equipped with everything we could possibly need. It was walking distance to all of the wonderful shops and restaurants in Downtown Franklin, yet felt secluded. The weather turned cold while we were there so we made good use of the outdoor firepit and the wonderful fireplace inside, which added to the coziness! The photos on the app grabbed me, but the real thing was even better! I can't wait for our next stay!!

The house was a very peaceful, cozy place to stay. Loved the walking distance to downtown. Also loved learning about the history of the house. It was all special. And having an assortment of pastries and cheeses to greet you was extra special. I hope you get to come here again.

Very nice cottage. Lots of amenities like fresh flowers, fresh fruit, croissants, wine, beautiful decks and grounds. Thoughtful decorations and a well done remodel. Very comfortable and quiet. Hard to believe you were just a few minute walk to downtown. We definitely will come back.

Harrison is so friendly and helpful. And what a lovely home in which to land, while in Franklin! I love the decour, the cozy living room and fireplace (perfect on a rainy or winter day). Well-equipped kitchen. I hope to be back!

As always, Harrison made our stay at the Sugar Shack incredible in every way. My wife considers this place our home away from home and this was our third visit. The Shack was super clean as always and every amenity we could need was provided for. I cannot recommend this place enough for a couple's getaway and the convenience of being right outside of downtown Franklin is such a benefit!

Third time staying there, gets better every time!

The Sugar Shag is a beauty and so private thanks to the huge Emerald Arborvitae planted around the property. The kitchen was stocked with a wonderful wine and charcuterie board to welcome weary travelers and freshly baked cherry and fig bread for breakfast. The Sugar Shack is a grown up fairy tale cottage fulfilling every need possible for your stay in the sweet hamlet of Franklin.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sugar Shack. It is a little hard to find, especially in the dark but we called & Harrison answered and helped us to find it. We were actually right by the driveway! We are very particular about cleanliness & it was very clean!! Harrison went above and beyond with hospitality by leaving quite an expansive charcuterie board, wine, scones & bread. We couldn't eat it all but it was quite impressive and appreciated. It was very close to town & we enjoyed walking and not having to worry about finding parking. We would definitely stay again!

This is our 4th time staying at Sugar Shack, so clearly we like it . It is cozy, quaint and has all the comforts of being at home. Harrison is a terrific host. Close to town but private too. Also, lovely during the holidays..with subtle but beautiful decorations. A true gem. Most assured we will be back.

The Sugar Shack is true luxury. It is the home I've always dreamt of, a beautifully curated space. Thank you for letting me experience it. A cozy, comfortable and well-appointed retreat. I had 3 very busy days attending multiple wedding related events, and was able to come home each evening to this beautiful space allowing me to unwind in relaxed comfort. I arrived to some unexpected touches that simply made my day. I will be back!

The Sugar Shack is a wonderful VRBO within walking distance of downtown Franklin. We appreciated all of Harrison’s thoughtful details and the house is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. We look forward to a return trip in the future.

The cottage was very clean and the AC heat was great. I didn’t turn the fireplace on but it was so charming it wasn’t needed. The design of the cottage, the antique furniture, view of the garden with outdoor firepit, a swinging bed on the porch, beveled glass panels, and claw foot tub was great. Loved the ingredients for a charcuterie board when we arrived with wine and chocolate! So thoughtful!

Our experience at the Sugar Shack was everything we hoped for and more! From making the reservation to Harrison’s communication to arriving at the charming cottage tucked back into a beautiful neighborhood garden, it truly was the start of a fabulous weekend in quaint downtown Franklin, TN. We were greeted with wine, fresh flowers, snacks, bakery croissants and a magnificent charcuterie board in the fridge! The kitchen was very well-appointed, the bedding and linens were cozy and comfortable, the Master bath was updated and clean, and the easy-on fireplace in the living area was perfect after returning from our day-long excursions. The owner has a tremendous eye for detail. At every glance, at every turn, the vintage keepsakes and French-county furniture and decor were perfectly placed to dazzle the eye and tug at your heart. We’ll be back!

Beautiful ambiance, clean, and decorated with taste and attention to period and history. Classy. Also, host provided amenities above and beyond what most do: wine, cheese and crackers, breakfast breads, and much more. An absolute delight.

The Sugar Shack was the perfect place to stay while visiting Franklin & Nashville. It’s conveniently located in walking distance to amazing shops and restaurants in the downtown Franklin area. Harrison also goes above and beyond by providing snacks and other goodies for you to enjoy during your stay. It was truly one of the best long weekend vacations for my husband and I!

We have stayed multiple times which just goes to show how much we enjoy. The home is cozy, comfortable and has everything you need. Harrison & Peggy are also incredibly warm and welcoming. We already have another visit planned!

