Stonehaven Cottages - The Gatekeeper Cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent at the Gatekeeper Cottage. It was quiet, clean, & had everything we needed. We will definitely return sometime when there's not snow on the ground! We left feeling rested & relaxed!

The cottage is positively adorable! The obvious care that went into every little detail was evident. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be back!

Amazing interior and decor; comfy beds and setup; environment outdoors was pleasant. Boats & access were a bit disappointing with lack of access to the water.

We loved our time at this cabin! Super cute and a lot of fun for the kids. Deceptively close to town also! Wish we would’ve been able to stay a bit longer to enjoy the lake - next time!! The hosts were super friendly and communicative. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to be able to cook. The coffee pot with creamer / sugar was a really sweet touch as well.

The owner entered our property without permission. Ted, with his large white sun hat, had just been at the fire pit and would not leave us after we said we were fine. He finally left and we decided to pack up and head inside. We saw him through the living room window standing by the staircase, near what we eventually discovered was the fireplace switch. He entered our cabin and turned the fireplace on, then fled when he saw us see him. As a party of all women in a cabin with multiple points of entry, we did not feel safe staying. When we reached out about the fireplace, the owners pretended it must have been on the entire weekend, as though we hadn’t been sitting in the living room next to it, with the fireplace clearly off the entire day. We ended up having to leave at 10:30pm and stay at a hotel. Recommend against booking with VRBO, who said confirmed the violation initially, then waited over two weeks to say “just kidding.” VRBO does not value the safety of their renters or provide protections. You’re on your own.

This was the second time we had a friend meet-up/getaway in the Gatekeepers Cottage... it is just so lovely and well appointed. The hiking trails are so nice to get out and enjoy the birds and lake views. We loved using the grill and fire pit, not amenities. You can sit and watch birds in the front porch forever. Ted & Lori are so friendly and attentive, a very warm and welcoming stay overall.

We had a great time at this property! It was super cute, and it was a great place to spend time with friends!

Myself, my daughters and my grandchildren all enjoyed our stay at Stonehaven's, Gatekeeper Cottage for our annual trip. We enjoyed everything about the property. The cabin itself and the property were very special. We enjoyed our pontoon ride during which we saw several eagles flying overhead and even diving for a fish, there were multiple herons and a loon who stayed nearby diving and popping up. We highly recommend this rental getaway.
