Stunning gite in an idyllic location a perfect getaway

Set in an idyllic location, the lazy river close for swimming, boating and fishing. The roman town of Saintes 10 mins, 20 mins to Cognac, 35 mins to stunning beaches. Our beautiful gite with wood burner and central heating makes it a perfect year round destination for all the family.
The beautifully renovated & transformed 2 bedroom gite with its own garden, patio and bbq area set in the large secluded garden of La Basse Pommeraie with private parking is ideal for long relaxing sunnydays. In a small hamlet just 300m from the river Charente where you can swim, fish or take out our kayak. Our location is ideal for walking, cycling, bird watching, golfing and horse riding.
There are 2 light and airy double bedrooms, 1 with a kingsize bed. An open plan living area with a traditional wood burning stove and a fully equipped modern kitchen a separate laundry area and a large family shower room.
Outside there is a large private terrace with seating and bbq area.
Within the gardens there is a badminton net and ample space for ball games.
Our picturesque village Port D'envaux has a small sandy beach a diving pontoon and various boats for hire. As well as a large picnic green there are a few excellent restaurants / bars.
The nearby village of Taillibourg offers waterskiing, riverfront restaurants and excellent views of the countryside from its ancient ramparts.
You are 10 minutes from the Roman market town of Saintes with its amphitheatre, cathedral , markets, river cruises, shops, and restaurants. There is something for everyone.
5 minutes from Saintes there is an excellent 18 hole golf course.
The beautiful sandy beaches are just 30/40 minutes drive. Whether you are looking for peaceful calm waters or somewhere to ride the waves, the Charente coast has it all. Discover your favourite.
The zoo at Palmyre and the aquarium at La Rochelle are excellent days out for all the family.
Cognac is 30 minutes away where a visit to one of the famous distilleries is not to be missed.
There is an abundance of local chateaux and vineyards where they are happy for you to taste their wines.

Changeover days: We changeover on Saturdays generally, although there is flexibility .

Wifi: A fair use policy from the internet provider. We include 20GB per week. Additional charges apply.
There is a €40 cleaning fee payable on arrival
The first 100 units of electricity are free, further units are charged at the standard unit rate.

It has double glazed windows and doors throughout, 2 double bedrooms 1 with a king size bed, a good size open plan living space with a cosy wood burning stove and radiators for your winter visits. Fully equipped kitchen, laundry area with washing machine and a large family shower room. Outside you have a large terrace with garden furniture and barbecue, screened from the rest of the garden by a beautiful weeping willow which also offers privacy and shade if you want to escape the sun although it does not shade the terrace. Within the garden there is a badminton net and ample room for ball games. Private parking.
We have a 4 man Canadian kayak that you are welcome to use on the river.