True southern hospitality! Felt welcome the moment we walked in with fresh chocolate croissants,, a persoanlized note, a bottle of wine and fresh grapes, cheese and crackers in the fridge.Beyond darling place, loved sitting on the swing with my coffee in the morning listening to the garden. the wild rabbit made an appearance. Fantastic air conditioning! Every attention to detail was charming and full of love.The only challenge we had was we needed some larger drinking and wine glasses and much more wash cloths. Pillows could be larger and a variety of firmness and we struggled a little bit with sleeping The train does come by every morning bright and early, since it is literally right next to the tracks. We needed a fan to drown out the silence and although one is there is is not exactly working well and created more noise then a soothing sound. Overall would book again and enjoyed the location.

The home is fantastic. Check-in was very easy using the lock box. The host did an amazing job of making us feel welcome. The kitchen is well equipped, and very updated. Location was great. It exceeded our expectations!

Had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary at the Sugar Shack in Franklin. We enjoyed our morning walks to downtown Franklin and getting a coffee and/or breakfast. Then we would walk the nearby Chestnut Trail. The Sugar Shack provided everything you could want and more. Loved the decor and we felt right at home. Thank you!

This is the most charming cottage we’ve ever experienced! Everything was perfect…the location, comfort, quality of the furnishings, linens, coffee makers, etc.. We felt so welcomed! Harrison has the gift of hospitality and uses it to bless others. We can’t wait to return!

Me and my husband came for the weekend for a wedding. I'm so happy that we stayed at the Sugar Shack...this cottage is perfection in every way. The gardens around the cottage, the cleanliness inside and out, the art work, a snack platter from the hostess, the location, every detail is touched....just beautiful. Easy walking distance (with sidewalks) to downtown Franklin. So many restaurants and shops close by. If you get the chance to stay here, do it. You will love it!

When you walk into the cottage, you immediately feel welcome. The cottage is beautiful and the porches and the property grounds are wonderful. We loved the location and being able to walk to downtown Franklin. Communication with Harrison was excellent. We will recommend this cottage to our friends and family!

Everything was magnificent! The check in/out was simple. The property was exactly as described but with a handful of thoughtful personal touches. The proximity to downtown Franklin was an easy 6 minute walk down a single street. The location was quiet and private. We appreciate borrowing your property for a long weekend!

I just love this house. I came here to hide out and work on a writing project and it was just what I needed. I loved seeing the train go by the kitchen window in the morning and spent my days on the porch and my nights in front of the fire. With Harrison's gorgeous paintings everywhere, this house is straight out of a magazine. I'll surely be back next time I'm in the region.

Stayed three days and really enjoyed the cottage. Furnished with eclectic and quirky items that give the cottage a cozy feel. Watch your head on the candelabra as you step out of the bath. Kitchen was really well stocked with tasty items for us to enjoy.

This was the most comfortable VRBO we’ve experienced. Harrison provided cheese/fruit/cake and other “necessities” so we needed nothing! It turned cold while we were there so the fireplace was perfect for when we returned from walking downtown! Perfect! Just perfect!

The sugar shack was amazing. The owners make you feel like you have just come home. Fresh pumpkin bread , wine , cheese and fruit were waiting on us to enjoy for our stay. Lots of attention to detail from these hosts!!

Harrison (the owner) was incredibly awesome at communication, as well as setting the place up for a great visit (temperature set perfect, lights on, beautiful linens, wine, charcuterie board, coffee/tea/cream/sugar, and banana bread ). It was charming, lovely and perfectly located. Couldn’t have asked for a nicer visit.

The cottage is immaculate, design details are exquisite and bring total relaxation from the moment you walk in the door. Excellent experience from booking through check-out, everything you could possibly need is stocked and ready throughout every room. Proximity to Main St is walkable even after dark, and railroad traffic was only once a day during our stay and added to the Franklin experience.

We have stayed in many many vrbo’s but none quite line this one. The moment you enter you feel at ease, every little detail has been thought of including a beautiful welcome bottle of wine, cheese & meat platter and a few baked goods. The home is warm and inviting, and everything it looks in the pictures, maybe better! We cannot wait to stay here again soo !

The Sugar Shack is one of my favorite places on earth: it's a walkable distance from anything in downtown Franklin (a beautiful town), it's cozy, the garden is beautiful, and the espresso machine makes it feel like a 5-star hotel...but more welcoming. Harrison is a welcoming and kind host in the thoughtful preparation she sets out for guests, and every time we've stayed here, we've felt like we've just arrived at a caring relative's house on a special occasion. It certainly doesn't hurt that it's excellently-located for Nashville: a straight shot out of downtown takes you to the interstate, from which point it's a quick trip to the city itself. And the house is _just_ far enough outside of Nashville (being down in Franklin) to feel like a respite away from the noise when you want to rest. I really can't say enough good things about this place. It's wonderful.

Can’t say enough about Sugar Shack! From the moment we walked in we were greeted with wine, cheese and other snacks and just the most relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. The outdoors is as beautiful as the indoors. Easy walk to downtown and is even better than the pictures. We can’t wait to come back.
